during this sale, i bought some DLCs, including Diesel Legends.
which has...not that favorable ratings in Steam market.
i bought this because i already got almost every major DLCs that i want but still want to buy something during this sale season.

i have neutral feeling about GWR. as far as i know this route was released at early era of this game series,
and i have to admit that considering age, it is good DLC.
But... my major complaint is about HST. start, stop, timetable end.

    ...really?
and another DMU is not my best beloved ones, so GWR remains as back-up route for me.

    then the class 52 came.

it still has... simple timetable, start, stop, end. which i still don't like much.
but somehow my trial on playing GWR was increased, with that loco.
of course it has even slower acceleration than HST, lower max speed about 25mph, worse brake application when stopping but somehow i think that it was a really good purchase and want to play more.

it was unexpected satisfaction for me, and with another purchase, Northern Transpennnine, i found trains of BR era has somewhat very unique...things that attract people quite a lot. i'm not even Uk citizen.
i even don't like diesel locomotives generally, but with dark green painting and that logo, it looks bit different now.

palnned to buy tees valley in next sale period, i bought bit too much for now...

Re the HST services, very few call between Paddington and Reading. The Oxford and Cotswold Line services call at Slough in both directions and there was a brief period a few years back when several Thames Valley semi fast peak services were formed by HST and would stop at Twyford and/or Maidenhead. However this is not really what the HST’s were designed to do and I know from working in Swindon Control at the time, they would lose time at stations even more so when calling between Reading and Didcot.

The 166 is pretty sweet on GWR though. Star of the route. GWR has a good amount of activity and I think you’ll feel a little more immersed in it when in the 166. More frequent stops means more opportunities to take everything in imo, rather than zoning out while in the HST.

actually you're right. Driving with 166 gives more interaction, but my interest is mostly on EMUs.

it is rather... emotional preference. still drive 166 sometimes :)

I was sort of the same way but I do get in the mood for DMU’s pretty often now. They’re different driving experiences for sure.

I agree, personally the BR diesels are what I enjoy most and really do have character about them. NTP is my favourite route and has been since the day it released. I am really looking forward the the JT route as well. Also highly recommend Tees Valley and the Class 31 and Class 20 dlcs for it, the heavy freight pack for NTP is another brilliant buy too!
