I don't know if this topic ever came up but now that DTG has been purchased by FOCUS ENTERTAINMENT of "France",does anyone think DTG will dig back into there TSW routes/loco suggestion box and pull out a few french related items to work on as future releases.Because upto now they have shown 0 interest in doing anything past there one foray into france.
I dont think focus will change anything about having more French routes because the company is based in Paris. DTG already released two French routes ( LGV with its extension to Lyon and an international route from Strasbourg to Karlsruhe) but they don’t have the sufficient knowledge to do french routes that’s why it’ll be profitable that a 3rd party in France will be involved with DTG, there’s a few of them but one does some high quality payware locomotives/coaches ( SIMExpress ) but we need one that do routes. DTG already have an SNCF licence so they need some help from locals to get a new licence for that specific route and one as well from the Région for régional lines ( TER or Transilien )
The perfect project would be the channel tunnel route.I have suggested this before long before i ever heard about this buyout. But it always gets poo pooed because players don't want to spend 35 minutes in the chunnel.Well this is a train sim game and if you want a simulated train driving experience, driving a train thru a 35 minute tunnel under the sea is as real as anything else this game allows.
Eurostar is a pain to give license and they’re not in a relatively good financial state plus they acquired Thalys so they have something else to do maybe later. Just for information they’re so closed for licence that a famous french train modeler for Trainz sold payware packs including Thalys and Eurostar even though he haven’t got the license, the guy was named genesteal.
There's so many routes in the world, driving through a tunnel for half an hour should be rock bottom of the list.
Something along the Riviera (not high speed), the Cevenol or again classic route from Amiens to Calais or Rouen to Dieppe all before the Chunnel and Eurostar would be great.
IIRC, Sam said at some point they thought about doing the eurotunnel and did some kind of very early test, just to see how driving the tunnel for 30 mins would feel. Needless to say that it was terrible and they scrapped the idea.
There’s a nice international route similar to Arosa Linie with 3rd rail section in France and some with catenary and 3rd rail in Switzerland, that could be great a great route, it’s from Saint-Gervais-Les-Bains to Vallorcine next to the swiss border then why not till Martigny.
Would love anything French as long as it’s not TGV, we already have enough high speed routes to last a lifetime. The next route has surely got to be with one of the many iconic nez cassé electrics.
