So, instead of TSW 4 I think DTG will release TSW UK later this month, whereby all current UK routes will transfer onto this new game. All future DLC will be aimed at joining current UK routes until such time that we have a linked up UK map.
    Wait for it;
Following on from the success of this new venture, next year will see the release of TSW Europe whereby all European routes will transfer and again, all new DLC will see the current routes linked up together.
Ah, I hear you say “but what about the USA” ?
Can I interest anybody in TSW Stateside ?
Anyway, the point being if DTG follow this course of action, they will never have to bring out another TSW core game every year or two. We’d simply get new DLC on a regular basis until all routes are covered.
    Just an idea, that’s all ! :)

edit: for the sake of clarity and to avoid misunderstanding……this is a light hearted post.:)

apart from it runs into the problem of interest will slowly drop overtime as with TSW1 & 2 dlc purchases, until the next release comes out.

it’s just made one game into 3 or more ultra similar games, when the same content could be placed on the 1… that’s now at least 3 games to bug fix and send out updates for, then dedicate development for further content on each, all it seems to do is make everything general for each game need to be done 3 times or more instead of once.

If DTG placed all focus on linking up the U.K. map by continuous same size releases as current, I think we would still be waiting over 2 decades, so don’t mistake that it would be anywhere near instantly done.

this a bad strategy to try and get more U.K. routes out of them.

I think that needs a referendum. But I would ignore the result of that referendum. It's not the first time we see the UK want to spilt up from something beneficial ;)

The petulant, sometimes arrogant jingoism of some UK players is very annoying.

TSW is played all over the world. The fact that DTG is headquartered in the UK ( or is it France now? ) is irrelevant.

This ‘idea’ is fuelled purely by wishful thinking. They would never do something like this.

Lol oh get over yourselves, it’s just a light hearted idea to draw attention away from the current threads/ polls about “is it TSW4, when’s it coming, etc”.
It never in a million years was a structured, thought out suggestion for the future of the TSW franchise. How clever of you all NOT to spot that.
It’s a GAME, you’re allowed to have some fun…..or do you all think this is real? Lol :):):):):)

I think to avoid the whole UK, EU, US argument that TSW4 should only include routes from the Eastern Region of BR.
Now is that an idea or what! ;);):D:D

I will sent a formal letter to DTG towers with an attached map of the Eastern Region, and a Victoria sponge. From then it should appear on the Xbox/Steam/PS store within a few days! :D

Yes, that is the only way anything gets decided on. Many years back now we had our kitchen redone for 3 Victoria sponges and two pints at the pub! Those were the days... :D

Yes shop brought cakes are forbidden in our house! He couldn't get them until he was done either so we knew he'd do a good job of it. We all know how high builders standards are!

As a UK based player who's never been on a train abroad except for within cities, I hardly ever play UK content and absolutely love the German, French and Swiss routes we have.

If I do play UK stuff it's OK, but the stuff from abroad feels different and unfamiliar, and I like that. I recently completed mastery on all the routes I have, which is all of them in an effort to get me to play routes I haven't touched in years. Honestly doing Tees Valley was a chore and I struggled to stay awake whereas RT - a route of a similar age - kept my interest more.

So no, no need to split the game into different countries, not that that was ever going to happen anyway.

Many devs and publishers, including DTG, have emphasised how time consuming it is supporting multiple platforms. One of their constant, overall aims should be to decrease their workload and something like this would instead significantly increase it, which is why I think it's very unlikely.

I think it’s 100% a NO GO idea for DTG. As I said earlier, it was a light hearted thread that was meant to raise a few funny and witty responses from the Forum community. Alas, it appears my sense of humour has fallen on “ deaf ears”. But hey ho, you win some you lose some. :(:):):)

I'm not an expert on trains. I like the different units and locos and enjoy learning to drive them, but it's the scenery which really makes the experience for me. I may be in the minority (of forum users) but I tend to drive in the helicopter view although I'm doing more in cab now I'm increasingly using safety systems.
The scenery on Tees Valley just doesn't captivate me. It's dated. Maybe if it was given a facelift my opinion would change, however now I've completed the scenarios and mastery I probably won't play it. I see all the time how it ranks as many players favourite route, it just doesn't grab me.
I love NTP, it took me a while but I did get into it after a few goes.
The two Dresden routes are my absolute favourites.

Fair enough, that makes sense, NTP is an excellent route from both a scenery and Loco perspective.

Can’t argue with that, although I personally have Tees Valley ahead of NTP by a fraction. :)

I probably would be the same but the the Peaks are my all time favourites and had a few cab rides along that line in the 70s and early 80s. Though Tees valley is another I have frequented a lot.

A lot is an understatement! We haven't had any original Eastern Region routes or routes from the 70s. Literally the best combination!

TSW UK & TSW Germany should each be a single DLCs not a full game, However Id accept TSW USA being 4 DLC as long as they could connect up with each other.

I mean if I started downloading the 6 DLC now I might have it downloaded shortly after the robots take over the world.

Any one got a spare SSD or 60 they could donate to me?

Lol that’s a fab idea, although it would probably mean the end of Gen 8 consoles. Although DTG are rumoured to be working on a patch that will see Gen 8 with a limited service of about…..Nil trains, no track but marvellous night lighting that comes in two shades, black or blacker! :)

While I would love to see something like Severn Valley or East Lancs in TSW, after a drive on WSR last night, I was thoroughly cheesed off with the 25 MPH speed limit, lower in places to. From Blue Anchor into Minehead, gave the Class 33 some beans and hit 50 MPH.

Nonsense, with some black magic hokey pokey DTG should easily be able to make such DLC run perfectly acceptable on gen 8. I'd go as far to say they should be capable of shoehorning them on to a Nintendo Switch but we'd need to accept that anything over 30fps might be unachievable on the switch.

You’re right, I forgot about DTG’s black magic hokey pokey department. They were very helpful and fixed the issue I was having running Tees Valley on my Apple Watch, although to be fair it is a series 8.

Witty remarks to the scenario of TSW U.K./eu/USA. READ the post and don’t PRESUME I never mentioned telling jokes. Sarcasm, well now that’s a different thing all together….don’t get me started on that :)

well given as we had a seemingly serious post warning us that DTG where about to charge for each weather pattern in the game, nothing can be assumed to be satire any more.

You know what, I've never been to the UK and have an obvious bias in favor of American routes, since they're more familiar. But you know what? With the exception of Boston Sprinter and Peninsula Corridor, I primarily play British routes! London Commuter is what got me hooked. (I don't need to explain why it's one of my favorites and, arguably, one of the best routes in the game.) From there, I got ECW and GWE. SEHS is fun too, but unfortunately I can't get the Javelin brakes to work well with the raildriver.

Anyhow, I've learned a lot about British geography from this game. One of the reasons is that Network Rail makes all the "route learning" stuff - sectional appendices, raildar, etc. - available to proles like me. I can't find a decent track diagram or timetable of Peninsula or the NEC to save my life. And personally, I'd rather visit London than New York, although I love the South and want to see a Brightline route. (Or at least a TriRail route - come on, you have it for TSC!)

My reading of Conan Doyle and Dickens is greatly enhanced from playing this game. Now when I read Sherlock Holmes, I can better visualize the places he speaks of. Likewise, when I read Great Expectations, I'm somewhat more familiar with Kent than I would have been without this game (when I hadn't even heard of it.) Do I even need to mention how cool it is to show a child who's familiar with the Paddington Bear movies a Paddington Station recreation on GWE? (Thank goodness for the FGW mod so that I could make it era-appropriate for the movie!)

So the reason for my spiel is this: I wouldn't be against a complete UK network despite having never been there. A non-national can love national content. (However, I'm not particularly interested in vintage UK content. I'd love some streamliner-era American content though.) And it seems to me that it'd be more likely (which is to say, not very) than covering the whole of the USA.

Despite the difference in size, there's zero chance of TSW covering either the entire UK or even the entire east coast of the US. There's far too much to model for either. Anyone who dreams of total coverage is doing just that - dreaming.

Well TSW does show a rather halycon view of the UK. You don’t see the run down town centres with the boarded up shops, where the high point seem to be vape shops, the sell us your gold for £1 a kilo or the JD Wetherspoons budget pub premises. Or the unpoliced roads with uninsured boy racers flipping their cars over, as we were nearly a victim of on Friday.

Rant aside though, DTG have managed to capture the natural look of the UK quite well, Peak Forest even East Coastway if you insert the Class 700 for a decent view out the front. Our old classic diesels ooze character and all sound slightly different.

    But I thought USA was the land of dreams;
The American Dream is the national ethos of the United States, a set of ideals including representative democracy, rights, liberty, and equality, ...
