No NTP? That’s one route I wouldn’t mind adding to my PS5 (di)version.

I wish , but we never have had a full xbox sale, just the occasional bits and pieces. I need horseshoe curve as the only route I have not purchased and will have to make that my Christmas present at full price, unless it’s in a never ever sale!!!

Someone, anyone! I have to know: Is the DB BR 363 worth it right now if I already have the blue 363 from Dresden-Riesa?

Totally! If you have RSN. Get ready for some real shunting fun. :)
    She's underemployed on DRA.

You need RSN for that one. However it add a lot of service, AI, a new freight car (cement), and a lot static stock for RSN. Also it layer on hamburg-lubek that adds some shuting services near hamburg and near lubek. For the loco, it's identical to the blue version on DRA

Can somebody give me the latest on the Cajon SD70? I recall there being issues with the brakes in MU set-up. Were those issues ever resolved?

    WCL, Luzern, Cane Creek?
The first 2 are cheap but are they worth the bother? WCL has the 150 though...
CC looks dreary and it's 15 quid. I like US freight but isthis too slow?
Should I just bite the bullet and pay 18 for BCC?

    Any insights welcome.

I own all and of them all I play Luzern the most. The unit is modeled well. There's not a lot of variety in the services and night time running is a bit pointless but it's a good looking route with a good unit, perfect for if you want a half hour play.

WCL has a bit more variety. If you want a long run take a 37 the full length of the line. If you want a short run play the 150 on the branch. I must say though, personally I find the scenery a bit boring along the main line.

CC I have only played a couple of times. The scenery down the bottom of the line is lovely, but less so at the top. I'm not into US freight really though!

I'd go for LUZ or WCL if I were you. LUZ would be my choice.

As I believe a 20% discount is a fair offer for a recent route, I am currently downloading Peak Forest. I may be driving a small steam loco later this evening if I have time.

Cane Creek is a slow grind but parts of the route have some of the best scenery in the game. There are sections where you have to swap between applying power and dynamic brake to keep to the slow speed limits but if you are anything like me there is the danger of nodding off to sleep when driving on this route. It’s better when using external cameras to look at the scenery, I’ve never managed to stay in cab view for a full run.

    Thanks for the recommendations.
Luzern bought for now, although I've already picked up db187+204 and Island line 22.
BCC isn't exciting me as it should. Another day.

Why is the Thread about active sales saying these will end on the 16th when the ps store says the 2nd?

That’s a great bunch of routes!

Regarding the sale in general, great to see lots of variety in there. Luzern and BCC look interesting, but I guess my recent Glossop purchase has already satisfied the “shorter route” and “Class 323” itches ;). I would prefer a longer route, and Left Rhine seems to be in a really good place after the big fixes it received recently. Hamburg-Lübeck is also a good choice ever since Joe introduced the updated timetable.
But I don’t really want to spend lots of money now just for them to release the Just Trains route and rumored summer bundle a few weeks later. Will have to wait and see… hopefully they announce more details before the sale ends!

For someone who enjoys the slower, rustic setting of West Somerset, is West Cornwall a similar experience? Thanks in advance! :)

In this sale some items are discounted until the 15th and some (including all TSW routes apparently) until the 3rd. Makes me wonder whether there's a secound round of discounts coming, e.g. for MML, NTP and the like.

West cornwall is faster, but in terms of the 150, it is quite poor compared to other tsw dlcs. It has a rural feel to it and the branch line adds more variety and the beach looks quite nice to look at. Players also mentioned the poor scenery that is not representative of wcl, but I can't tell and it's not bad bad. There are br blue layers such as the 101, 08 and 47 which is also not realistic, but there if you want to use them which are much better than the 150 itself. Sounds and physics are not great

I gave in and got Harlem. I’m usually not into these start-stop commuter routes but liked the scenery in the promo shots and the intricate safety systems of the NE USA have me hooked. Will see how I get one with it but definitely like what I’ve seen so far.

Just to let everyone know two new items have just gone on sale on PlayStation, with New York Trenton 35% off and Edinburgh to Glasgow 30% off, there may be more add ons added but those were the ones that were on my wishlist :)

So many new additions to the second half of the big sale. I’m going to try and whittle it down a bit and only get some of the ones that caught my eye so that I don’t have to eat baked beans for a month.

I just bought Standard Edition on PS5 and man, this game is great! I’m looking to buy more packs on sale, but can anyone speak to how the older packs hold up visually? Looking at Bakerloo and Harlem Line. I really want them all, lol, but I’m barely out of the training center and already bought Sherman Hill too.

Boston-Providence is also 50% off (just added in U.S) so I’m grabbing that for sure. Really want a London and/or German route too, but the German ones are so confusing, I got the Standard Edition so I think it has the longest route, can anyone recommend a pack without abbreviation?!
Thanks I’m advance for any responses, I’m happy to jump into this now, even if a new game is announced soon, this feels like a great introduction point and hopefully the maps will continue to be supported on the new game too.

Bought it yesterday and can confirm you to wait because even on sale it's a big let down at the moment. It looks like a route that could be awesome but I'm afraid this is going to take a very long time.

Don’t know if any of them are on sale currently, but some of the all-time greats are London Commuter (the London-Brighton route) and Nahverkehr Dresden (the Dresden-Riesa route). Those are probably good places to start.

Awesome thanks, this must be what everyone refers to as DRA. The London Commuter is definitely one I had my eye too so glad to have that confirmed.

This game is so addicting, the meta is researching the packs and DLC! I’m new to the franchise but hooked for sure. Now if the wife will just go to bed…lol

Yes, the acronyms can be confusing. DTG´s naming convention - if there´s one at all - probably came out as a result of a drunken brainstorming session.

For starters: Guide On Route Acronyms

The list wasn´t updated for quite a while, but that´s just good old DTG tradition. It´ll come soon™.

Don´t make the mistake to think old=good, new=always better. There´re many older routes that were clearly designed with much more love and dedication to detail than some newer ones. When it comes to german routes, I´d suggest you consider Ruhr-Sieg-Nord (RSN), Main-Spessart-Bahn (MSB) and Rhein-Ruhr-Osten (RRO). They easily hold up to the newer routes and run smoother than, say, DRA which can be a stutter party on some spots. At least on PS.

And don´t get carried away by enthusiasm overdrive (like me sucker). You can easily empty your wallet by a few hundred bucks in no time. Wait for the sales (usually summer sales like the ongoing) and EoY sales.

Haha, so true and thanks for trying to speak some reason to me, it certainly is easy to get carried away when there’s a sale. I’m “frugal”, aka cheap, so I can’t resist maps under $10.
    How it started : I had a free $10 PlayStation card…
    Standard Edition $11.99
    How it’s going…
    Sherman Hill $15
    Boston - $15
    SPG - $6
    Bakerloo $6
    Money in the wind.
Probably grabbing London Underground and DRA for $15 each…might wait for a steeper discount than 50%. Add it all up and I could have bought a new release that I’m too “frugal” to pay full price. This sale was perfect timing, I’m grabbing everything I can that more than 50% off as this obsession is real!

Is Bremen – Oldenburg worth it? Wasted money a few days ago on NYC - Trenton but there is still the hope for a remake of fix but I'm not sure if Bremen – Oldenburg needs one or even will get one.

I’m currently in the UK and exploring lots of train journeys. Many of our day trips were inspired by routes I already own (like London Commuter and ECW = We went from London to Brighton and Seaford last Saturday). But we also encountered DLCs I didn’t own yet. We rode the new Island Line trains, took the Class 700 from Brighton to London Bridge and went from Edinburgh to Glasgow. I already bought Island Line 2022 yesterday shortly before the discount on that DLC ended, and will be picking up Edinburgh-Glasgow as well. Will probably be doing a detailed trip report in the Off-Topic section at some point :D

Might be wrong in saying this but it seems like half the sale ended yesterday and the other half is ending on the 16th.

Definetly a good time to buy a couple of DLC's for cheap for TSW4 as that should carry over.

I myself luckily brought myself the game yesterday morning with the SEHS super bundle and was thoroughly enjoying it. Probably going to buy LBN nearer the deadline.

Going to give a quick list of whats now on sale:
All new journey dlc's: 1.64£ (individually) (45% off)
    Acela: £10.49 (30% off)
    Bremen: £20.99 (30% off)
    Cajon Pass: £17.99 (40%)
Loco addon Bundle 1: £6.89 (40% off) All indivual are £2.99 (40% off)
    NY - Trenton: £20.99 (30% off)
    Boston Sprinter: £13.74 (45% off)
    Kassel-Wurzburg: £17.99 (40% off)
    Scotrail Express: £22.49 (25% off)
    Southeastern Highspeed: £17.99 (40% off)
    Spirit of Steam: £17.99 (40%)
    The Holiday Express: £3.59 (55%)
Heriatge UP livery pack: £6.64 (30%)
West Cornwall Steam Railtour: £7.11 (25% off)
Bakerloo line + Silver 1972 stock bundle: £6.24 (75% off) - Probably the best deal out of everything on sale currently
Brighton Main Line: £13.74 (45% off)

Depends on what you’re into. First of, I agree with Mattty May that the stutters on BRO are the worst I’ve seen in TSW3.

The Br 110+n-Wagen+Karlsruher Kopf are excellent - doubly so if you’re into vintage rolling stock. Only issue is the faulty pneumatic-electric brakes interlock resulting in over aggressive braking performance. The 155 is a good upgrade from the RSN version.

The timetable is quite good in my opinion. Besides the typical push-pull REs and RBs, there’s also two runs with loco runarounds instead. The RBs are complete runs turning back at either end. The freight trains stop to be overtaken and also serve a very short branch/connecting line. Lots of rolling stock is layering in (ICE1, Br 101, Br 612, …) and substituting. There are also some interesting ECS moves with mixed consists (IC coaches+n-Wagen+DoStos if memory serves) and a short museum excursion (Br 363+n-Wagen).

Apart from the performance, the biggest letdown is probably the route itself. The termini stations are very interesting and busy with lots of AI and static stock. The rest of the route, however, is almost exclusively 160km/h straight track. Not much to see apart from the termini and the folding bridge. What’s there is nicely done to my mind, but the track layout just is not the most interesting.

I’d say consider the the performance most closely. I’m not overly sensitive to bad performance but even I have to say that BRO is atrocious in that department. If you can live with that, the timetable and vintage rolling stock are strong selling points, but somewhat diluted by a route that’s not going to take your breath away.

I'm very sensitive to stutter so it's gonna be a pass. Also very sensitive to bad audio. I probably have already enough routes
