Yesterday I ventured up to Hereford to see A4 Pacific 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley on it's first tour after overhaul back in BR Blue. It looked gorgeous in the sun, although I still prefer LNER Garter Blue. I saw it at around 12pm taking water in the bay, and the crew very graciously allowed me onto the footplate for a short while, which I'm very thankful for. Later that day I saw it again on the southbound leg of it's journey from Shrewsbury to Paignton, and the sun was out then so I could get some half decent shots of it.
LeShuttle being rebranded with a new logo identity after more than 20 years. I haven’t found other pictures of the Class 9000 but more will come I’m sure, I think coaches and wagon will be rebranded as well
Metro-North will be applying heritage wraps to five units https://new.mta.info/press-release/...demic-era-ridership-records-railroad-rebrands P32 #208 was the first to receive the treatment, being wrapped in the old MTA "Beach Ball" paint scheme Official Photos https://www.flickr.com/photos/mtaphotos/sets/72177720308289936/
My today's catch from my local area. GE U18C (Locally classified as CC201) numbered 9201 wore PJKA Heritage/Vintage livery
The badge is a depot plaque, these were popular in the late 80s to mid 90s. Most Traction Maintenance Depots (TMDs) have/had a symbol that represents something local to the area. Whilst Carnforth didn’t have (I believe) an active mainline TMD with allocation during this time, it has since, so this is their nod to the past. The symbol represents a the Coaling Plant at the depot which is a listed structure. Incidentally 47772 used to carry Crewe Diesel cast plaques (without the diamond background) depicting the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland when it was allocated to Crewe for postal trains in the 90s

A few trains on the old north-south route Hannover - Göttingen here between Sudheim and Nörten Hardenberg. DB BR 187 freight train. The hopefully soon appearing DB BR 232 from TSG BR 211
Norfolk and Western M Class 475 and Norfolk and Western Class J 611 pulling excursions at the Strasburg Railroad for her farewell tour before heading for home in Virginia
I've been out in Prairie Du Chien Wisconsin for an internship and I finally got to get out and do some railfanning this weekend. It's been pretty interesting with both CPKC and BNSF on the different sides of the Mississippi River. Plenty of trains to see.
I took this MF88 at Pré Saint-Gervais station on line 7bis, it’s quite a unique subway train which is not equipped with bogies but independent orientable axles which was supposed to reduce noises on curbs but it wasn’t the case, even worse it damaged the rail, that’s the reason the max speed is 40kph for this unit which will be scrapped in a couple of years, not bad to stayed that long for something that was supposed to be a prototype in the first place.
Norfolk and Western Class J 611 leaving Strasburg this morning heading home to Roanoke Virginia with Norfolk Southern SD60E 6947 towing her back to Enola yard
Just heard new information about Amtrak's New Acela trains now being delayed until sometime in 2024 due to new issues that came up during testing related to 100 year old tracks on the NEC and sharing tracks with other commuter lines along the route: https://www.railwayage.com/passenger/high-performance/report-another-delay-for-amtraks-acela-ii/

While waiting near a Metra line for a bus the other day, I was surprised to see a train go by with an orange locomotive, plus a black stripe that made it look like nothing so much as a Nike sneaker. A quick Google search showed that this is a heritage locomotive painted in Milwaukee Road colors. https://metra.com/newsroom/milwaukee-road-lives-again-locomotive-405
This must be a bug. How could this substitution error pass the beta tests. Its getting even worse: Here the new 555:
Some more photos from the CPKC’s Marquette Sub during my internship. All of these were taken just north of Dubuque.
A few shots from the Epping & Ongar Railway's steam gala on Saturday. Featuring 4079 Pendennis Castle, 4953 Pitchford Hall, 4575 prairie tank 5521 running as L150 and Hawksworth pannier tank 9466.
Some photos from my visit to the real Peak Railway in 2016 and 2017. I've visited twice and both times a loco has broken down. I think I'm cursed haha.
Sad seeing such an iconic express engine like 4079 confined to preserved lines and Didcot's demonstration line. Should be out there racing up and down the mainline. Suppose it's better than just being static.
I believe that was the original plan, but it costs so much to go mainline these days that the cost was prohibitive.

In Pittsburg for a convention this past weekend, luckily the convention center is right next to Norfolk Southern's Pittsburg Line but only saw 2 trains in total on the line (As well as 2 CSX trains on the other side of the city during a river cruise on Friday)
Video is not my own but worth a watch. 146 car freight had stalled on a hill with the special following. The old girls still got it
Another photo dump from this week. Went around on Saint Feriole Island in Prairie du Chien and found some old railroad equipment sitting on a siding. Not sure how or why they’re there. There also was a graveyard of old Milwaukee Road cabooses, but they were blocked by some train cars.
While the Class 700/1s serve a majority of Thameslink's BML services, the 700/0 does, however, also complement frequently too. Here is 700046 from today at a sunny Three Bridges having just terminated after a service from Bedford: Photo taken by me
This I found just today about Amtrak improving the Northeast Corridor. Amtrak Improves Northeast Corridor Tracks: https://media.amtrak.com/2023/07/amtrak-improves-northeast-corridor-tracks/
Was in Cajon Pass yesterday shortly while traveling to attend an event, caught 1 BNSF intermodal near Mormon Rocks, and the Westbound Southwest Chief with 2 private cars near Blue cut
Class 390 on 1126 Wolverhampton - Euston at New Street. Due to engineering works, trains to Scotland meant to run through the Trent Valley ran via Birmingham Intl and the Aston Loop. No footage of that sadly.
