After reading again a lot of posts in numerous threads suggesting to ditch gen 8th consoles and also looking at the reality of their being still a lot of gen 8th consoles and the Series S that will have to be supported way longer than the 8th gen consoles I was wondering why there is no performance mode? Wouldn't it be more reasonable to have different modes for current and previous generations catered to performance? When I read that lighter timetables are being implemented I understand that limiting the performance is restricted to that route. Why isn't there a setting that limits the entire game on 8th gen and not just that specific route? That same mode would also give me better performance on 9th gen when I favour performance over graphics.
I might be wrong, but I believe the Gen8 effectively already has that. I understood that the detail level, fps and physics are all pitched at a lower level than their PC counterparts already.
I said this in another thread but my Series S has very good performace getting about 50 fps on SEHS (full timetable) and only dropping to 30 around hoo. I actually prefer using it over my PC these days which I only use for Transport Fever 2 now. Also as JetWash said this has already been done for gen 8 and as I say doesn't need to be done for the Series S.
What 50 fps on the most intensive route. On routes like NTP or BCC I get a solid 60 which is the maximum.
