2 of these locos are based at the West Somerset Railway and are owned by the DEPG, but only one of these locos (D9526) is currently operational whilst D9518 is undergoing long term restoration.

    History of the Class 14

Built in 1964 and 1965, They are known as 'Teddy Bears' by enthusiasts, following a comment by Swindon Works' erecting shop foreman George Cole who quipped "We've built The Great Bear, now we're going to build a 'Teddy Bear'!". 56 of the class were built, with 5 of the class making moves out mainland Europe in the 1970s and 1980s after their BR and industrial service ended. (D9505 and D9534 to Belgium in 1975, with D9515, D9548 and D9549 moving to Spain in 1982). The fleet was originally allocated solely to the Western Region but over half of the class moved up to Hull Dairycoates after their previous work in places such as the Dean Forest and the Cardiff & Bristol area dried up due to the lines shutting. Then, in an abrupt change of tact from BR, the class were sold off to the National Coal Board for work at mines or scrapped, with BR having no working examples left by the early 1970s (I still believe that they would've been better for moving freight between yards on small trip workings than 08s were.)
Eventually, this coal work began to dry up in the 1980s and all of the NCB fleet was withdrawn. 19 of the Class 14s managed to make it to preservation, D9526 amongst this number after it finished working at APCM Westbury in April 1980.

They would be great for the route but in real life I can't stand the Teddy Bears, horrible machines personally.

Nice suggestion but limited scope for layering elsewhere other than another heritage line, if ever built. I suppose you could sub in for 08 or 09 on other routes.

Yes please. The almost forgotten diesel hydraulic class. DTG, or someone, should do a diesel hydraulic dlc pack for WSR with both these and the Class 35 Hymek as both reside at WSR with DEPG.
