Yes my series S is actually matching the performance my PC and although it's a potato it is not too far out of date and was much, much more expensive than the console. Even with the full SEHS timetable I have had no issues with the series s and the only SEHS dlc I don't own is the RHTT.
Access to the Unreal Editor. At least half of the features folks are suggesting could be implemented with the editor.
Brilliant idea - a “pro mode” editor like FS2020 for those who’d like to get into the guts of the game and take it to the next level. By all means keep the simpler mode, but give the programmers amongst us a chance to really build something.
Bingo! I know one of the considerations regarding public access to the editor back in the day was potential criticism from regular everyday users who wouldn't have a clue in the world on how to use the Unreal Editor in any meaningful way. Simple solution is to keep the livery and scenario designer, albeit with some added features and additional flexibility, for those who want some level of customization without the complexity and release the Unreal Editor marketed to developers and advertise it as developer tools, so those who are willing to take up the challenge are able to and those who are not don't develop unrealistic expectations.
Deltics and Class 50s and other British "old skool" diesels that we haven't got already plus on the route side York or Leeds to Newcastle please pretty please pretty pretty please
This is what happened in the early days of Rail Simulator (now evolved into TSC). You had to apply for the tool set, which was free to use unless for commercial use where I believe a royalty of £1000 per route product was payable to Kuju, though that was subsequently dropped.
I’d certainly be happier paying for a decent dev kit than a lacklustre/broken DLC. I’d love to see DTG adopt Apple’s iOS / App Store type of model that sees TSW as an open development platform as well as a closed game engine. In the iPhone world you have those that just use the platform as a consumer and download the apps they want ( = DLC), plus an entire industry of devs both large and small supported by in-house development tools. The dev tools are free, but to publish your own apps you have to pay to get them on the App Store…
I actually hate the iPad etc game paradigm with a vengeance. Have games like Hay Day and Rival Kingdoms on mine (deleted Clash Of Clans andBoom Beach) but despite the “free” tag if you want to make significant progress then you have to spend real money on in game premium currency such as diamonds or rings. Rival Kingdoms has one such loot box for nearly £100! So I play them as far as I can get without spending real money as all that does is give you a slight boost for a while but there are always players higher than you who can wipe out your base in 10 seconds flat.
Exactly, SEHS runs at usually a consistent 40fps (with occasional drops to 25-30) which is very satisfactory for me and tbh I never really understood the recent fuss about the series S because it has always run fine with me
My laptop that launched xmas 2021 cost me £1000 in 2022, down from the original £1500 launch price, and can match my Series X on performance with like for like settings in most games. The S on the other hand more closely matches my £700 Ayaneo handheld, with the crucial difference that the Aya has 16GB of RAM.
I don't mean as far as DLC is concerned - I hate that too - I was talking about the whole ecosystem: if TSW was treated as a development platform with a toolkit that we could all use (if we want to) it could be so much more than it is currently. Let indie devs have a proper crack at modding it beyond the confines of the current editor, perhaps supported by an App Store-type distribution system. Completely agree that if DLC went the way of Clash Of Clans () it would kill it for me too. Probably didn't explain myself properly, I'm an iOS developer
This is inevitable since three games' worth of routes are in one game. One can't imagine a publisher going beyond the bare minimum required to make old routes from old games available in the new iteration - the litmus test would have been "Does the timetable work and does it crash?" (caveat, I'm aware that some conversions introduced issues that were not present in the original version) with the route getting a pass if those questions were answered yes and no respectively. Some old routes have been touched up for sure, but things like thumbnails, art styles and so forth would not be considered for an update. There should be consistency between all routes sourced from 2020, and again for all routes from 2, with 3 having another set of consistency
I agree. If you at least don't bring everything up to the same standard, make it at least very obvious that this is content from another generation of TSW.
Maybe Many Lines in 1 route as routes (I.e a Route consiting of Golden Valley Line, South Wales Mainline,Newport-Gloucester Line and Birmingham - Bristol Line) as well as International routes and more nations (Italy,Austria,South Africa and Australia would be nice). As well as more trains per route included (I.e a Class 172 on Cross City Line as well as the 323)
> What Would You Want To See In Tsw4 Support for low end video cars, like onboard, so it can be played on smaller sized laptops. Like 14" ones. Those do come with good CPU, like Intel7, but not with good GPU.
I am not very technical in all honesty but what I do know is that my PC is from a few years ago, does the job and has about the same performance as a series s, along with the fact the pricetag was a few times the price of the series s!
Obviously the ICE 4 for the 4th game of TSW (this is a joke, though, could be possible?) I wish for a route including stations in Berlin though. maybe a very large one with S-Bahn services, ICE and Regional trains going north perhaps. I mean, the capital of germany has to be included in TSW at some point, right??
You’d hope so, yes! I’d love to see the S41/S42 ring as DLC, and a Regio from say Potsdam across the city to Schönefeld / BER…
I thought the same about the Eastern Region, which is home to a lot of big names, locos and routes but DTG think otherwise.
I’d like to see this too, added officially and not just as a PC mod, so everyone can benefit from it. Perhaps if you make a separate thread about it, then it may get some attention. I have a few pictures I can post it in too
A complete functional dining car, serving up delicious meals so Vern doesn't get hangry. A mobile snack trolley a player could push up and down the aisle selling chocolates and morsels as a scenario. Could sell DLC costumes for the sales person (bunny, maid, butler etc). Otherwise, bugs squashed to jelly, a better scenario creator, functional intuitive map tools...err wait...yeah, I'll get my coat
Since I'm a US freight trains & railroad enthusiast, the thing i wanna see in the TSW4 is real DPU operation for modern US freight engines and route. That's it.
Added disaster scenarios to my list. There could be a house on fire near the rail tracks, you can see firefighters whilst you have to drive slowly. There are plants on most routes. One might have exploded and you see all these emergency services, helicopters, lights and sirenes. Fields have flooded after one of those dynamic weather storms, .... Time for DTG to buy some disaster assets and hire a Holywood director
There are pretty good options with the new weather system for adding the consequences of things like wildfires, etc.
not tsw4 for sure... at least till half of 2024, otherwise I will loose my trust remnants of DTG accountability and solidity. TSW 3 is half baked, so was TSW 2 and so on...
What type of plant, last time I checked my Marigolds weren't at risk of exploding. Is there an explosive species of plant if so pleaee do inform me!
German routes have lots of plants: The chemical plant in Dresden sounds like it might have some explosive stuff
Haha, yes I know what type of plants, I forgot that it's hard to show sarcasm over words. In seriousness I would imagine the line would just be shut though and it be a very rare occurrence anyway.
Ah, yes sorry, I may have accidentally missed that part when I got distracted by the plants. Not a bad idea then mate.
Also about in game weather delays, when there are snow storms, there should be limited speed limits on certain routes, and a snow cleaner scenario, or it can be in Timetable mode
Austrian routes, Passenger improvements (behavior, children, older people, etc), announcements (Stations, etc.),...
Damn! You got some really neat ideas. I'll put that on my list as well. Thank you for helping making this game better!
I know from my Controller days, a “simple” lineside fire could turn into a complete line blockage if acetylene bottles were involved. Even after the fire was out an extended cooling off period was required. Cue massive contingency plan to try and keep the train service running either side of the incident!
Ok, I'll write something too: • Improvement to Scenario's Planner: at least the same things that's we have in TSC • Improvement to Livery designer: more forms and text type • Better OHLE specially on switches and anchor points • A lots of improvement on the old routes to keep up to date • A more long drowning distance for tracks and some other objects that's pop-in at the moment as trees and shadows or a possibility to personalize this one in the options menu and not with the .in files • Better running sound (the other work's fine form me now)
Route mergers. Imagine driving from Wuppertal to Finnentrop, Reading to Harrow, Trenton to Atlantic city or Victoria to Eastbourne. It guarantees longer, updated and improved routes with bug fixes for older trains.
there are two routes both with dresden central station, imagine both routes in one, especially because on one of the two routes, ICE services are active, but on the other one with the exact same station does not have ICE services anymore
