It was mentioned in the stream by the skyhook representative that there was a storage or yard type area with some manual switches to move things around, and i like that kind of extra option but a yard full of br class 158's doesn't strike me as exciting shunting,so is there more to this or is that it?(Now unlike the GWR HST which you can't uncouple the loco or coaches(Which never made any sence to me) i'm wondering if the Midland Mainline HST will have this option and if there also found in this yard area, which might allow abit of limited switching shunting opportunities.
It looked as if there were some old be dieseled layered in a yard but I can’t remember which part of the stream that was so could have been in a different location!!!
What I gathered from the stream regarding the HST in MML, is that you can't uncouple them. The guy said something like.. The HST runs with its own stock, no matter where it is in the country it will be running with the same stock if you was to see it in Scotland. The only time it is uncoupled is if a part of the stock needed to be removed for a overhaul. Something like that. It would have been nice if there was a scenario where you have to split the train, then take the failed part to the maintenance sheds.
There is some free movement of 158s in the yards There were some older diesels shows as static stock in the yards on the stream last night but no mention that I heard of being able to move them The HST is semi permanently coupled to the carriages as they would be IRL (from what they said on stream) with the consists being fixed. I wouldn't expect much shunting or complex movements as this is their first route and the timetabling is fairly basic (from what they've said) Maybe "better to come in future" (again from what they said)
Now Skyhook have another notch on their belts, I'm looking forwards to see what else they do. Though that will depend on the reception of what MML receives after its release?
