    Find that helpful and for Huddersfield line NTP owners Tees Valley Line owners they can use 20 31 37 40 45 & 47 locomotives on 1980s Calder Valley Line. If that were to be the case then CVL 1980s should be 25 46 & 56 the Brel made ones or Communist Romania 001-030

    Could it be Preston to Blackpool North and South, pre electrification?
    Just a thought.

    That is what I think too. Especially as that route has been built as freeware in TSC by two of the developers at JT.

    It might make sense if it uses stock already in the sim as JT haven't published any of their own UK trains for TSC for many years. Of course they might have hired someone.

    I had hoped Just trains would bring over their voyager to TSW with the class 222.

    That only comes in at 29mi 55ch, so I think it rules itself out.

    Could be track length adding up both directions. Be open minded lol

    Literally no one measures route length by each individual piece of track, so most likely 40 miles between endpoints.

    The Furness line would be fantastic, especially if it were to start at Lancaster or even Preston and include the Morecambe branch. If set pre-electrification, a Class 50 and a Class 108 would be suitable, and should represent a large chunk of the services.

    When they talk about route they rarely ever talk about how much track is laid like they did in the roadmap, its usually "Route is x miles/kilometres long. Thats a subtle difference in language

    That's exactly what I'm thinking as was adding up the three branches to Yarmouth via Acle, via berney arms and to Lowestoft.

    More than likely we're overthinking was was written on the roadmap. Like I said, track laid is such a useless metric as you could have a short industrial route with lots of sidings, which in terms of track mileage might total 40 miles, but the actual end-to-end route length could be less than 10. They wouldn't mention a route with 40 miles of track then later announce it's only 10 miles from end-to-end.

    That's not how track is measured, if it's double track it's the same distance. Also, I don't think that's what openmindedness is.

    I'll use this as a way to address the entire discussion here;
    I believe the route will be 40 miles end(s) to end(s), including any branches or whatnot. I think "track layed" was used in the roadmap to more or less say "we've made the track for this 40 mile route, but scenery and stuff is still a while off."

    I hope we are wrong with it's length as it is too short and it could be a section of multiple routes like SEHS.

    West Somerset is 20 miles and Niddertalbahn is 19 miles. Both are quite enjoyable routes. Route milage isn't everything...

    True, but I suppose that depends on the rolling stock used, what is fine for heritage stock or a slow stopper doesn't work so well with more conventional rolling stock that gets up to speed between stops.

    There was an interesting reference in the Roadmap article to a 'seasonal timetable' which I would assume is to do with leaf-fall. I therefore think it might be something to do with Chiltern Railways as their service (and the Metropolitan Line) is known to suffer particularly badly during the autumn months. The Train Sim Classic London to Aylesbury route is 45 miles.

    If it is the Metropolitan Line, personally, I'd prefer to see an S Stock and a modern route, rather than 90s-era and presumably an A Stock.

    Well the code suggests diesel mechanical and diesel electric which would make a modern route more unlikely I would imagine as most modern DMU's are diesel hydraulic.

    True but they take around an hour to drive. A 20 mile double track secondary UK route could be complete in around 30 minutes depending on how many stations there are.

    So would that not make a 40 mile route about an hour (a good length for a TSW service)?

    My guess is still a loco (or locos) we've seen before and either a 141 pacer or an early 142. Both were mechanical gearboxes until the 142's upgrade.

    That depends on the speed of the route, number of stations and rolling stock. It could be a quick drive to a long one. Bcc is around 40 i think and it takes 90 minutes end to end. Some German routes are around that length and it takes 30min for ice services and like 40 for sbahn (hma). So it's not always an hour for the same length of route

    Speaking of the gearbox is it the same as the one on the 101 or an automated manual gearbox like a Lorry

    I don't think it was manually changed it was a mechanical automatic gearbox but they didn't have them long and they were replaced with the same type of hydraulic transmission as the Sprinters.

    I know there's some strong support in this thread for a north of England route but, seeing how many routes have already been done for England and Scotland, it would be nice to have a route in Wales. Has been hinted at before in previous livestreams that TfW aren't up for working with developers on a Welsh route but, older time setting would mean that JT could do a Wales route without having to get deals done with TfW.

    I have to say this is the route which is now looking the most interesting on my radar.
    Or alternatively this could hint at summer special services?

    Personally for me I'll like the route if it has great trains, services mileage and effort has been put in to remove bugs.

    Not 100% - as gwrfan#3416 indicates though, high likelihood of Tues/Thurs of that week.

    Well just an automatic gearbox I assume just similar to a car/bus/lorry. It would not be the same sort of gearbox you get in the class 101 or a manual gearbox in a car.

    Summer specials?
    Settle - Carlisle or Fw - Mallaig with summer steam specials. I say these imparticular as the steam would feature in timetable mode during the summer months, as in the case of Mallaig the steam is daily.

    Well JT said they have laid about 40 miles of track and the summer specials clue, I'm leaning towards West Highland Line Extension (Fort William-Mallaig) as that's about 40 miles long, so it's a possibility ;)

    That would be nice, if done properly. Scope for a classic 70's DLC with Class 27 too.
    Would be interesting to see how TSW handles RETB signalling, too.

    JT are usually very good with scenery. Hopefully the Mallaig line (if that's what's being done) would look great.

    Who knows but possibly yes.
    The first place to jump to my head was Skeggie and (due to the 'leak') Blackpool but it could be anywhere really.

    I hope it is skeggie as it’s always been the beach I’ve gone to. Well, either there or mablethorpe but there’s no railway there so we’ll never see it in game sadly!!!

    FW - Mallaig is an incredibly good shout;
    Roughly 40 miles,
    The 37 is diesel-electric, so fits;
    The 156 is Diesel-Mechanical (I think), so also fits.

    This leaves the setting at 1989, which is when the 37 left the route (in regular service), and the 156s took over. Transition era route, perhaps?

    Fair dos in all honesty mate the sprinters aren't really my specialist subject, just my gut said they were diesel hydraulics, so I could be well off the mark!

    Tbh my only reasoning is because I saw the word "mechanical" in a line full of big technical terms that I haven't got a clue about, so we're in the same boat :)
