Today I'll be suggesting the Wherry Lines, which to me is a very interesting and nice scenic route. The Wherry Lines runs from Norwich to Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. This route terminates at 2 stations from Norwich (Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth) meaning the route has 3 terminating stations. It also connects Norfolk and Suffolk bringing the most beautiful views and one of the most leased used stations, Berney Arms. And as clearly stated in the title, Wherry Lines is operated by Greater Anglia. I would also like this to be set in the 2019 era and I'll explain why later but I think it'll be best for 2019. There are 14 stations across the Wherry Lines and are they are as follows; -Norwich -Brundall Gardens -Brundall -Lingwood -Acle -Buckenham -Cantley -Reedham -Berney Arms -Haddiscoe -Somerleyton -Oulton Broad North -Lowestoft -Great Yarmouth From Norwich - Great Yarmouth is 1tph From Norwich - Lowestoft is 1tph And trains that stop at Berney Arms (correct me if I'm wrong) only have 2tpd (2 trains per day). Berney Arms is only on the Norwich to Great Yarmouth route. Since this route has a 3 terminating station, the station called at between Great Yarmouth route and the Lowestoft route are obviously different. So to clarify the calling points they are: Norwich - Great Yarmouth Norwich, Brundall Gardens, Brundall, Lingwood, Acle and Great Yarmouth Norwich - Great Yarmouth (calling at Berney Arms) Norwich, Brundall Gardens, Brundall, Cantley, Reedham, Berney Arms and Great Yarmouth Norwich - Lowestoft Norwich, Brundall Gardens, Brundall, Buckenham, Cantley, Reedham, Haddiscoe, Somerleyton, Oulton Broad North and Lowestoft Depots: Crown Point TMD in Norwich (I love this depot) Rolling Stock: Class 153 Class 156 Class 170 Layers: East Midlands Trains Class 158 from the MML pack. DLC potential: Class 755 As mentioned at the start, I suggested this route to be set in 2019, that's because the class 755's got introduced onto the Wherry Lines in 2019 and the rolling stock I have listed above were still in service I believe. So I think it would be a cool idea if old meets new but also runs together. And I would suppose some people might want the 156's, 153's and the 170's but some would want the 755's so this could also be better for the target audience. (If anyone has opinions on the class 755 or any of the rollick stock I have listed please share them as I would love to see what people think.) That's my suggestion on the Wherry Line, would love to see this route in game I feel like it can bring a lot of opportunity. But please share any comments or what you think of this route in the comments if you wish.
I would much rather this backdated like the AP product from TSC with a 156, 37 and 153 being the main trains.
Frequently suggested and must come at some stage. For me it has to be BR Classic with various DMUs, through loco hauled workings to and from London plus Summer Saturday extravaganza of trains from all over the UK.
Also the landmark of the 200yr old reedham swing bridge. Use to work in the ship inn below it. Got my vote
I wouldn't mind that at all, would equally want that as what I've suggested. Just thought to add a modern train to see what people think and what views they have.
Yes this is the most modern I would like the route to be seen. And this would be perfection and what I though when I saw the suggestion. A brilliant suggestion though mate and would be a great way to get the old Eastern Region in game.
Great suggestion- The route has a lot of character unlike all these southern region modern 3rd rail suggestions() Would have to be with the Sprinters and DRS 37 short set for me and tbh the route would probably be in my top 3 to be represented in game
If set modern day, the inclusion of the Class 755 would be a good opportunity to build the similar Class 745 as an AI only model to populate Norwich and Crown Point depot. If licensing persists, then I would still love to see the Wherry lines albeit backdated to the 1980's with a Class 105 and layers for the Class 101, plus lots of loco haulage to the coast on Summer Saturday excursion trains!
This is an excellent idea speaking of a Developer to make it this should be either JT or ATS because this is a TSC route
Both are similar in length however are very different routes. As you can see from the map below you have the standard Norwich-Yarmouth/Lowestoft and back services as well as the diverted Yarmouth route via Berney Arms and large volume of ECS moves around crown point. It doesn’t have the ‘incomplete’ feel that west cornwall has and far more service variety with just as much, if not more character.
Could there be a freight expansion with the Lowestoft port? It gives a chance to improve modern UK freight which is only represented by the 66.
Next to no freight runs on the lines however a RHTT layer could be used as the RHTT is used quite extensively on the lines
Not going to lie I forgot to add the class 37 in the post. I had it on mind before writing the suggestion but I got to carried away and forgot.
I still like the idea of pootling across to Norwich or Lowestoft in a Cravens DMU. There would have to be an in game achievement for doing something at Berney Arms!
