I think that the next U.S route should be a passenger like route LIRR. I think this because the Main Spessart Bahn route is most freight. I was wondering how to you feel about this. TrainSim-Dmitri
Well, I think you know the answer - I cannot confirm or say anything about upcoming routes. You will find out about them only during the official announcement, or due to some sort of a leak. Personally, of course I think it needs to be either US or UK route, as we have quite a lot of German content.
You can NEVER have enough freight routes... . But would like a US freight where we have several local industries to service - yards to make and break up trains - not looking for a long haul slog route like HH - but on where you would have switchers - multiple types of lineside industries. Could really care less if it is US UK or DE as long as you have the above.
Conversely, I think we've had enough American passenger. In real life, US trains are mostly freight, so the game should have more of that- we only really have CSX:HH and, what, 8 miles of NEC? That being said, this passenger vs. freight thing never made much sense to me- I enjoy driving both. If you don't want a passenger route, don't buy a passenger route, and vice versa. Or, as we've seen before, the route will contain both freight and passenger.
Double deck cars don't go to Philadelphia in real life because they don't fit in the tunnel to New York Penn Station. No Amtrak trains terminate in Philadelphia that need double deck cars.
Could be. I'd be fine with that, although I would like to see other parts of the US in some of these routes. We've seen New York twice, and that would be the second route through the same mountains in Pennsylvania. I'd still buy it, but I would prefer something else. Anyway, whatever it is, I'd expect it to be announced late next month or in April. 'Till then, it could be anyone's guess.
Main-spessart bahn might get a diesel switcher... The dock area is gonna become a huge switcher playground when that gets released
I think it's time to get an all freight route into the game LIRR and NTP where both all passenger routes
There is a better chance they bring back a flip-board display like the old Solari board at 30th Street before we ever see double-decker cars below 30th Street. On top of 30th Street though, we are only a few years away from SEPTA getting some multi-level cars... RIP the flip board though.... that was a piece of art.... I doubt we will see another NEC route for a little bit. Variety is needed in American content. Rant aside, I think we will get something on the west coast, maybe California. I could see the Surfliner being brought to TSW or even Caltrain. With either of those options, freight can be included as well. Although this is long (over 50 miles), I could see something like Los Angeles to San Clemente, there is a large Amtrak yard just south of San Clemente and can act as a good starting/stopping point. LA being Union Station. Mostly single track too. Freight can work along the route too
Would love to see a desert-like Western or perhaps a Mid-Western U.S. kinda route located somewhere in Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, Nevada or Arizona! Maybe UP, SP, D&RGW or some good ol' Santa Fe or BNSF. Not important... But I'm only interested in U.S. based stuff (and will only purchase this kinda stuff).
I passed up LIRR because it was passenger-only, and I'll do the same it it's like that. I prefer freight routes, especially with switching. Considering nearly 90% of the US rail traffic comprises freight trains, it's way more representative to not get another passenger trainset this time around.
