The game is in early access. I'm guessing you know what that means. I agree that the single player experience could be better though
That is slightly flawed though, because having followed the game in the lead up to release including participation in the public beta test, there was never any hint of it only being released as early access until literally a few days before. This presumably in response to the large number of issues being flagged up, including the stonewalled questions about single player and the save game - the latter geting no response whatsover to numerous questions. So essentially a firefighting decision as it looks as if they went to release well before the game was adequately ready (and of course they are not the only ones guilty of that... ).
I do remember devs saying that they do plan on improving single player and adding save checkpoints. Hopefully they'll do it soon enough so that you guys can enjoy too. Would always love to see more people joining especially the english speaking folks
Well looking at the road map it seems the save/checkpoint is fairly high on the to do list, so you never know..! Personally I would like to see signalling mode extended to SP with a comprehensive timetable, so essentially like playing SimSig, PC Rail or SIAM but in an environment where you can actually see the trains (and able to save your progress of course).
About single player, let's wait till official communication from the devs how in the end the single will look like, so there won't be a confusion P.s If you want drive alone in the timetable, you can always enter empty server and give it a go :P
It is only Oldvern's assamption. He is a well -known TSW Fan Boy) If Simrail devs have managed to implement a full time table on 500 km route in MP, why they can not do the same for SP? I am sure the will do it.
I am no fanboy of any sim and while I enjoy TSW3, TSC Run 8 and many others just check my post history here to see I am not afraid to offer criticism when needed. And can you please explain why you feel the need to make this personal?
As somebody cleverly mentioned, it's fairly easy to simulate single player in Simrail by logging in a server where you are alone
Maybe but you can’t resume the game exactly where you left off. You have to ferret around looking for a train in or around that location at the next occasion you log on. No substitute for being able to save and finish the same run with the same train.
Actually that's a good point. I guess you can switch the train to autopilot if you need a few minutes to visit the loo or grab a drink, but not if the wife has a job for you, or the phone rings or something when you're going to wnt to come off and save.
Which unit is this? I really love the driving cabs of the train. All unique and sort of a vintage style look to them
Haven't read this thread at all as i am a menace to society but i wanted to say that simrail is absolutely ace. Since i stopped playing TSW it's been almost the only train sim I've been playing for a couple months now. I'm so in love with dispatching and I can't wait for the manual lever frame signal boxes.
Simrail IMO wont be a tsw killer until UK routes, and stuff like single player and console support is made properly available, but yes as mentioned, this should help offer healthy competition and maybe get DTG on their A game
I don't get why the success of Simrail is based on whether UK routes are there or not... On Steam it has very much the same players of TSW3 without any UK route.
It's not so much the success of SimRail that hinges on the UK, but whether it will kill TSW or not. Undoubtedly it is a very successful simulator without UK routes, but it won't kill TSW without UK routes.
Why do people think it will "kill" TSW anyway? If all it is going to offer someone like me who isn't interested in multiplayer, are a few scenarios in single player mode then that is a big disadvantage over TSW anyway even if it offers UK content. I would probably use both anyway even if it it offers a service mode. If it offered longer routes with a larger roster of trains, especially UK based then yes TSW could be in danger from my point of view but I can't see that happening.
Still it doesn’t matter whether the route is 30 miles or 300 miles, based in the UK or Inner Mongolia. Until it can offer the same SP experience as TSW including a save game, enjoyable though it may be it poses zero threat to TSW.
How many routes are there then? I know there are about 500kms of track. Even so I will wait to see what DLC develops and what single player looks like in the future.
I have tried the single player mode not really multiplayer i tried it for 20 mins before refunding it
If a route is considered using Dovetail standards, then Simrail offers at least three or four routes or in other words the content of 3 or 4 TSW3 dlcs.
I have played the playtest for about an hour and then bough the game i refunded it due to not being able to rebind the buttons freely which is trash for now
Ok, I don't care tbh. I just don't bear people spreading misinformation on something they didn't even try properly.
