Probably as it is a mine of information for DTG on what people are thinking and are looking for in the future
This thread must be a source of great entertainment for DTG, and I imagine there is much chuckling being had behind the scenes as forum folks throw their guesses and tin-foil hat theories in the ring.
TSW could be moving to a yearly new game release. It may have moved to a yearly new game release last year but we didn’t know because it was the first one. 2022 TSW3 2023 TSW4 2024 TSW5 2025 TSW6 …and so on.
I haven't been around too much here recently but stumbled upon a one-man UE5 project on Youtube recently: Was this discussed around here? If one person was able to create THIS and DTG was upon the first companies to be working with UE5 (whatever that meant) I wonder what the outcome could be... Most likely it comes down to the possibility of finding a way to convert current TSW3 products to UE5 with the minimum possible effort... which then would explain breaching the usual 2-year product cycle. Let's hope, I personally fear driving something like the above video sounds too good to be true - but with Cities Skylines 2 and Forza Motorsport upcoming I fear it will be a busy autumn
That does look interesting but a bit abstract - is it for an official industry driver training scheme, a new train sim in development or just a concept knocked together. Obviously the signal logic not addressed as all showing green.
It’s just a small scene by the looks of it. It just happens to be a railway station with trains in it. Who knows how many months of work went into this one small scene.
That silence from DTG and almost empty road map can only mean that TSW 4 is coming. It was the same last year. I dont think we will see UE5 this year as its only one year since DTG started playing with UE5. So maybe TSW 5 will come with UE5. So far TSW 3 is already using some stuff from UE5 so they are mixing engine versions like with 4.16. So i can imagine that they will not use UE5 because of World Composition and they will stick with UE 4 and they will just keep adding features from UE5 to keep it compatible with World Composition. Or they will just add that World Composition support to the UE5 Lets just wait what will TSW 4 bring to us. I hope in something big.
If DTG were to treat its customers openly then yes they should now say so now that the the 'cat is out of the bag', not everyone is well off and a couple of months notice would be very welcome I'm sure. But that isn't the point. The point is they HAVE NOT denied it like they usually do when someone asks something about the game which has people reasonably thinking that it is true, don't you? Going by DTG's track record (pun not intended) they will go ahead like they did with TWS 2 and ignoring all the bugs there including all the bugs with Rush Hour which is still not implemented right. With TSW3 all they did was import all the bugs from TSW2. DTG come across childlike as they can only see the next shiny thing and not getting the bugs sorted so the next shiny thing can run properly. TBH the only way they solve the bugs is to start again but I cannot see that either.
Would love to see some Aussie routes in game. Especially some of the coast to coast routes like the Gahn
In the youtube comments the creator says there is no physics behind it, so its just an art project. Mind you, if DTG were looking for UE artists, its not a bad resume...
I am not convinced TSW4 is coming this year; going by release history we are more likely to see a Rush Hour-esque release for the summer. The roadmap also went quiet leading up to the Rush Hour release in 2021....but hey, it's fun to speculate
What is rush hour now? Passengers stand at the stations and do not even get on the train. There were also very few of them. I do not understand why they turned off the whole idea with passengers? And umbrellas in the snow... I don’t know what kind of chip they will shove into part 4. But TSW 3 was a great disappointment.
The new thing will have a feature. As long as it sells then then it's a success in DTGs eyes regardless of bugs. My moneys on some kind of ECML set modern day with the 700 and an Azuma. People will buy it even if it has a permanent nuclear sky, Passengers flying straight up and down at high speed, Lights on the wrong end of trains (reds on front), 66s on RHTTs for the 10th time, A kings Cross so quiet that it could be Christmas day, no saves, stutters, Signals stuck at red and a promise that all will be patched up sometime......
That is way too boring. Maybe the Adelaide to Port Augusta section...... But I think they will do a Sydney or Melbourne commuter route first. Blacktown to Chatswood would give a massive variety plus you get to go over the Harbour bridge. Melbourne could have the Frankston line or Pakenham, or Lilydale with branches to Glen Waverly..... A freight in the country line would be nice, but I am unsure it will sell much. You would need to find a bunch of us Aussies who want to make one and crowd fund. We could pay for 3d models to be made and then volunteer to build it ourselves or pay a team to do it. If we crowd fund enough we could have our development team. But no one wants to do it.
It will probably be Puffing Billy… Still rate the old Coals To Newcastle route from MSTS, very well done and a pleasure to drive, in Open Rails at any rate. But as you say it looks like the bulk of the Australian train sim community have little or no interest in TSW (or TSC) with most tending to gravitate towards Trainz.
You open the doors at start of a journey: everyone out, noone in. Get the fully empty train all the way. That's perfect, no need to fix.
Very good points indeed. Would need something that would be marketable world wide. Running across the Sydney Harbour Bridge might do the trick. Coal lines in the Hunter....nice but would it sell? Puffing Billy, you probably have a list of 50 heritage railways worlwide before they even get to that.... There is a strong demand for steam in Europe and the USA.... so I think Australia won't be on the current to do list. And then Puffing Billy would be just one train and very little to do. Might work as an extra to the Dandenong line actually called Belgrave line a branch off Lilydale. https://puffingbilly.com.au/visit-us/getting-here/ https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/route/timetable/2/belgrave/
I'm sure what they announce will get railfans into a frenzy ROFL Maybe WCML or ECLM or GEML...... German, Australian, Japan, etc etc... USA freight etc including passenger
dont count on it anytime soon buddy we have try for years now it would take a 3rd party to get into TSW to make it happen
Whatever is - or isn’t - coming soon as the big summer blockbuster release… keep in mind boys and girls that upgrades or new product releases on TSW often equals disappointment/frustration/headaches/broken dreams/broken promises/tears before bedtime Whatever is (or isn’t) heading our way, I will be keeping hold of my pennies until I have seen the reviews and feedback on here. Don’t get caught up in the hype and don’t be a beta tester, would be my advice
I presume he is using "beta tester" in the metaphorical sense to mean someone who buys the game on launch.
I don't think they'll announce it in a roadmap. I expect a dedicated article and possibily stream either shortly before or after the roadmap. They'll want to get as much attention for the new thing (be it TSW4 or a different summer release), and thus probably won't shove it in as part of a roadmap.
I would hope so. The next Roadmap is, what, three weeks away and apart from the JT route there is literally nothing known about coming releases, from DTG themselves. I’m sure there has never been a time when nothing has at least been teased or a preliminary announcement made. So come on DTG, something to whet our appetites at least, even if the meat and veg is still under wraps.
July 29th.... my guess.... they might hint something. Officially won't be announced until 10th-12th August, but I could be wrong. Just educated guesses. Whenever they decide to announce it though it won't change what they are working on. ;-)
The only consolation is, I now have so much content in TSW3, there’s enough to keep me going for months or even years and that’s without jumping ship to TSC, Run 8, Snowrunner, Fallout 4 or even Stray for a bit.
Fallout 4? I have put so, so many hours in that game and mod it to death. Haven't played it for a while, do you use the collections?
The last time I played I used a collection that had 400 mods then my favourites I put on over the top, lol
You and me both. Just hope the promised next-gen update actually materialises this year as announced. I want to get back into it but the 30fps cap on Playstation is atrocious.
The way things are going 30 fps will become the new normal for gen 9 going forward, as the latest games are starting to release for gen 9/pc only. Developers are finding the consoles are struggling to maintain a stable 60 fps only 3 years into their tenure. Examples are FF16, whose 60hz Frame Rate Mode runs at a meagre 1080p upscaled to 1440p, and soon Starfield, which will be capped at 30 hz but with a higher resolution.
Still nothing from DTG to even announce a special announcement or interesting news coming in the next roadmap. They are going to have to say something soon as I just leeched £25 out of my Steam funds to buy Stray (only a year late I know), which was being earmarked towards the JT route and the big summer whatever-it-is...
Yes, I'm having a hard time keeping my wallet zipped. So many temptations and nothing trainwise to buy. Couple of weeks 'til the next Roadmap. At this rate, there won't be much to talk about.
Agree. Alan Thompson has a couple sales going on, I thought by now I would’ve had NYT to fall back on but that is looking like a November time frame. Not sure how much more I can stay around waiting
WellI must admit Stray is quite cool, though was getting a bit fraught at having to retry the part of the second level where the weird one eye things jump on your back.
The DTG stuff is probably being trimmed, see Dresden Riesa for the reasons. Ever since that had to be cut back and then improved upon release information is super sparse. It could be the next roadmap is simply about the JT route and the DB electric so September will be the trumpet blowing time.
Fascinating. When DTG brings out a few DLCs, everyone screams "don't do that, fix the old stuff". When DTG has a bíg summer breaks, bringing out some great patches (see LFR, NID and SEHS), people want the next DLC to be announced.
LFR is still absolutely not anywhere near finished state, NID is developed and fixed by somebody who has nothing to do with DTG and we don't get anything new developed/announced.
