I agree, counting just the routes its above 40 by now ;).

For me i just do what i like to do. I have all dlcs, also the rolling stock has grown a lot. (On top we got more devs which have just began to develop). I have also the us routes, even if i mostly do runs on uk and german tracks.
For me a good improvement is the brake system on the german stock. You can set the g/p, also shut down the wagons.

I also find myself using the Quick Play lucky dip a lot more, though I wish there was a way to make it slightly more selective or excude the routes or traction you're not really interested in running.

That would be a good enough selling point for TSW4.

Quick Play would be better if you could select a route, which was the original intent, as well as being able to quickly make another selection. I would also see it as more useful if it only gave you routes that you haven't yet driven. As it stands right now, great idea, spotty implementation.

"Great idea, spotty implementation". I believe you just came up with a slogan summarizing TSW3. Genius!

Doesn't that suggest that DTG's business model is predicated on multiple releases each year? Therefore, it's unlikely that will change.
If anything, it gives people far more choice to buy only those routes (and locos) that an individual finds sufficiently interesting to open his/her wallet.

Yep I definitely agree with you, it’s gotten to the time where we should be getting long routes at least annually or biannually

Cleveland buffalo is a good shout. There's no indication of anything US. (Scotsman being UK and vectron being german)

The CB route has been in the database since December last year. I suspect it is either an unused or otherwise un-renamed depot associated with Peak Forest (Chinley - Buxton) and has nothing to do with new material. DLC99 etc is more interesting, and may be the 420 or perhaps unused too.

^ CB could just as easily be an abandoned project. There are still depots on Steam DB which have been empty for months and years, indicating that those plans had collapsed.

A new EMD mainline freight loco would be nice. We have the SD70Ace so far only. On the othe side we have 4 GE Mainline freight locos. The C40-8W, the AC4400CW, the ES44AC and the ES44C4. We definitely need a loco like the SD60M, SD70, SD70M or SD70MAC.

And btw I'm so happy that the Flying Scot will appear. So that we have our first Pacific loco in the game.

Erm no I'm saying that they said the route bugs would be ironed out in patches but DTG would not go back to amend the timetable as it would be too time consuming. Simples.

You have an odd interpretation of the phase "no plans" - the clue is in the first word.

"We definitely won't" and "no plans" are different things - the former suggests that they will never go back to it, while the latter suggest that there's no intention currently, but that might change in the future. Person before was correct in that

People need to stop reading words at face value and see them in the wider context of their meanings, no plans doesn't mean never in the history of this route existing in the game will it never be touched by the Devs ever again and worked on, it meant no plans at that moment in their working plans in place at that time, only bloody minded souls that can't except they have been defeated would keep dragging this stupid argument/debate going........

To say that DTG did a 180 on the NYT timetable is not really a criticism. On the contrary it just indicates that they are quite willing to accede to pressure from the player base from time to time. Other examples would be the SEHS journey and save game. It's a good thing. Only the apologists would see it otherwise.

"No plans" is not a code phrase for "oh yeah, we're doing it but we just want it to be secret", it very much means they have no current plans to develop whatever it is in question.

Why, exactly, is this even a discussion..?

    Whatever that means.

I always take what the CM's write on the forums at face value. I assume that that's what they want us to do.

    I'm not a mind reader.

Thats funny as I don't listen to the CM's as we have been told some great customer service lines over the years.

How about early September last year adter TSW3 was releases. The updates for TSW 2 are done and we will get them out to you, as soon as we can, we are talking weeks not months.

Both of those satements were untrue. They didn't have a build done, and the TSW2 people are still waiting almost 1 year later.

There is alot more as well over the years I can point ouy as well.

Definitly don't take them at face value.

No plans is quite clear. It means no plans. It does not mean never will have plans. The clue is in the first word.

Think it depends on whether or not DTG still want the GEN8 coin or not. I still play PS4 and don't see myself getting a PS5 for a number of years as I don't need/want one. If TS4 (or whatever) is released for PS4 i'll pick it up probably, if it isn't no biggy but i'm not going to be running to Currys to buy one just to play a train game. While I cannot claim to be every PS4 user I'd guess i'm not alone in this.

If it comes out on PS4 great, if not it really isn't a big deal.

Well hopefully this coming week will see some life from DTG on the matter, even if it’s just an announcement that there will be an announcement and when. Can’t see how that would hurt.

Who needs an announcement of an announcement? DTG doesn't have to confirm anything. We already know it's happening. The only thing I wanna know from DTG is why I should buy TSW 4. So until the big announcement I can live with the silence :D

Well it would be nice to hear something given the rampant speculation over the snippets of information that have been gleaned.

I am no stranger myself when it comes to criticism of TSW but the fact I’m here and play it most days means they must be doing something right. What’s the alternative? TSC where the route comes with six scenarios, if you’re lucky, which dock you 1000 points if you’re 30 seconds late. Run 8 with its 20 year old graphics, or flat looking MSTS routes in Open Rails? Trainz?

So the fact is, warts or not, many of us are eager for more and want to know what that more is going to be!

So here's what we know so far. Today Dove tail confirmed August 22nd would be an announcement
Smithfield depot looks to be the code name for TSW4
We have the pre order depots listed under Smithsfield101prepurchase,Smithsfield102prepurchase,Smithsfield103prepurchase,
with effective date of 8-22-23 which is the same date on the French article,
Depot Smithfield104Flying scotsman Centenary edition which is why the ECML DLC is most likely for UK route.
and finally Smithfield 109vectron which is most likely the German loco on the roadmap.

This. If only it would tell you what the RNG had selected, and give you the option to spin the wheel again if you don't like it.

It doesn't work like that. People need to realise that there's an awful lot of thought and planning that goes into a product launch.

That 20, or even 200 people on these forums know enough about the arrival of TSW4 and some of the DLC, does not change DTG's plans. There's a much larger audience to interact with and build interest to gain those sales.

Social media posts, PR and other advertising is planned to happen on certain dates. Announce too early and the interest wanes, too late and not enough people hear about the product launch, both adversely affect sales figures.

All the while, the development team are busy with finishing content and bug fixing.

If it was announced now, a serious issue could crop up and leave the team with no flexibility to push back the release date, if required. By waiting until 22nd August, they have 3 weeks of progress to see where they are with TSW4 and can make a much more informed decision on announcement and release dates.

So now that we have an idea that a core update of some form is coming, I know they have said no plans for the 700 on the BML. Could we get this now maybe not at release but later this year?

Do we really think it will be called Train Sim World 4? I could see them going with a new title to freshen up the franchise.

If we will start getting new TSW games yearly, it could be called "Train Sim World 2024" or "Train Sim World 24". It could also go back to just being "Train Sim World", if DTG wanted to signal the players that this would be the last time we had to pay for the same game.

Though sometimes it does have the ability to please. I span the wheel last night and got the Christmas steam special on WCR. Not something I would have gone out of my way to pick otherwise.

I have a question. Is there a difference between a season pass and a paid subscription?
