I would imagine this is all part of the plan at this point. You can't have a major release without JD taking some hits.

He's been remarkably quiet on that front lately. Maybe his shiny Director badge has an audible reminder every 30 minutes that says "JD, remember not to leak things"

Oh you poor, poor soul! Going through there most days of my life for the past however many years has had a severe impact on my brain, living there is unimaginable. There are a couple of acceptable parts but for the most part it's a tip (to use nice words). No offence aimed at you here mate just a lot of sympathy!

Yes, the only places in Peterborough I would consider not a tip are Longthorpe and Werrington Village. I don't know how well you know the area but my daughter used to live in south Bretton but in the big houses in the supposedly nicer bit near the Fitzwilliam hospital and I had my car egged. I refused to enter Bretton again! Anyway to keep on topic, I think no matter what there will be something from DTG but what it will be branded as is the unknown factor. It would seem strange to release a new edition considering how long TSW 3 supposedly took, but who knows? We don't.
Well if it's true TSW4 coming out this summer, at least it should worth every penny I'm gonna spent on it. Just cross your fingers guys.
I think you might be onto something. As many of us know, tsw3 was leaked in a message from JD to jasper from rivet. The message read ‘I believe that sparks are a tsw3 feature’ This message, I recall, was sent around the time that Isle of Wight 2022 was released (almost a year ago) and the route was the first in tsw with sparks. I doubt that dtg would’ve been ready to announce tsw3 less than a month later, and the speculation may have forced them to
I've gotten past the stage of moaning now because you just know it's going to happen one day for sure. I wonder what the record is on steam for sequels? TSW50? I won't mind as long as it comes with 3 decent new routes, that softens the blow a little, as long as DTG don't cheat and just extend a current route by a few miles like they did with SEHS, no extensions, new routes and locos please.
It's happening, when is the debate. I often chuckle at comments that say weres the proof. Just go back and see every summer they go quiet and then the PR goes off big time.
I will not count on that. If you will want users to buy new TSW 4 what will be your strategy ? For example my will be create hint in timetable what is coming (already done with extra vectron layer), make users excited for new loco and then release that loco with TSW 4 so you push little bit other users to switch from TSW 3 to TSW 4.

It was much more work than just new track. The old track to some extent was relaid, scenery redone, new ohle, brand new timetable, new approach control, etc. All that was a ton of work

Maybe but it wasn't new was it? If they are going to charge us a full game price for what amounts to a core update which a lot of gaming devs give their customers for free, then at least give us 3 new routes as they did with TSW2.
I suspect that there is no TSW4! Some have been saying that DTG should make TSW like TSC and have a core that they update and have everything else as DLC. Well if you think about it that's exactly what they have done with TSW3! The ONLY part of the game you HAVE to have is the Training Centre (spelled correctly!) Everything else is DLC. Loco packs are now attached to the Training Centre instead of specific routes i.e you can buy the RHTT, ROG 37 and 700 without having to own SEHS. I get the feeling that from now on we're going to be getting something along the lines of the Rush Hour release (only not so messed up)
The thing is people said this last year... 'oh it cant be TSW3' then came along the announcement, as was leaked and expected. I guess only time will tell if this is a repeat.

Do you think they will? If "TSW 4 the pink polka dot with red white and blue stripes" edition is in fact a thing do you think they will tell us just after its been leaked in an announcement? After months or weeks of planning the date and locking it down. Then planning a host of announcements concluding in the date. Do you think they are going to abandon that and say yes TSW 4 the pink polka dot with red white and blue stripes" edition is coming exactly as it says in the leaked article?. I dont think so. They will carry on regardless until said date of release of news to the community. Hentis
The only response to release a the next tsw is for multiple player, guard mode and on board announcements but that does have copyright issues, it will be for at least one of these for a feature. Island Line 2022 did add a new feature in which was sparks which is now standard in the game now. Glossop has added a guard mode as a new feature. Tsw4 quite possibly of been a move by the company that owns DTG for something, so a French route could be on the way as one of the base routes

How are we going to get multiplayer when we don't have a dispatching/signalling system that can work around things such as trains that decide they have gone to cook Sunday Lunch while leaving the player in the cab. TSW hasn't been built well for multiplayer and would need other features bringing in first.
I agree no need for Multiplayer and we do need another game full of bugs. DTG lets get TSW3 running correctly and well. Happy for yearly add ons like Rush Hour etc, but not a TSW4. So much to do yet to improve TSW3. Get TSW3 right and then drop the 3. TSC and TSW is the way forward imo. That’s what they have done in the past and will do again in the future.
Can't disagree multiplayer isn't needed the game wasn't built for it. As you say about the bugs, people leaving the game to do other things and not existing the game will get annoying it does happen in other game you get the players that dont move. Tsw4 doesn't need to happen to be honest at the moment future yes now no
hi all I don't think TSW4 will come out as we only just got TSW3 last September I think what you will see is a core update from UE4 to UE5they will probably do a UE4 4.27 update for the older Gen leaving out the older Gen console and older PC that's PS4 and Xbox one and even older PC on Windows 7/8 you will probably see TSW4 in 2026 on UE5 for PS5 and Xbox s/X and Newer pc leaving out older Gen I think what will happen is that PS5 user will haptic feedback and the rest will get the standard as the New xbox s/x and pc don't have haptic feedback better Lighting and better graphics what I like to in TSW3 is sitting down on the Seat's on the platforms like we have in training centre I like to Train station announcement and onboard announcement longer routes I thing DGT should add the thameslink core from Bedford to brighton via London bridge I wouldn't believe what other people stay all what Im staying is my own opnion
"Fix TSW3 before releasing TSW4" sounds very much like "Why did they release TSW3 without fixing TSW2"
The evidence is unfortunately quite strong in opposition of this. The most damning IMHO is the removal of 3 from Game Pass and a suspicious lack of routes on the roadmap, with a focus on 'core improvements' (as others have noted this was exactly the events in the leadup to 3's release). The real question is what will it contain? Guard mode? Multiplayer? A NYC Subway route? More Tube?
Same as TSW2020. Also never properly fixed. However with TSW3, the user interface is better than in TSW2, but just as bug ridden.
I'd agree, evidence that something is going on by the fact it's all gone quiet and the road map is bare. New owners now also and any major new feature will need to be funded somehow. Many games have a yearly edition it's just most don't allow previous content to be rolled forward. The next roadmap probably be either an announcement or a diversion article talking about fixes......
"Not developing further upgrades" is not the same as "stopping support." Microsoft stopped development (i.e new editions) of Vista, 7 and 8 years ago, but only this year announced stopping support (i.e. bugfixes and security updates) for the former two, while 8 is still supported.
I agree. The timespan after TSW3 is too short. In addition, they already said somehow, that they now focus on improvements as far as I remember.
