Awesome, can't wait for it, because the route is really quite dead at the moment. One of the things I love about Boston Sprinter is how busy South Boston Station is, it's nice always having multiple trains moving when you pull in/out of the station.

Right, people don’t know how to properly operate trains, then get mad and call them broken etc..

I never got mad or called them broken. I know how to drive the acs64. I played the entire acs64 timetable in boston sprinter with all safety and signaling systems on. In my experience, the trenton acs64 did not acknowledge in suppression braking and resulted in a emergency application even though I've pressed the button many times. There's even videos showing that as well which is why I haven't touched the dlc since launch. The Boston acs64 meanwhile works completely fine.

Do AI trains still run with the pantographs down? And there's no lighting in the cars. I didn't find a fix for this in the patch notes.

wow! Didn’t realize you were here. Your videos are legend! For years since I was a child, I’ll occasionally revisit your July 2001 videos there at Harrison. (Love all the Clickety-Clack). It’s just a shame post 9/11, Photography isn’t allowed on PATH property.

A massive timetable update like the one they are currently doing takes a long time to develop and test.

You will have to buy TSW4 for any patches after September no doubt ;)

OOOOF... that's right... what if the timetable update for NEC is locked behind the TSW4 paywall and will not be released for TSW3? (like TSW2 fixes) Yikes... didn't even think of that.

Oh this would be the same as the bakerloo and Hamburg timetable. I speculate is just sitting there waiting for TSW4

If it's gonna be a timetable worth of the name NY I want it tested. I don't want to be the beta tester for such a timetable. I still refuse to play the Harlem line because of my first impressions of it. (Crashing into another train)

The new timetable for NYT will almost certainly be locked behind a TSW4 paywall. The apparent reason we don't already have it is for the coming dispatcher improvements. Said improvements presumably being a part of TSW4. Even if DTG promises these improvements for TSW3, if they are anything like the TSW2 fixes that are still on the roadmap, then good luck.

But maybe TSW4 will be a free upgrade? So there is always hope. If not then I'm sure NYT and "Antelope Valley" will be a fine pairing!

In my opinion, Harlem line is probably the best US passenger route in the game. It has a complete timetable . Is only missing the M8 new haven line trains. I have completed all M3A services and I'm about halfway through the M7A. Yea agree it was a rough start but that's was then.

And that's a compromised I'm willing to take. I would have rather had the Pacific Surfliner route which has been one of the most requested US route. They probrably had alot on their plate already and couldn't deliver that in time so they chose the Antelope instead. Actually I have been playing the Pacific Surfliner all weekend and some much that could had been. But let's see what happens tomorrow 20230821080828_1.jpg 20230821085642_1.jpg 20230821090808_1.jpg 20230821090617_1.jpg 20230821090052_1.jpg

No doubt you would have rather had Pacific Surfliner. And also not surprising that you are willing to pay more if that's what it takes to make NYT work; since you already own the base route, it's now something of a sunken cost. For those that still don't own NYT, the considerations might be different, which is why it might have been expected that DTG perhaps would have picked a widely-anticipated US base route for TSW4, to make the added cost something more agreeable.

Then again, I am still not buying into the hype that the scant evidence we have means Antelope Valley is coming. So, things can still change considerably... or not!

You won't crash into another train if you properly follow ATC.

ATC limits you to 20 mph, and you must drive on sight. It happens irl.

Yeah Harlem (from my experience) never had issues crashing trains if you had safety systems on… with the safety system on, ATC drops you to 20mph when there’s another train in your block so you are slow enough to stop right behind it if you need to (as it is in real life).

With safety systems off, you barrel down the track with no idea there is a stopped train in your block and clobber the back of it.

I agree. Just wish AI trains would use ATC instead of running hot on your tail. Not fair when you have a “R” and have to go 15mph while the train behind is going slightly faster.
Btw on Metro North, restricting is 15 MPH, and 20mph on Amtrak NEC.

Ai trains have extremely basic physics and don't use safety systems to save on memory usage. Having every ai train do that in tsw requires simugraph to run with each train which is very resource intensive. Which is why you only get it if you are driving/operating the train.

I’m aware. It’s just an extremely noticeable on the Harlem line since most blocks don’t have wayside signals (just track transponders), making it easy for a train to stop a few feet behind you instead of at the previous block.
Not a big deal. It’s a step up from TSC New Haven line. AI’s would stop at transponders haha which is unusual.

Think it's just about time to put a lock on this thread. DTG have heard us and made sure that from now on, ALL their content will be just as severely flawed as the US content. Victory!

No mention of TSW2, TSW3, "dispatcher improvements," or NYT at all.

Yes that is true. It was for the Acela DLC, wasn't it? But I think what we were looking for is more information on the timetable fixes for NYT, not if it will eventually be upgraded to TSW4 standards.

Also the 420 wasn’t on the roadmap
Very concerning that it wasn’t mentioned especially that would be the only reason to get me to buy TSW4. If I knew is was launching with TSW4 would force me to buy. For them not to mention it has to be a reason.

So it looks like we have to wait for about 3 weeks after release to get the updates on TSW3 for NYT timetable

I really liked the stream and announcements.
Metrolink seem keen it would appear, so maybe we can hope for more LA routes using them.
The ECML with the 801 and Flying Scotsman is exactly what I wanted as well.

The feature improvements look great as well.

But agree most likely will need to have TSW4 to get the NYT timetable. They did it last year with Bakerloo and Hamburg Dejavu again.

Once again have to give credit where it is due, not having to buy TSW4 for the NYT timetable improvements is great news! I am still looking forward to buying NYT when this happens, and I appreciate that I don't need the newest iteration in order to do it. So, thanks for that!
