Not sure if anyone else is having this issue, but when I go to the consists editor it loads then the game crashes
It has been like this for some time if you have a problem with one of the files it tries to load. When you install a new reskin and there is a problem with it in a scenario it just says "unable to load BSK Coach" and it does not appear in the scenario. When you use the Consist Editor if it finds vehicles with a problem it crashes. DTG have tested it on a clean - no third party DLC - and it works ok. If you install a new wagon/coach/loco or reskin create a scenario and place it on the track to make sure it works
When you open the consists editor it scans all of your rolling stock, if there is a corrupted file it will crash. There are several ways to find the corrupted file but if you have several thousand (I have over 5000) it may be impossible. I now use free roam for these short scenarios.
You can use Logmate located in your Railworks folder to try and locate the file or move half your Assets to a second drive and test to see if it loads. If it does, bring a few more over from your other drive and test until you get a crash. Process of elimination, and time consuming.
For a long time, it's been crashing as it reaches 88%. I've tried many different methods to fix it. I've tried clearing the cache, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and nothing seems to work! It's baffling!
Yes but if one of the repaints or freeware rolling stock you have installed has a fault then it will still crash. Remove all third party Assets to a separate drive and try the consist creator. If it works ok with Default assets you purchased thru Steam then its one of those others causing the problem. Have a look at the post above you giving suggestions. It's one of you add-ons causing the problem.
After I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, I never added any mods or reskins. I ran the Logmate and it seemed that the Alaska Raikroad files were corrupted. I tried uninstalling it and deleting everything from the Alaska Railroad, but that didn't work. This is kind of giving me a feeling that this core update made the crashing worse.
When you said you "uninstalled and reinstalled the game" how did you do that? Were the old files actually removed or did you just un-tick and re-tick in the Steam Client.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the whole game through Steam. But now I just started a very time-consuming experiment to see why the Consist Editor keeps crashing. I'm reinstalling all my routes, loco packs, and freight car packs a few at a time. So far, the Consist Editor isn't crashing at 88% like it was before. Still reinstalling everything a few at a time, starting with the American content only.
I noticed in your Logmate it showed Assets\vR_Addon4\vR_Alco_RS11\PreLoad\RS11_PRR_Solo.bin appears to contain invalid data Assets\VNHRR\HiLine\PreLoad\Covered Hopper Train 4.bin appears to contain invalid data Assets\ABStudios\Freight Car Pack\RailVehicles\Freight\TR 53 Spine Cars\TTAX 01 BNSF Tra\UnitA.bin appears to contain invalid data Third party assets were causing a problem.
