got bogged down in them trying to sell me useless add ons which I have no interest in at all. i.e, USA or European. Could I not just get TSW3 to use with my TSW2?. Gave up in all the sales talk..

You are going to have to buy one of the bundles (regional, deluxe, standard, and probably some more) to get TSW3. Wait are you actually on Steam? Also, are you interested in any TSW3 routes at all? If you only want to play TSW2 content, don't buy TSW3. Most TSW2 content plays better under TSW2 than it does under TSW3, and you don't get the "benefits" of TSW3 anyway, except for a couple of routes that have been "upgraded". The quotes are meant to show irony, which is how I feel about NEC-BP route.
My TSW2 does not load SOS and trans Pennine has a fault so that you cannot get through Miles Plating, can get as far as the from either direction then the crash thing comes up. GWR works nearly all the time and Somerset is 100% ok. I can and do create scenarios using the Steam loco's so bits work.
I recently bought SOS for TSW2 and was able to play all scenarios, and completed all achievements. I'm on XBox Series X though, in case it makes a difference. Also no issues with NTP or GWE. In fact, apart from the one broken achievement (Dresden Commuter), it's all working fine. Much better than TSW3.
SOS has received a fair number of fixes on the TSW3 version. Do any of the TSW3 DLCs (both the 'core' ones or just any old DLC) interest you?
TSW3 is in my opinion no better or worst then TSW2. If there's a TSW3 route you want, don't want to wait til doomsday for the OC upgrades outstanding or if you want better steam physics in SoS upgrade, if you aren't bothered by any of the qbive carry on with TSW2 until something tempts you to uograde
well I can take a copy of steam on a SSD external drive and TSW2 plays perfect on every other PC even my 10 year old laptop. TSW 2020 plays good on this PC which is only 1 month old, just TSW2 is playing up, I have completely reset this PC twice and fresh download everything, even went as far of creating another microsoft I.d. so nothing would come from the cloud. Guess it's this brand new PC (it's got the latest 12th gen i7 10 core processor, but it is an All in One so I am used to 20FPS. It has Intel Graphics and that is the only thing that I can think is causing the trouble. I only got TSW2 for the Steam loco's but luckily I am creating scenarios for all routes so am happy with that, just would like SOS to even think about starting. Leeds don't get much better, pity the train can't get past Miles Platting. .
