I usually have a cup of tea or if its early afternoon a can of Pepsi occasionally the odd (alchol free) kopperburg - I just dont like alchol not going to lie.

I rarely have snacks unless im dying for one in which ill usually have a peperami or the odd homemade cookie.

Yes you can't complain about that... unless you have a leak!

Should lay next to the tablet, you may receive, or make work related calls.

Don’t listen to stuff whilst driving trains, but it’s nice to have a bottle of single malt handy for those US freight runs as they can be somewhat dull! I also have second monitor so I can surf the interweb at the same time. However… I do like to listen to classic rock whilst cruising the highways in American Truck Simulator!

I usually have brown noise on in background.

I sometimes do similar, but for express high speed service’s, I find freight (mostly just American) needing a lot of attention for speed restrictions and complex braking, which I lose when having the odd couple.

For me it's in-game sound, plus J-pop/rock (or K-pop) quietly in the background, and Railroad Radio dot net (if I'm driving in North America) for the real thing.

    Kind regards,
    Dave

Where I drive, too, the trains are all fitted with AM/FM radios and CD players for drivers to use. I'm almost always listening to something (often podcasts) when driving in real life, but only rarely if I'm playing TSW, partly because in my job I've driven the routes a thousand times and its nice to have something on to help keep the mind engaged. If I'm on unfamiliar sections I'll turn it off. Don't think I'd ever get to the point where I've driven any TSW route that many times, so its generally still a novelty so don't need other distractions :)

I always have some Sitcom running on my phone next to it, through Prime or Disney+

Don't get me wrong, I still play with full attention and safety systems on. But it's a game to me. And it's meant to relax me and give joy, not another unpaid job after 9 hours of my actual job.

And relaxing it does, sometimes I'm talking to some friends over Discord too instead. As a game for relaxation, there is nothing better in my library than TSW.

This is really surprising for me because, as I said, I wouldn't even think about music whilst driving and in other countries you are being provided with radios to listen to music on!

it deoends on what Im running tbh, if Ive a long run on Sherman Hill, Cajon Pass or Sand Patch grade then I will often boot up Spotify and listen to some classic or electro rock or if theres a roadmap live stream I'll have that on my 3rd screen instead. Passenger services I will rarely if ever listen to music and definitely no Youtube.

On the other hand, a second person in the cab won't happen here unless they have a *very* good reason for it, in the US, that's standard for most freight trains, that's what I've heard anyway.

Not sure how things are is the US as my railway knowledge is very much limited to the British network and even then there are many unknowns! A second person in the cab is not a rarity, though obviously harry from coach C seat 26 couldn't just come and knock on the door and have a ride as you do need a pass. I find different TOCs are more or less likely to give these passes out as I know that for example Don Coffey gets his footage for his drivers eye view videos and is allowed to do so by those TOCs whereas my TOC and others would be very unlikely to do the same.

No music for me, concentrating too much. Although, not too much that I can’t manage a nice cup of tea :)

If it's a route I've already played before, yes. Sometimes I'll do a timetable service in LIRR, NYT, or Harlem and listen to an album from beginning to end. If it's a route that is entirely new to me, then no.

Actually I tend to listen to live stream BBC 5 when playing British routes. And American ones either a podcast or music (70s if it’s Clinchfield).
