Yes, a season pass gives you access to DLC you will own. A paid description means you unlock everything but once you stop paying you won't be able to use it anymore until you start paying again.

Rush Hour was comparable to a season pass

 

I idn't know but I bought the rush hour routes separately since I didn't know better. But If you buy a season pass you get all routes included in the season pass so what's would the difference be of a preorder?

 

I think there is just some confusion about the wordings. DTG also does not use the wording season pass if it was a bundle like Rush Hour where routes are released in a drip fashion. People were worried it was a subscription based model which Jan dismissed.

Yea I didn’t want to blast it all over but since I have spoiler tag on this thread I think is fine. That’s why I was asking . I wasn’t sure what it meant . And it was just loaded yesterday

 

I know they've struggled with awarding loyalty. Would you guys say a season pass is widely requested?

 

Well, it ends up cheaper for people that buy everything.
I just hope the actual TSW4 and it's initial routes aren't season pass, but that the season pass is extra.

 

It's not something I asked for but it's not something I'm against. You are never forced to buy the season pass. But a season pass needs to have routes to look forward to. If a season pass has a boring long US freight route I'l pass on it. Same goes for freight lovers, if they don't see any interesting freight possibilities they will skip on it. So at the moment a season pass looks promising.

 

Tha'ts why I was asking whats the difference between pre-order and season pass then? with rush hour there was a season pass but I don't know how it went since i purchased the routes individually

 

So a season pass is basically pre ordering content for the "season" which tends to be a year. You buy once, and get several pieces of content released to you over the year.

Normally at a discount on if you bought them separately, or including something extra.

 

I wouldn't say widely requested, no.
If we're indeed getting a new business model with season passes, it's probably going to depend on the quality and type of content. Pre-purchase sales could lead to inferior quality of the releases since it's usually used to purchase addons that are months away from release.

I.e.:
Step 1: Everybody buys their passes in September
Step 2: Route 1 releases in October
Step 3: Route 2 releases in November...but people already bought their passes, phone it in. No bug fixes required.

This is my biggest worry.

 

The sales were probably very good but it wasn't the best release. We are still waiting for the promises of that season pass to be fulfilled: BML still not being a Rush Hour route

I guess is a way to get funding before the route actually releases. As long as I know the route as you mentioned If is freight route I'll pass. Nothing against freight is just something don't want to pay for something I won't be playing. But yea might be an issue with something paid coming out with lots of bugs

 

I personally hate season passes.

You pay up front with no knowledge of how good the content is going to be and then you have no option to refund, so you’re stuck with it.

I would have been very disappointed if I’d paid in advance for this past years releases however good the discount would have been.

In my opinion it’s fine when the pass is cheap and it’s for something like additional cars in Forza (which had a lot of bugs, but the cars are normally pretty good). Not so good for TSW, which doesn’t have a great reputation for releasing with only minor bugs.

 

I wonder how many routes and /or loco DLC would it be included? And would it be for the rest of the year or include next year also?

 

That's why I hope it's just additional content like, loco's, liveries, journeys. A bundle of routes is indeed buying into be expected bugs that take a very long time to be fixed.

 

A season pass is a fixed amount whereas a paid subscription is a fixed amount per month until you cancel it

 

It's DTG so it's only for a few months, probably even weeks before they release new content that comes not with this season pass.

It doen't have a release date but they were changed to yesturday and today's date. Some of these routes are part of tsw3 like the JT route

 

They are trying to confuse us

 

All those DLCs with the season pass tag are TSW3

 

So here's my speculation, those route that were going to come out for TSW3 might be part of a rush hour package

not sure by putting season pass is a good idea if is to confuse also it was just updated yesturday and today

 

Well TSW4 or whatever is called won't be official until 9/26. so From 8/22 is pre order. So from 8/22 to 9/26 maybe that's where they might have other options for new players before 9/26

 

But why would the class 700, 465 and the New Journeys be part of an upcoming season pass, if they have already been released separately? The 465 doesn't even exist anymore as an addon, as it's included in SEHS.

 

Don't think a season pass is on the table anymore. Back to "TSW4 is coming but we don't know a thing yet"

thats stuff wasn't there two days ago. We get the announcent for 8/22 and this stuff gets added. I think the 465 is required for the layer for BML. but anyways I guess I'm just throwing stuff out but can't tell if any will stick

You’re confused because speculation is rampant. I can understand the excitement. I’ll wager we will all be less confused when we know all of the facts as opposed to knowing something is surely being announced on the dtg direct and supposing what it is.

I can see they putting a bogus name on files to confuse the community. I don’t see they putting stuff like “games pass” to confuse us.

It was, and it also is a bit of a running joke in the community now as well.

 

As long as DTG Matt doesnt disappear off to a far away island and the only way to find him is to put down enough route maps to reawaken the train with the missing map piece hopefully we're good
