You are correct however we do have the correct train to access the Litchurch Lane Works the Class 37 ROG paint with Class 375/9 Yellow & White because that's where class 375 was made perhaps they should consider that as an option if you have that by dropping off the 375/9 at the original Factory where they were made.

Oh, you're way undercounting. I can see at least twice that number.

What draws my attention is the evenness of that carpet, oops I mean road bed. Can you imagine the effort it took the section hands to get it that smooth and free of garbage. And then for SHG to model it so accurately? I scarce can take it in!! :D

I am very much on the fence now. Parts of the lineside look as bad as the plains of Alvechurch on the Cross City route, maybe they are going to be improved as they are work in progress shots.

But knowing now that two of what should be interesting interactive parts of the route are not accessible is very much a downside.

The route in general looks good as does the stock but the lack of freight is a downside on what is quite a busy freight route.

Pretty much every release on TSW seems to be one step forward and two steps back now. I do think sometimes that maybe the purse strings need loosening slightly as you get the feeling the very minimum is done.

It's like OSD all over again! If it's inaccessible why are you including it on the pre-release route map, and why is the power station the main feature of the cover image? But more than all that, why isn't it included? Missed opportunity there.

DTG is being a bit naughty with the way they’re marketing this route. The power station jumped out at me, much like the one on Ruhr Sieg Nord. I think they’re fascinating places but both are off limits (although you can at least walk round part of the one in RSN).

will the route include 158 AI services that are not playable for immersion for example the 158s to Liverpool Lime St from Nottingham and the 158s to Mansfield/Worksop and 158 Services to Norwich and Skegness

  11. AtherianKing

judging by the route map it seems track is layered and accessible, but as with RSN no services.

missed opportunity to use existing rolling stock for Ai or Services is becoming a bad habit.

when their isn’t rolling stock but empty stations the reason is given as no appropriate stock, but when their is the stock theirs a I'm guessing a self imposed time constraint. Is their anyway to win with this…

edit: by the way things have been going on this, if Cathcart or Cross City were released when they had the right stock to fill the route up, they’d just be running into the same issue with Trenton and now Midland and thus nothing changed.

    Another pass for me :
Route is short but it would be enough if evrything else is right, but :
    - Number of services is low, it will be bland and lifeless.
    - Number of freight services is a joke.
    - Some areas will be not accesible, why ?
    - I need to see the quality of the 158. We already have a 150 with AP sounds that turned really bad. (both sounds and physics)
    - I need to see the night scenery, and if night services have some interest. Usually TSW is very poor in night scenery, using no lights sources and pooly lighted assets.

I never, ever pre-order with TSW, and will take it on a heavy discount in the future if critics are good enough. Time will tell.

Now it does, yes. When the line came out it didn't, though it did have some wagons parked there, randomly

Pretty much how I am feeling. We are being asked to part with £30 for a route that looks like it came out the MSTS editor and tile object limit, a 158 which is going to have to beat the benchmark set by the one in TSC NTP (AP work I think), the horrid bright brown lighting effect (how come Niddertalbahn avoids this?) and just general meargh factor. Looking more like the autumn sale, particularly as the stream on the TSCTokyo commuter route from UW looks far more appealing.

Also for my part i have bought all Just Trains TSC Midland Mainline routes, so no really urge to buy this one. Unless its really fantastic... So far i dont consider any TSW route as "fantastic", apart maybe London commuter due to the incredible timetable.

59 HST services - assuming no ECS runs, this is just under 4tph between 6am and 11pm. Given that there are two trains per hour to both Derby and Nottingham, this is about half what you'd expect.

What's the reasoning here? I know that most of these services are 222s in reality, and that EMR probably didn't have that many HSTs, but surely that's one area you can bend reality.

The class 158 hasn't been reused and I am sure has been requested many times, especially judging by the excitement over its pending appearance. Even the HST isn''t the same and I think you will find many do want to see reused locos if they are suitable and fill a void.

I hope at least all the sprinter services are there especially the stopping services from Leicester.

If this pruning of timetables, arguably one of TSW's main selling points continues then my wallet is going to remain closed a lot more, we have an empty SOS, a half finished timetable on NYT and now it seems this timetable is lacking. Do the decision makers actually take into account what the purchasers of their products actually want!

Yes as much as I’m on the fence about this route, I didn’t quite understand the poster’s reasoning there. 158 is new and we think the HST has a new sound set plus interior so it’s not like another Electrostar or DB recycled effort.

Plus the HST is very popular anyway so I suspect there will continue to be a clamour for it's inclusion on other routes. There was a push for it to be included on the Glasgow to Edinburgh route.

I wonder if this one allows you to run with the cab doors open? On GWE you couldn't which made the cab a bit too quiet. If you watch any of the old Railscene or indeed Video 125 cab rides with HST's it is actually quite loud.

I agree - the timetable for me, is the key selling point, and when they've made it richer, it's been a huge enhancement to the route. To me, more attention to be paid to this - I maintain that this suggestion would be hugely beneficial: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/timetable-crew.60627/

In my opinion Just Trains whole Midland serie is very nice. The Hope valley extension being particularly well done. You should have more opinions on TSC forum however.

Yes that would be a very good idea. Some of the timetables, for example SEHS are very immersive. I think timetables should be reviewed occassionally or alternatives produced like the new journeys pack on the Aachen route or the updated one on Rapid Transit.

There is a danger of them going the other way and turning routes like WCL into some kind of fantasy diesel gala though if we aren't careful though!

Just gotta wait and see, I suppose. I’m still optimistic!

It’s obviously unfortunate that the power station is inaccessible despite being present on the route map and art. It would have made a lot of sense to have a few freight services there. I’m personally not a freight fan, but I do enjoy seeing the AI. Just 10 or so freight services would have made the freight fans happy, I guess. Include a few end to end runs with containers or whatever, and sprinkle in some coal plant services on top. Even if readying the power plant is too much work (it’s a passenger-focused route after all), just providing some additional end-to-end freight services and return trips would’ve been sufficient.

That said, I’m personally more passenger-focused, so that’s not going to impact my enjoyment (although I’m obviously still sorry for all the freight fans who understandably expected a bit more). I just hope the route is solid and not plagued by ridiculous shortcomings and unresolved bugs (both of which continue to ruin routes like NY-Trenton and Edinburgh-Glasgow). As long as they deliver a solid route and trains, I can see myself having tons of fun with the different service patterns. It’s been a while since we’ve had proper diverging lines on a big intercity British route… East Coastway comes to mind. Looking forward to the preview stream.

The biggest benefit of this route for me is having the Class 158 in-game. That opens up the door for so many other routes with lots of different operators. The HST would come in use if we were to see London to Bedford with the upcoming Class 700.

I think the 158 is the star feature. I would buy WCL just for the 150 if they ever fix it.

Perhaps the intention is to sell a freight pack at a later date. Northern Trans Pennine had no freight services at release.

You object to the new WSR timetable? I think it was a success apart from the long wait times at some stations.
The waits are probably realistic but not great when you are playing for fun.

Much better than one train trundling up and down.

What they do need is to add the steam engines, demonstration freights and a free roam scenario with signals and points unlocked.

Some may moan about this, but ironically at least such routes actually are busy with the best timetables in TSW, namely London Commuter and SEHS (plus all the modern German content) - which all have a lot of freight services too - and thus means long-term gameplay! We need some more TSW routes that use existing rolling stock, otherwise every new route is just going to be empty.

Where did I mention the WSR?

My only objection to the WSR is that I have never seen a dirty diesel at a diesel gala.

ehh, I don't mind the WCL layers, the route would be much worse with just the DMU, and the eras are adjacent.

The HST is already layering onto SEHS, and the Class 158 could layer onto an ECML South at Peterborough should that ever happen. That would allow any future routes in this region to see more traffic, and as forementioned the Class 158 should be easy enough to modify into another operator for a plethora of other interesting future routes they run on. Much more beneficial long term for route variety than another electrostar subclass running on another southern region route in my opinion.

Agreed - it's harder in the UK because it's so atomised (particularly now), but ideally TSW would have a base of UK stock that could layer in to multiple new routes, like you have in Germany.

They are totally inaccurate. Class 40's were never in the South West. BR blue on intercity services was pretty much extinct by the early to mid 90's, certainly what mark 2a-c vehicles were left were being used on secondary routes like the NWC not on intercity services, you might have got the odd one appearing as a strengthening vehicle, certainly not a full rake, and they tended to have a brake coach as it was required! Class 45's had long gone too. The class 101 by then had pretty much disappeared from the area, I think Laira had a couple of sets so there is a very small chance one of those might have appeared on the St. Ives branch.

Therefore they are totally inaccurate and yet apparently more realistic than not having a HST! Penzance isn't Victoria.

If you want to put layers on, make them selectable as apparently has been mooted in the past.

Oh absolutely, the 158 coming to TSW is brilliant and hopefully means more routes that are less empty; conversely though, regarding the 158 - or any similar DMU - how many different TSW routes could have such a train before it gets deemed too repetitive as well though?

Regarding another Southern region route, I wasn't referring to just more Electrostars (though like it or not, it would still mean more busier and better timetables for any modern route), but there is the especially brilliant 465, the 395 and so on - plus not forgetting the upcoming 700 too. New routes and trains elsewhere are great, but I'd argue DTG has to consider some new routes that can use a lot of existing rolling stock every so often, thus so it means not every new route has an empty, less interesting timetable - thus it's no mystery to see why SEHS and LC are so popular...

Looking on bright side if you have west Cornwall local at least you can replace 150/2 with 158 in scenario planner

So what, there was advertised the power station is included, just to find out that ratcliff is inacessible now and probably wont even have static stock / services?
(Same for the 375 litchurch works at derby?)

I think im wasting my time.

Anywhere a Class 158 would be seen (and where practical) it should be implemented. For instance, a Fife Circle/Edinburgh to Dundee route would include a Class 170 as the new train, with a Class 158 and a HST for additional stock. The Class 158 wouldn't be 'new' in that sense as it's reused, but just having it there introduces another aspect of variety.
Of course having routes using stock we already have is great for busy timetables, but for regions not yet represented it's good to have a few routes with quieter timetables as this allows for layering opportunities later on. E.g. East Coastway never had Thameslink or Gatwick Express but making the Class 377 allowed for reuse on the Brighton Main Line and SEHS and more time to be spent making other stock such as the Class 387 and Class 395. Hopefully the Class 158 will have the same effect for lots of routes outside the south-east.

Yes. I have all of it. You can take coal to Ratcliffe Power Station, go into the Cement Factory at Hope and cart cement to relevant venues. It is built probably as well as it can be for it to be able to run on most machines. There are some stutters but i run at Ultra everything. Loads of scearios and these ae duplicated using default stock for those that do not have too many routes/stock. It is best bought from Just Trains so that you get all the scenarios and so that all the sections join to form one network. Some of it is now sold as a bundle at a lower price. First class product really. Then of course there are all the user made Workshop scenarios.

with the core updates to TSC it might be that the older game starts to gain more traction again, there are certainly several TSC versions of TSW that are superior in terms of gameplay and choices. If they could get a timetable mode into TSC it might be game over.
