I guess everyone is just a bit on edge following things getting a bit out of control over the weekend. Anyhow apologies offered to DadRail (if he lurks here) for implying anything improper might have occurred. And now back to our regular scheduled speculation!
Talking about Speculation I made a thread for MML vs ECML for 700. fun times ahead https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/mml-vs-ecml-for-thameslink-700s.71448/#post-675905
If I pay $60-$70 for TSW4 and still have cars driving through my train and through each other, NPCs lifting off their seats or walking into fences, stutter (because of non-optimization), floating trees and hills, unexplained impassible red lights and [add your own here]; then all I am left with is having to save up for TSW5. Right? PC Ryzen 7 RTX 3060
And it is coming sooner than you think.................. FFS, calm down. If you haven't got a sense of humour that isn't Vern's or anyones fault bar your own You got nowt to apologise for mate. Dadrail himself would have seen the joke I'm sure.
Just to pick up on this - don't forget that Skyhook also develops games by themselves. It may be that they want to create more lawn mowers in UE5. It might be that they anticipate a UE version change of TSW in future - because at some point DTG will of course go for UE5. They have, just to make sure their devs are up to date and they're still competitive. But it doesn't prove that these changes come this year, if TSW4 releases. It might be more something for TSW 5-ish.
also how long will Epic themselves actually support UE4 ? maybe a few more years but I suspect in maybe 3 years or so they may drop support and try to get people on UE5. I think they will switch over eventually but may be worked on in the background until its ready while they release new TSW games in the meantime
Might be wrong there, but didn't they stop support already ? If I read it correctly on the net, the latest version of Unreal 4 is 4.27.2 and from 2021. So they stopped support already I think ?
Which is not widely spoken here. This is an English language forum, if you are unable or unwilling to converse in anything other than French then you need to find a forum that suits your needs. Or swallow your pride and use Google Translate .
It is one of my biggest peeves that the only thing I have the option to hide are the next signal/next speed limit HUD displays when, frankly, those are the only elements of the HUD I want to use besides maybe the next objective/clock element to the top left. Being able to toggle each individual element of the HUD is a must for immersion, realism, and accessibility, imo, and I see no reason why it hasn't been implemented yet.
You can remove MOST elements of the HUD individually using either keyboard shortcuts OR through the settings menu. The only one that you can't remove individually is the next objective/time bar in the top left. You can still remove it by hitting F1 or long pressing the start button on console, which will remove the entire HUD.
Once again proven wrong on the forums... You made my day, though, this is awesome! I can't believe I hadn't seen those before now. Quite literally exactly what I was describing
You can individually turn off the upcoming signal & speed thingy on the top right. That's the way I drive all the time !
That, I've been aware of for a while thanks to it being in the HUD settings menu. But thank you. Those are the two actually useful pieces of info for me in the HUD other than the time and distance to next waypoint/current objective. I'm still going to take the standpoint that it's misleading to have menu options and keybinds for two HUD elements but only keybinds for the rest. I use mouse controls for all driving other than the camera, horn, and sometimes throttle and/or brakes if they're in an awkward position (looking at you, Electrostars!) and they're exactly the same as they were on my first train sim (TRS2006) so I didn't have to dig through keyboard commands to operate any of the locomotives due to how I personally play the game. With that, I simply never investigated the "Locomotive" keyboard shortcuts so even though I've been playing since HH I only just found about about this. Am I ignorant at times? Yes. But is this even referenced in the manual? No(!). It isn't an unreasonable mistake to make and it seems like a 1-stop fix if it's already implemented as a keyboard shortcut. DTG Matt DTG JD I'm not looking for a comment on the thread topic here but if you could look into putting the other HUD options in the HUD settings submenu it'd be a huge QOL boost and I'm sure it'd be much appreciated by people like me Edit: well, and I use keyboard for AWS, the bell/guard buzzer, sometimes the reverser, and to make the HUD completely go away for screenshots and to take said screenshots, but you get what I mean.
There’s no need to insult, if you’re upset because it’s hard for you to understand that you have to use a translator then we can’t help you, it’s sunny today you can enjoy that beautiful day outside don’t you think ?
You're right about some options only being available on keyboard and I've suggested before the BEST way (I can think of) to expose the HUD customization is to slap the HUD in your face and you just click on and off the elements you want to see on screen. It makes it more intuitive for the user and should work with both mouse/keyboard and controller. There is also other HUD options in Accessibility such as cursor customization and speedometer size that can be useful.
It literally translates as “Yes, French here”, but I’m pretty sure they mean “Yes French is spoken here too”, in other words they seem to think this is a multilingual forum (French is fortunately my second language). Désolé truttmann, il faut discuter en anglais dans ces forums, mais il existe des forums TSW francophones non officiels ailleurs si tu cherches.
I just ran it through translate, and that’s what came back, and going by “tg” I think they seem to be more of a spammer than anything else but I could be wrong.
Would it be possible that a new feature that this new core update or TSW4 is going to have is having to separate the Gen 8 and Gen 9 timetables, maybe a layer toggle switch. I don't see DTG dropping Gen 8 but rather be able to support them separately. I can't see them just dropping Gen 8. Just a speculation
Go ahead it’s not like we’re missing something trying to communicate with that member, even in my mother tongue I can’t understand what he says…
I'm quite happy to run through Google Translate if someone genuinely wants help and can't speak English but they just seem to be spamming. And even though I don't speak much French myself, I have always enjoyed travelling in France and the French people who were always very friendly and helpful despite my butchering the language...
On all the UE5 talk, holding off on such a transition continues to prove the prudent call, as Epic only just finally in UE 5.2 added tech that lessens (but does not eradicate) the infamous Unreal Engine shader compilation stutter. It manages to reduce a bunch of the spikes from 500ms in UE5.0 to 50ms in UE5.2, and combined with shader precompilation for a majority of shaders, this technique of asynchronous caching and skipping drawing some materials or effects where the shader is not ready, ought to catch a majority of stutter, if all correctly implemented by devs. Sadly, the engine remains behind on key modern CPU features like multithread performance scaling, where it continues to have diminishing returns unlike something like REDengine, where performance just keeps on increasing the more CPU power you throw at it.
Just remember, in TSC we have passengers using phones on the platforms. In TSW, we have dead looking zombie passengers and these have not changed over 3 versions. The ambient sounds need updating too, not always is the loco or route required to move with the times, but the ambience and environmental structure also.. Everything seems so dull on TSW, I can't figure out what though..
And most of the zombie looking passengers refuse to get on any trains. They seemed to just like to stay on the platforms
I always put that down to them seeing me driving, maniacal grin on my face and thinking, “Not a chance in hell…”
Ironic thing is that DTG said that issue was somewhat resolved yet I've had that issue multiple times.
I wonder if we are going to get same as last year, 24 hour clock down with hints of audio stock and visuals hints…
Most of it was the cryptic shots of what turned out to be the wretched Training Centre, sorry, Center.
A theory, based on nothing but wonder! What if… TSW3 was never due to launch last year, but after the leak they had to rush to get it out while there was still hype around it, thus rushing a product to market with all the issues etc we’ve seen. Maybe if TSW4 is coming this year, could it be what they always intended TSW3 to be before they had to rush to market? No fact or info on that, just my idle mind wondering! I’ve always wondered if TSW3 was a rush job post leak as it never felt properly finished!
9 pages and counting and DTG still haven't the balls to deny or confirm. Anything else they would stop the rumours early, so why is talking about TSW4 different. Could it be true? hahahahaha.
i’m not even gonna be surprised if it is true lol, they’ve never been this quiet, atleast in a long time anyways
I suspect that would be the case. Basically a one, two, three or four route option depending on what they are. Bear in mind last year only Cajon and the Kassel route were new, new. SEHS was a previous route rejigged and extended with SoS not long released. Price wise well I think we will see £29.99 for the single route starter pack, £39.99 for the two route pack and £49.99 for three routes. So brace your wallet!
I wondering if the German loco and JT route will be part of a bigger bundle? Unless those items are releasing before or after….. l
i would expect the Vectron to be released maybe in august? so we can have something new meanwhile we wait for TSW4
I think the JT route will be its own entity. Ormskirk to Blackpool (we think) as much as we are all looking forward to it, is not quite in the high profile category. More than likely the UK route will be an AC line incorporating the Class 700.
My working theory is thus: - All current versions of TSW3 (SKUs) will be delisted, including the starter bundles, but not the themed bundles (eg. SEHS bundle just out, or the US ones with multiple routes) - TSW3 Ooh La La edition (or whatever its called) will become the new "standard" version with three new route bundle in the same manner as Rush hour edition - RRP will be set at the same price as TSW3 standard last year (£39.99) - There will be three new starter packs, one for each country's route, set at £29.99 RRP - This will not be TSW4 - DTG JD will leak its existence while chatting with Jasper_Rivet on Discord on a live stream
