It's nearly prototypical. At least, the loco does the same as long as the e-brake takes any effect while braking. It cuts the air brakes (on the loco only of course) totally out. So, cutting out them manually gives you the desired result because the functionality for cutting the air is missing yet in the 103s simulation.
Have a thx for the Information about this. I tried this workaround and immediately had way better control of the brakes. Especially the behaviour when releasing the brakes felt way better (again, im not an expert nor a train driver and can only judge from what i know from other trains on tsw). There were also enough braking force to stop when i drove into a "expect signal at danger" and had about 900m to break when doing about 140km/h. Had to pull quite hard but managed to stop in time. Anyway, this way its a much more nicer experience.
