Niddertalbahn just launched a few days ago, and the DLC is off to a great start, with universal praise and great feedback all around. One of the specialties of the route is the huge amount of easter eggs and explorable areas. I’ve seen some of them being mentioned all over the place, so I thought I’d create a tread to put all our discoveries in one place. If you have something to share, please include the location on the route and a picture, if possible! I’ll start things off with a few things I noticed on my own while playing the route or saw on the forums and Discord: There are multiple owls hidden in trees all over the route. There is a glowing turtle monument! A tree branch at Lindheim can be climbed and sat on. The neighborhood surrounding Stockheim station is explorable on foot. Cars will stop and honk at you if you’re blocking their path while on foot. The vintage signal lamps can be lowered if you walk up to them.
All the new routes seem to have this. It’s a bit weird when you are flying around with the camera and everything is stopping for you. It’s a good feature though as it saves you getting booted out of the way like when a passenger walks into the camera.
Yeah I like that feature and you can be an idiot for once by blocking the traffic for no reason and at least on Niddertalbahn the BR 628 don’t suffer the “passenger leak”
...looks more like Gimli from "Lord of the Rings". I've also put together a few mushroom picking tips!
Just the fact, that your wonderful informational graphic about what mushrooms to eat on an Train simulator route again shows what a masterpiece this route is
Would be a spoiler ... It is in the woody area. Forgot to mention, there also is a kind of monument giving credits to all devs and a hint for the next route. It is somewhere in the same area.
...only three times. I've mentioned the steam loco from the poster in the Training Center at least ten times by now!
When I first looked at that I thought it was a headstone, and two thoughts ran into my head: 1: I didn't realise the team died. 2: Rivet Games reference?
We know the hint, but we do not know wether it’s the next German TSW route, or the next TSG & Ed & Lucas route
Seems like the PLZ Beginning with 38 is owned by the area of Braunschweig, so there are now some possibilities. Number 1: It’s just left over from the model they used, so it doesn’t have any meaning Number 2: It is a hint to another route, maybe starting in Braunschweig Hbf. Now there are some possibilities: -BaWü is next TSG route, Braunschweig is DTG route -BaWü is next DTG route, Braunschweig is next TSG route That was what came in my mind, and I’d like to hear everyone’s opinion to that!
PLZ 38... is it new to me? But a short brainstorming: what makes BaWü so world-famous? The Black Forest of course! There were already the cuckoo clocks at LFR, which can also be interpreted as an indication. Since we would like to pick mushrooms again, another forest area would certainly be a good choice. Drum roll now comes the exciting part: which famous route is there? I know something that could be considered, but I prefer to hold back this time. In any case, the next special project release will certainly not be before next year, when a suitable time window will be passed, while the next "normal" German route could follow with this year's big summer release. As we can see with NID, more time also means more attention to detail and is good for the overall quality.
And we also shouldn’t forget, that the 628 would fit with the next route! I think that was said during an official stream, but I can’t remember which one
Just to keep the speculation going: did you know that the last depot to use the BR38 (or Preußische P8) in active service was Rottweil (which lies in Baden Württemberg)?! It was apparently used until 1974 on fast, commenter and cargo trains in the region…
Ehhh, I’m not sure that the first German Steam loco would be a P8. It probably would be more something like the Br52 or the Br01
Schwoop di schwoop back to the topic of German steam locomotives! Bringing the BR38 into the discussion isn't all that wrong. But I also think that the BR52 comes first for TSW. A BR01 would also be great, but it would only really shine with old passenger coaches. The same also applies to the BR52, without old wagon material no museum railway or rail tour really makes sense.
True, the P8 would not be the most obvious choice. It was just meant to somehow link the mysterious PLZ 38… to BaWü
That’s a very interesting find! Maybe they modeled off-world station buildings as a preparation/training for the assets along the actual Niddertalbahn. I find it hard to believe that this could be an indication for an initially planned bigger route than just Bad Vilbel - Stockheim considering station buildings are usually not the first things that are built/modeled by far (commonly preceded by track laying, platforms, signals and landscaping).
The hill at the end of Stockheim station is actually climbable, and in the far distance (with the back towards the route we have) there are some trees visible (the floating ones). Another strange thing is, that the line at the far back of the station is walkable for quite some time, and it even is still nicely modeled: This really makes we wonder wether there was more planned
WAIT A MINUTE! That station is on the line wich is at the back of Stockheim station, the bit which is walkable for a bit. So maybe the line was supposed to get further, to then get cut (which still allowed for a fantastic route) Further down that line is Nidda, so maybe the original plan for the Niddertalbahn was to go from Bad Vibel to Nidda?
Ah, I was sure I've seen this guy before somewhere, but couldn't remember where Spoiler But by now he is hiding in the woods near Neuer Friedhof Büdesheim, and the lighting changes when you approach his temple.
I‘d mark that as a spoiler, because some people might want to find it for themselves. But thx for helping
SPOLIER ALERT! (Does forum have a way to mark as spoiler?) The scenario I think number 4 about searching for an evil ghost has some hints..... Maybe there is more coming...... I will let you guys play it.... Spolier alert!!! Don't look down!!! If you want to play first do not look below!!! SPOILER ALERT
I wish one of the Easter-egg hunters represented in this thread would provide instructions for becoming a hunter. I can easily imagine that it involves spawning in on foot, but how does one know where and when?
