DTG folks: Other reports from rail-sim.de suggests that over-scaled thumbnails is one of the courses of menu hangs.
No Hardcore user here, but got quite a number of routes. A few Just trains bits (MML) and a few AP bits. Rest from Steam Everything fine so far. I have 15 pages of quick drive, and have been forwards and backwards without issues. Just create a shortcut from from the 64 bit exe ? Or am I missing something? As for DX12 experimental, its not launched until tomorrow
Mines absolutely fine so far. Will be testing further but load-up seems quicker and quieter. I'm on a 4k full-screen monitor, 10th gen i7 processer with 64gb ram and I've had a lot of problems so will be putting it through its paces over the coming days but 3 scenarios loaded without CTDs and I've upped my settings a little so I'm delighted so far.
My Workshop scenarios don't seem to recognize any of the DLC's that I own. Tells me I need to buy them, Additionally the view 4 seems to no longer track the locomotive.
So I just reinstalled the clean game without any free assets or free routes. I confirm that it works without any problem. I tested with a personal free route and unfortunately I confirm that the game crashed! I think some free assets are just not supported anymore...
We're not supposed to use that anymore, it was supplied in 2018-10 for the first 64 bit edition. It replaces the OpenAL32.dll with a different version. That said my OpenAL32/64 didn't update, they are still from 2020-09.
Maik has reported on Railsim, that the AFB in the BR 101 Expert Line has stopped working since the update. So I don´t know if that´s a Virtual Railroads problem or a DTG problem.
This will copy an older version of the OpenAL.dll into your RailWorks folder, but back up the original because you can only get it back with a file verification.
I can confirm the route selection screen hangs too here, from page 23 to 24 on my end. Can access routes via search field though. It's really time they drop Scaleform menus...
It also did solve OOM errors back then. Maybe something got reset with this update. Anyway, i’ve deleted my post as it might lead to people doing stuff without a backup.
I found uninstalling 3 Country Corner solved the menu hanging issue for me. If it is a thumbnail issue, i guess other routes/locos may have the same problem.
New test with the same personal route and going through the last page of the trains instead of the 1st, it works! I think like you that certain thumbnails make the game crash. For me it is page 3 of the locos and there is only DTG material. it was felt to be more stable not more broken...
"It doesn't seem to be working for me, for some reason. The game comes up in the window at the bottom of the taskbar, but it just shows a white screen inside. and doesn't do anything. This is in both 32 and 64-bit versions. Brickrail782, Today at 7:00 PM" Exactly the same for me too...
Had a quick test, in 64 bit, on the JT Chiltern line which is heavy for general framerate and tile loading stutters in particular. Ran fine but no perceptible performance improvement. My system is generally stable, for what I do with it, so nothing to report there really. I also noticed that the '4' view isn't tracking the train now.
Reported on another thread, and I have demonstrated it works, that it is the format of the image.png file that is either in the routeinformation folder for routes that are causing the menu to fail to load or in the locoinformation folder for locos that are causing the same problem. Basically you need to find the problem loco or route, find its image.png that the menu uses. Open it in a graphics editor that will allow .png files to be editted and simply resave it. If that doesn't work then simply create a new .png for the route. The size of the image may also play a role but its looking like the way the image has been created is the issue. Not my finding so I am not taking credit other than I have done quite a bit of testing.
To sum up : I don't play TSW3 anymore because of the bugs and lousy lighting and now I can't play TSC anymore because of a [...] update that completely broke the game. [EDITED - Jan - insulting]
I couldn't disagree with more. I think that's a bit harsh but understandable in the heat of disappointment. That wasn't somethingn that DTG could anticipate unless they had alot of 3rd party routes on test as well - it doesn't seem to apply to their own routes
Maybe for you but not for me. It works fine. No need to make nasty comments as the fault could very well be with your computer. People are always far too quick to blame the developer.
I suggest that you take a nap, wait till tomorrow or maybe a day more, unless you have something more specific to report than “my game is totally broken”.
the tadami crashes the game. Most union workshop dlc crashes the game except the last road to tokyo. I think there must also be a memory management problem with this update. because precisely for the routes of union workshop it is a question of insufficient memory! I have 16gb, i5 12400 and rtx 3060 (12gb) I think that's more than enough and anyway it worked fine before.
Say, I did a clean install today even after the update that broke the game! I have a more than enough last generation pc: i5 12400 rtx 3060 etc etc The game was working fine before. I've been playing it for 10 years there's no point in telling us that everything is fine when you have 95% of the people it doesn't work for. You can keep your unpleasant reflections to yourself.
But bidibul#3139 there is now a clear idea of what is causing the error and it is one very specfic thing that only applies to a number of routes and is easily fixed by users until DTG can come up with a global fix. Its also not something I think DTG could reasonably be expected to have anticipated or spotted in testing.
I'm not mean, I'm realistic I'm not mean, I'm realistic. You make a comment without having read the whole conversation from the beginning. The game works for you very well but for 95% it does not work. DTG itself knows it since the maj has been removed. They are unable to work properly without screwing up anything. We had to do a beta on one side and leave the game as it was instead of getting out of the LOVE again and taking us for beta testers. They already did it on TSW when TSW3 came out.
Yes and no . Yes, they can't know everything. No, he should have made a beta before breaking the game for a lot of us. I still reinstalled the original game without any additions and it doesn't work! There are several locos that crash the game. (We now know) There are also several roads that crash the game. (We now know) I'm only talking about paid DLCs here, not free dlcs. It took us 2 hours to find out where the problem comes from, why didn't DTG see it before us? Answer : as usual no tests no quality service. I'm not even going to defend them this faith.
How many other games do you play outside of Train simulators and how many other game forums do you visit? This happens on all game developers' forums when a new game or patch comes out everyone jumps up and down with responses like yours.
A 50 in other games A 30 in forum I also do retro gaming I also do free routes for TS I've been building PCs for over 15 years In the majority of games I have (98%) small bugs are in no way a problem to play. I'm sorry but the 2 games that have the most problems after each update are those of DTG ... Ho, I also specify that I have the fishing game which also does not work correctly of course. I also specify that I have no other train games apart from dencha de go.
You are being unreasonable, blaming DTG for problems caused by third party developers not adhering to the standards as described in the TS developer documentation. bidibul#3139 What are you hoping to achieve with your rant? Calm down. Wait a day or two till the problem is fixed. Mow the lawn, walk the dog, play another game for a couple of days. No one dies…
