Hi all, let's keep this to the question in hand as I just want to see what people feel about it but if DTG announced a new route in order to populate Birmingham new street what realistic route and loco would you pick and why? Post inspired by one I saw on facey.

London - Birmingham or Birmingham - Preston

Being realistic, Coventry to Wolverhampton would flesh out the West Midlands network nicely and put in place access to Soho Depot. For a little extra mileage, the Walsall Line(s) too. Train wise, 350 definitely and a 390 depending on licencing.

For freight also add in Stechford to Aston and Aston via Bescot and Willenhall to Wolverhampton.

Something with a Pendolino as it would populate so many of those empty stations.

390 is possible already, 350 very likely

Well, I’m going to assume that creating big chunks of the West Coast Mainline is unrealistic.

On that basis, as we’ve already got Bromsgrove to Lichfield Trent Valley, I think we may as well do route extensions of Lichfield TV to Derby and Bromsgrove to Cheltenham Spa. That would create a big chunk of the cross country mainline - over 75 miles from Derby to Cheltenham - with the difficult bit (through Birmingham) already done and Derby station already built too. Another modification of the HST to create the Cross Country version, more potential 158 schedules, and slow 323s running in between faster trains on a 2-track railway creating all sorts of intriguing scenarios.

It would be a lot of interesting railway for much less time, expense and effort than creating anything remotely comparable from scratch, and would link up two existing routes into the beginnings of a ‘network’.

I think the heavily speculated Birmingham to Crewe with the 350 and 390 could be a possibility. As for personal preference, I would like to see New Street to Shrewsbury with the WMR 170 and TFW 158. It would be a decent length and a nice variety in service patterns. Also the 170 could layer into BCC.

I would say London to Birmingham with the 390 and perhaps something else, though I think this route may be too much at the moment for TSW3 or maybe manageable.

The Snow Hill lines would be the proper route for the 172. I think it was mostly 170's on the Worcester and Hereford services prior to the new 19x units.

I’d love to see (DTG) Dovetail games to do a greater Anglia service from London Liverpool Street station to Southend Victoria, Colchester town and Colchester via Romford using a greater Anglia refurbished renatus class 321 and greater un refurbished class 321 and greater Anglia class 360

How about some new countries like the Netherlands (VIRM!) or France (many fun trains to choose from). Sweden has some great ones too.

How so I count 18 UK routes, 14 German routes, 11 US routes, 2 Swiss routes, 1 French , and 1 Canadian.

Looks like Gemany and US need to catch up.

Germany has been consistently getting routes from DTG since September, the only non third party releases we have had since then is BCC and Glossop line, Germany has gotten more DLC from DTG since TSW3 launched

Still think new countries entirely would be cool. Netherlands my first choice (VIRM!), Sweden, Italy all have some great scenery and great trains. Austria would be cool. More of France and Switzerland would be cool.

Do people prefer their own native country or places they have been or just places they are fans of? Maybe the customers are predominantly in the UK, US and Germany. I live in the US and I have fairly little desire for US routes especially because the passenger routes are somewhat limited in variety and I'm not into freight trains. After the disappointment of the Trenton-NY I am not too hopeful, although commuter railroads and metro and such always have some potential.

I guess what is good is to have something for everyone, so less repetition of what is already in the game.

If we're going to have any new non-UK content, it should be a rural branch line in Japan.

But having said that, Birmingham to Crewe. More UK content! ALL THE UK CONTENT.

    You forgot Peak Forest.

So with that math 3 UK routes and 3 German routes Kassel, Bremen, and Mainz since Niddertalbahn is a 3rd party one.

And the next DLC is a UK loco the Class 700. We havent had any new German loco DLC. So technically UK is just ahead until the German loco (Vectron) on the Roadmap is released.

And with 3rd party routes you have 2 for UK, Scotrail and MML. And only the one for Germany.

So they look pretty even to me. Seems the US needs to catch up.

I totally agree if it was my decision totally would like to see a new country. But DTG have told us before that there focus is on the so called big 3, UK, Germany, and the US and our best hopes are to rely on 3rd parties bringing in new countries.

But it would be a nice surprise to get maybe an Austrian, Italian or Japanese route.

Our rail system is garbage in Canada, espeally out west. So I would rather see any other country I'm not picky.

I enjoy alll the routes they have brought out some more than others, but mostly due to personal preference. But in a month I usually play every route at least once.

I actually already have more DLC than I remember, I've been avoiding this game due to a bug preventing me from driving what I wanted to the most, so I haven't really played TSW3 since the Steam Sale in December. Now I am looking at picking up a few more routes but this unfixed bug thing is bothering me. I don't understand how they can go on to new content when advertised features of old content aren't working.

German fans are spoilt enough, UK may have more routes, but German routes are better than a lot of UK routes

Here here I would love to drive MML with safety systems on. And there are other bugs. But I'm not really a gaming person so I'll I have installed on the Series X is TSW3. Its all I play.

But for a little context I stopped gaming in 2002. I don't own a PC and decided now my kids are grown and I have free time again to by myself a series X. After playing TSW2020 and TSW2 on my kids Xbox one during the pandemic I got my own console.

So your talking to someone who is still in awe of how much technology has improved.

So I guess I'm still in a honeymoon stage with the game.

We need more route like the (geml) great eastern main line as it would be good to have a greater Anglia class 321 and 360

So far as Germany is concerned, we need the Ruhr area knitting together with Dortmund and M.Gladbach added to make a massive network.

Then something more scenic such as the line from Innsbruck to Garmisch and Kempten.

There’s also plenty of scope to expand the area around Lubeck - out to Kiel, Puttgarden and Travemunde.

Another favourite of mine is the old Zusi 2 route around Altenbeken, or the Obereruhrtalbahn.

However it would be nice to see something from other European and indeed world countries.

UK just needs an AC based mainline e.g ECML or MML south, plus if either are dropping most likely it will come with German and US DLC like Rush hour or a new TSW.

Just saw this a well I have got to say it. The old eastern region of BR should have a representation as it is the ONLY BR region not represented in game yet.
Here is a quick map or two incase you don't know where it is:
