The BR 218 , which is popular with many people and has a large fan base, can be found in the German public transport system. And if there is a good opportunity to make TSW3 even more varied and realistic, this move could be integrated into the game as an option. The BR 218 is a diesel locomotive that was used by the DB. The BR 218 is a multi-purpose locomotive that can be used for both passenger and freight transport. It can pull both individual passenger cars and heavy freight trains. The BR 218 has a diesel-electric drive. A diesel engine drives a generator, which in turn produces the electrical energy to drive the traction motors. Top speed: 140 km/h / 160 km/h Length: 16.64 mTotal weight: 83 t Motors: MTU 12V 956 TB10 MTU 12V 956 TB11 Pielstick 16PA 4V 200 MTU 16 V 4000 R40/R41 traction power: 1839 kW/ 2500 PS (MTU TB10) 2060 kW/ 2800 PS (MTU TB11) 1986 kW/ 2700 PS (Pielstick) 2000 kW/ 2718 PS (MTU 4000) Braking power: 300kN Max starting traction: 285 kN Brakes: electrodynamic brakes, pneumatic brakes, parking brakes Safety systems: Indusi ,PZB The BR 218 was built between 1971 and 1979. Production of this diesel locomotive began under various manufacturers, including Henschel, Krauss-Maffei, Krupp, MaK and AEG. During this period, a total of 398 BR 218 locomotives were built for the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB). The locomotives were originally equipped with engines from Maybach-Motorenbau. Later, however, engines from other manufacturers such as MTU Friedrichshafen were also installed. This replacement of the engines was part of modernization programs to improve the performance, reliability and efficiency of the locomotives. so that means you can use the locomotive on the routes: Main-Spessart Bahn Rhein-Ruhr Osten Köln-Aachen Ruhr-Sieg Nord Niddertalbahn Hamburg -Lübeck Bremen - Oldenburg So you can drive the br 218 on almost all German routes, which it is also used for towing and that means that it is perfect to make great scenarios out of it. please always feel free to leave a comment which train I should do next
I've got good news for ya - it's coming! When? God knows. By Whom? Well, none other than TSG! (meaning that it's bound to be good) I think the BR 420 has priority, though.
Bring it on to the game you might as well need a second variation which has digital automatic coupler to run rescue duties with the High speed trains 401 403 & 406 Depot Moves 422 423 425 & 442 Red and Silver colours. For freight services it has to run with Automatic coupler Triangles equipped Roos-t Zacns Kjils Sggmrss Shimms U708 Shimms TTU Tadgs Grain Hoppers lastly the Laaers 560 autorack
So long as it’s not the version with the silenced exhaust. And as noted, WIP by TSG but god knows when it might land.
I could not agree more if they add them with tb10 or tb11 happy days, hellfire but if they add them with that pielstick or mtu 16 rubbish I would be so sad.
Still not really an answer to "when", considering this community seems to want to know the exact nanosecond a DLC releases.
Can’t be ruled out but the 420 has been in development since announcement for longer than a year, TSG has been redirected to work on other locos such as the ICE and I think the 110 if I remember correctly, not to mention the route and I assume 628 along with that route. I don’t think we could rule out that TSG may get involved with other locos beforehand and of course the 232 I look forward to seeing they’re work and I will wait patiently doing so
To give a realistic estimation on when a 218 could be done. The 3d art creation just begins. This will last for at least 6 months (hopefully not more, but who knows, it's 2 years for the 232 now). Then the technical and audio creation and will start. That, indeally, will take about 2-3 months. Then the game-play needs to be created what could take another months of work. Then testing and final bug fixing, another month. After all that, a potential release is possible. Just to give you an insight how long developing a loco takes when you are not having 20 pro people and tons of money to do it. I'ts a hard way that needs lots and lots of patience.
So Christmas then… Seriously Maik, take your time this will be a labour of love and well worth waiting for. By then we might have a classic route to run it on - Ulm to Kempten and Lindau, Lubeck to Kiel or maybe Puttgarden (I have a fetish about Puttgarden nearly as bad as my desire for buffet cars). Or the Altenbeken route from Zusi…
He also didn't mention having to do second party content with dtg so even longer depending on how many projects dtg calls the team to
