The Great Central mainline was the last steam rail network to be built in 1899, through 198.2 miles through Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham, Leicester, Rugby and London;because of limitations 87.7 miles from Rugby central to London Marylebone based in 1962, transporting both passengers and freight with yards and stations.(With the last steam routes for Train Sim World)The Jubilant Jubilees would be pulling express trains, The Strong 8f would pull heavy freight trains and the Petit 4f would pull stopping, shunting, small freight trains.Maybe joining the Crew would be The Majestic Coronation class for express passenger duties, The Powerful 9f for express freight and The Tiny 3f Jinty for stopping, shunting, small freight trains even maybe also some diesels like the class 33
A day one purchase for me no matter what but I think this could be a good way to introduce some LNER classes of loco. For me this route would have to include the V2s alongside our existing fleet of steam locos. The V2s being included could then lead to my dream steam route the East Lincolnshire Line being made. Also hate to be negative but it might be a bit too long as well. Nonetheless a brilliant suggestion mate and one I'd love to see in game.
I love your ideas of more varieties of locomotives but you are right the length is too long and with yards added on it would make the game crash
Yes, going off the top of my head Rugby to Nottingham may be a more realistic length, though I haven't got an exact distance, I think it's about 40 or 50 miles.
Okay that seems more reasonable and possible. The 40-50 miles would still be as fun and less well let’s just say glitchy
Aylesbury to Rugby for me or possibly Woodford to Anneseley so long as Charwelton and Catesby Tunnel are included.,
Yes it would be my preferred section really as I had spme family along the line between Loughborough and Nottingham, so would certaainly like to see it in game.
Me too because I grew up with the preserved Great Central Railway because it was a few villages away to get to Quorn or Rothley or Leicester North.Loughborough station is too expensive
Yes, I live in Lincolnshire so it is one of the closest to me which means I regularly vist the heritage line too. We usually go and park up at Rothley as the mrs has a couple of friends who live in Rothley so she'll spend a day with them and I'll speand a day riding on the GCR!
I love doing that but I do confess I don’t know what is better watching the trains go by or riding them but that’s off topic. The thing is that Dovetail used a lot of images and research on the past 2 routes and I haven’t found anything online but maybe in books route maps stuff like that.
If they did Leicester to Rugby it is only 19 miles making one of the shortest routes but Rugby to Nottingham is about 39 miles but we have had a Leicester station and Nottingham Station in TSW and we haven’t had Rugby so it depends on what dovetail decides
I think that the GCR have some good archives and there are some good quality books out there too. It should definitely be Rugby to Nottingham. The Leicester, Loughborough and Nottingham stations in game are different ones to the ones that would be on this route.
