I was sat this evening, post gym, belly full of food in a heat filled delusion (put heating on by mistake). As I unwittingly threw money away my thoughts meandered to SEHS and the extension it received, that too was pretty hot with the new stock and and track it introduced. I'd therefore like to pose a question. What route should be extended in your opinion? How long and from where and to? What would this extension bring in terms of either new stock or services? Please help me to stay focused as I sweat my stupidity off on Birmingham line
Before I start... this idea probably wouldn't come to fruition but if it were, this is what it would be: Route: Cathcart Circle Extension Plan: To Motherwell and Larkhall via the West Coast Mainline and the Hamilton Circle Added Route Mileage: Newton to Motherwell (HC): Around 9 miles Hamilton Central to Larkhall: Around 4 miles Glasgow Central to Motherwell (WCML): Around 14 miles New Stock Introduced: Class 318 or Class 320 ScR for Hamilton Circle + Larkhall services Class 390 VT (licensing permitting) for WCML services Class 350 FTPE (licensing permitting) for WCML services That's one of the extensions I would like made in the game, but like I said at the start, take this with a pinch of salt at the chances of this happening
All of then, they’re pathetically short! Link Paddington to Bristol WCML Preston to London Euston The WHOLE Bakerloo line More AI traffic, full sidings, it’s not nearly immersive enough.
Peak Forest - extended to Manchester and Derby. New stock should include Class 45 and Class 104, then the king of further DLC would surely be the Blue Pullman. What an absolutely sensational route that would be.
People, DTG are not going to do more than one new loco/MU for a route. And a mainline without all the relevant types would be a wasteland.
I’d like to see NYT extended as follows 1- From Trenton to morrisville yard 2- From Rahway down the coast line to South Amboy (about 5 miles and 4 stops) 3- From Newark to Roselle Park on the raritan valley line. About 5 miles and two stops. 4- From the M&E junction to Newark Broad St (about 2 miles) assuming the new and improved timetable this would change services as follows: 1- north jersey coast line trains continue from Rahway to south amboy both local and express. 2- M&e trains would terminate in broad st and not secaucus you’d have the following new services 1- depot moves between Trenton and morrisville 2- yard moves between south amboy and the yard for trains originating / terminating in south amboy. Long branch and bay head trains continue on. 3- new rvl services to / from roselle park. This would have to include either the alp45 or something else as it requires diesel.
Clinchfield Railroad. The mainline gets extended to the connection to the Norfolk and Western Railroad in St Paul. Only 5 miles but adds a bit of more mainline action. The route itself gets a scenery upgrade and improvements over its original version. New loco to get added is the CRR's GP7's they would add new services for yard and local work. New period correct freight cars would get added to help improve the manifest trains already in game. The F7 and SD40 get alternate paint schemes. Boxcar gets multiple new paint schemes. A future loco DLC with the SD45-2 or U36C would add more to the manifest freights. At least this is what I'd ideally like to see.....
This will be subjective to what you're playing , what you have bought and layers it activates. Fair comment though as we don't see what you do
We have the whole bakerloo line? I guess you mean the line up to Watford which is LO which isn’t in tsw yet
This thread should we retitled what route should DTG rebuild next to be more accurate to the actual process. My pick for a complete rebuild would be ECW extending it to Ore and Hastings potentially even adding the marshlink line if they felt a little spicy. Potentially instead extending it to Haywards Heath for some more services and scenartios instead of marshlink - The route is due for a rebuild. Either ECW or GWE up to oxford electrified would be my two picks for a complete rebuild.
You say that but if you look at german content they do to some extent often either reuse or make loads of new locos - rarely an inbetween honestly. And they do sometimes bring out the big guns and make massive routes with loads of locos even now - They've wound down a bit but there CERTAINLY not opposed to it.
UK Classic - TVL to Boulby, Whitby and Bishop Auckland. UK Steam - PFR to Derby and Manchester. UK Modern - I'm with the earlier vote for Cathcart but I'd like to see Largs, Wemyss Bay and Gourock. Germany - Knit together the Ruhr with Dusseldorf and M/Gladbach. Also West Rhine through to Koln. USA - Following discussions elsewhere both Harlem and LIRR need to get much bigger.
1. Cathcart Circle. 2. From newton round to cumbernauld, and also the wcml section between glasgow central and motherwell, as well as the branch line to paisley canal. 3. This would bring much more variety in terms of services, and stock, and my proposed added units would be the 380, 320 and 318.
If ONLY extend then Munich - Augsburg(wherever they want, it's too short). If remake and extend then LIRR to Ronkonkoma or/and Peninsula Corridor to Gilroy.
UK: Steam/early diesel era would be this: UK: Classic diesel era: NTP extension of west to Liverpool and East to York adding a combine 55ish miles (30ish west, 25ish East) and include the Class 25 and/or a new 1st gen DMU. UK: Modern MML Extension to Sheffield and Matlock adding just over 40 miles, with a class 222, class 156 and very sneakily the angel set HSTs.
Tamien would be a better ending point. Services going all the way to gilroy are extremely few. Maybe some freight but it wouldn't be busy so not really worth to add
HRR needs an extension for the whole Rhein Ruhr network. The original HRR is laughably short. MSB extended to Frankfurt? MML extension to Bedford or St Pancras and Sheffield.
For instance: Merge RRO and RSN RSN towards Siegen Extension of some S-Bahn lines on Rapid Transit HMA: Extension of the "S-Bahn-Stammstrecke" in Munich etc.
Germany Hauptstrecke Rhein Ruhr merge with RRO RSN via Witten you gain access to the big yard which is Hagen Vorhalle Hauptstrecke Rhein Ruhr International extension to the Netherlands remember the S3 terminates inside Oberhausen Hbf. Fun run of HRR with The Netherlands extension run a Faals Falrrs Iron Ore train at 80 kmh 50 mph provided you are running Rotterdam Finnentrop Iron Works train you are simply going to be running reds under PZB mode U 55 kmh 35 mph on Yellow signal. How about from Bremen Oldenburg extended to the Netherlands 129km Oldenburg Leer(Ostf) Bad Nieuwschans Groningen. Basically you are running it from a University Town to a Port City. Documentation by Deutsche Bahn Verkehrsverbund Bremen Niedersachsen has it as the Wunderline Main Spessart Bahn merge with KWG via the Nantenbacherkurve as mentioned by Lukas United States Long Island Railroad Port Washington Grand Central and Babylon extensions Harlem Line to Brewster North the old name for Southeast station when completed in 1983 for the electrification project North White Plains Brewster NEC Trenton to NYC extended to Providence, RI via New Haven becoming NEC Trenton Boston.
Dresden-Riesa: Extend the S2 line to Dresden Flughafen. Adds 11 kilometers and 4 stations to the route. It wouldn't require any new rolling stock to add, and no new timetable services either. Just extends the S2 services to last longer than 10 minutes and have a proper terminus. Sherman Hill: The Harriman Cutoff (aka Track 3). Slightly more mileage than whatever the mainline's distance is from Cheyenne to Hermosa. Provides a much less steep route up Sherman Hill, making heavy freight trains more bearable. While it wouldn't need any new rolling stock, Sherman Hill would greatly benefit from having another locomotive outside the SD70ACe. Perhaps an SD70M...
Cross City line to Bristol Temple Meads and Worcester Foregate Street. This would add the Class 170,172,220 and 165 to the route, with a HST and 158 being DLC
Long Island Railroad deserves an extension to Long Beach... maybe throw a Kawasaki M9 as well... seems plausible !
All roads lead to Antwerp (this is only a saying in Antwerp) so let's just extend every route to Antwerp Seriously, I wouldn't mind one of the US passengers being extended. Preferably the ones from NY but I know already they would not look anywhere I want them to look scenery wise. UK has got some memorable routes now with BML and SEHS, Germany has a lot of good routes. USA is still lacking in memorable passenger routes.
I stand by a wish I have mentioned before: I would like to see KWG be connected to an overhauled MSB (Main Spessart Bahn). In order to achieve this DTG would need to extend the existing KWG and MSN routes as follows: - Extension from Würzburg to Gemünden, using the regional route, which runs parallel to the existing KWG. As far as I understand the track work is already existing in KWG. - Gemünden would need to be extended to the north a couple of kilometers to connect it to Burgsinn. This could be used at night for fright trains - Extend the Nantenbacher Curve to allow fast (and at night fright) trains to leave / enter the fast line from Aschaffenburg. - Overhaul MSB to TSW3 standard and bring it in line with the current layout (tunnel instead of ramp). This would allow for endless possibilities in a huge timetable: Real high speed, commuter, fright in all directions. In Scenarios you could run ICEs between Würzburg and Burgsinn using the slow line, simulating diversion traffic. Also, the ICE-T (if ever build) would be able to use its GNT tech, as the route to Aschaffenburg is equipped accordingly.
I don't really see the point of adding just the Flughafen branch without a new train. It would need a Desiro Classic included at least, otherwise you'd be missing the majority of the trains between Dresden Hbf and Klotzsche. Still, I think an extension to Pirna, Schöna or even Děčín, and adding the Coswig to Dresden via Cossebaude and Dresden-Friedrichstadt route, would add more to the game. It would also extend the S2 (and S1!) services as well as the RB31, the Elbe Valley line should be a lot of fun to drive, and with the infrastructure included you could make easily the best and most varied freight timetable on any route in the game. Riesa, Röderau, Nünchritz, Coswig, Dresden-Friedrichstadt, Dresden-Altstadt, Pirna, Bad Schandau, Bad Schandau Ost, Děčín hl. n. and Děčín východ can all serve as origin, intermediate or destination stations. You could also offer meaningfully different gameplay for the different kinds of freight locos for the first time, as a train hauled east by a 155, 143 or any other non-multi-system loco would need a loco change somewhere along the way while a Vectron or Traxx might run non-stop from Děčín to Riesa. (Worth noting you'd still get all of that even if you don't include the Czech section at all, of course.)
I would like to see the line from Dartford on SEHS extended to London Victoria as that station as already been modelled and maybe to London Charing Cross, also Faverhsam to Ashford, Margate to complete the route, to me if feels half finished as it stands.
I'd extend it to Alloa and Dunblane but end the route there, Highland Mainline would be a great route for Perth as a starting point
I doubt DTG would extend a Rivet route but would be good to see a Dunblane / Alloa extension with the Inter7City HST sets between Edinburgh and Stirling to fill the timetable out a bit.
Extend London Commuter massively. In fact, I even laid out a 3-part plan in a thread: My Phased Bml Expansion Plan/suggestion Massively ambitious, will never happen; I still want it.
Highland MainLine would be at its best in a different era... i.e. When 15 coach overnight trains slogged across the route with a pair of Type 2's (or a Class 47) on the front end. When daytime internal ScR services quite often produced a Class 40. Freight was numerous and could turn up hauled by 20's, 24's, 25's, 26's, 27's, 37's or a 40!
Personally I would say my top four would be: 1) TVL extended to Bishop Auckland 2) ECW extended to Ore/Hastings 3) Glasgow to Edinburgh extended to Dunblane 4) DRA extended to Leipzig
For me, if I could convince DTG to revisit just one route and re-release it would be Rapid Transit, I'd include the full S1 and S2 line to Lutherstadt Wittenberg Hbf as per the below, with a full Joe timetable this could really live up to its name finally.
Personally I prefer sprinter as they are my local anyway but i won't deny I'd buy any west highland route.
That's two different routes mate, the West Highland Line would be 156 and Black 5 territory but the Highland Mainline up to Inverness needs vintage diesel traction
London Commuter/BML: The most obvious is to include the extra 9 miles of the Wivelsfield branch down to Lewes. Elsewhere, if the 700 was ever included in the timetable, I'd like to also see an extension from Three Bridges to Horsham - around 8 miles - and while technically this is part of the Arun Valley Line, Horsham is a terminus for Thameslink Peterborough services etc. Meanwhile, there's also the plethora of branch lines to Caterham and Tattenham Corner, or alternately either the Sutton Loop which would be good as would be plenty of Thameslink services too. Finally, there's also an extension to London Bridge which would be fantastic.
You might even go further than that I suggest combined Long Beach and Babylon extensions. Fun part about the Babylon Branch is that there are trains that simply run to Wantagh Seaford Massapequa Park end or start there
I agree with you on that one how about S5 to Zwickau via Werdau and then have Tharandter Rampe extended to meet at Zwickau that way part of the Saxon triangle is completed the missing link will be Leipzig Riesa Bahnhof. Remember these routes were electrified from 1960-1990 by the East German Railways Deutsche Reichsbahn.
Ahem. 158 is a sprinter if I'm not mistaken. What I mean is modern day would be preferable for highland mainline but yes. Whl is a separate route and I'd also love that modern day
Yes, a 158 is an Express Sprinter but you already have one in MML and who's stopping you from using an SR livery on HML? (if the route is made backdated)
