With the recent upload of the cl 158 to midland mainline, it dawned on me that I might be able to couple the 150 to the 158. I was wrong. It's not possible. This is just them put together, they are not coupled Why not? After watching the release stream, it was confirmed that we couldn't couple them. I appreciate that the 158 doesn't run on WCL and vice versa but it would be a neat feature to add. After thinking about it, the class 150 also can't couple to the 166. All three of these units (cl 158,150 & 166) all have the same coupler. There are depot diagrams going in and out of Exeter depot where a class 166 has been coupled to a 150 and runs in multiple places around the UK where 158's have run in situ with 150s on services. Maybe this might be added as a update when both or all three units may be included on a route. This would give developers an excuse to update some units if they need it. Thanks for reading Some photos are not my own and belong to their respective owners
If I remember rightly it's the 158 that's set up correctly and the 150 that hasn't been set up correctly in game.
I think this is something that needs adding to Matt's list of basic stuff that must be on every train's requirements at dev time. Any train in real life that has a coupling must be configured in a certain way to allow the train to be coupled in game, and that should be such that it will work with any future developed unit that has that same coupling
Re the 166, IIRC IRL the Turbo classes could not be coupled to Sprinters due to control and electrical differences, though the classes all share BSI couplers. However Class 14x and Class 15x can all be coupled to each other so 150/158 combination not a problem. This happened frequently on Regional Railways services, driver just has to remember if he’s in the 158 not to forget he has the 75 MPH set on the back!
