I am suggesting this route because of the history behind it. The Piedmont Subdivision is located in Virginia. It runs from Richmond Va at Fulton Yard to Charlottesville, VA. It was built as the Louisa Railroad in 1836. It was operated by the RF&P until the Virginia Central took over operations. It was a vital rail line during the Civil War. The Virginia Central merged with the Covington and Ohio to create the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway. This rail line was where all trains came through until the James River Viaduct was constructed. Today, it is operated by CSX and the Buckingham Branch which is a short line railroad. CSX sends grain and coal empties west on this line. The Buckingham Branch switches out cars for local industries. Some notable locations on this route are Church Hill Tunnel, Main Street Station, Doswell, Beaverdam, Mineral, Louisa, Trevillians, and Charlottesville. I suggest that it take place in the 1950s. This could include coal trains, manifest freights, and iconic passenger trains like the Sportsman and the Fast Flying Virginian. Some locomotives that could be included include the F7, E8, GP9, SW1, and maybe C&O 614 as a dlc locomotive. The rail line is 75.1 miles long. Dovetail, I hope you will accept this suggestion. I will gladly pay for it and I’m sure many others will also.
