I'm hoping that IF Tuesday's announcement is indeed TSW4 like all the speculation suggests that they do something with the game to make it interesting again! I still have both TSW 2020 & TSW 2 installed and I honestly prefer to play them than I do TSW 3! I load up 3 and look at the routes and none of them make me want to play them but I can load up 2020 or 2 and happily drive those routes despite them not interesting me in 3. I can't really put my finger on why I prefer the older games to 3 but I get why people have refused to get 3 especially looking at all the bugs that are in the game from launch with no clue when they'll be fixed (but if 4 is coming then we know the bugs in 3 will transfer over to it and 3 will be left the broken buggy mess it is now)!
Well hopefully following tomorrows announcement, the "what if/is it" threads can get locked so the discussion about "what it is" doesn't end up being scattered in the existing threads. DTG Jamie or Jan (can't tag him) to consider, keep things tidy.
I also prefer to play the TSW2 Routes on TSW2; because it cooks my GPU less (is less demanding under the same settings as TSW3), it's more stable as there are not updates to it anymore with their unpredictable side effects, RailDriver works better (more precision), bugs I know are there and have gotten used to them instead of them being a surprise, I can see medals progress at the end of every run and Mastery rewards appear in game, it reminds me of the time when the streams were Matt, Sam, Natalie, Adam, JD and Jamie and there were 4-up challenges and lots of positivity, not stifling silence like this summer. So I guess for me it's a mixture of nostalgia (if 18 months ago can be called nostalgia/haha) and actual technical details that make TSW2 more enjoyable.
It’s like when you try out a new recipe for dinner, yeah sure, you could have made that same meal you enjoy for the hundredth time, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. DTG will no doubt run into issues with TSW4, but obviously, something is really enticing about the new dish that spurred them on to make it. So yeah, I’d expect it to have new features or routes the devs always wanted and couldn’t do, OR, vast improvements in other areas like performance/frame rate. The problem I have is that (if it is TSW4 announced tomorrow) it is essentially coming out a year early—so the question OP has, and the expectations from the fans (warranted) are now sky high. To move on to the next game “early” is telling the community/customers you have something really special and your new product has improved so much you’ll want to move on. That’s a high bar. And I love being high at the bar.
Really curious to know what feature or features justify the TSW4 tag (or are DTG having us on). Guess we’ll find out soon enough!
Story Mode where you get to be Phil the train driver. Phil has a cabinet in his living room that is empty. You need to make Phil fill the cabinet with golden medals by becoming the best train driver in Train Sim World.
Absolutely because when it isn’t TSW4 and something like a summer/autumn release of a mainline route then everyone can moan it wasn’t TSW4 when they said it shouldn’t be TSW4 anyway they should fix TSW3! I’m going to start a “DTG when is TSW4 coming then as this wasn’t it” shortly after 13:00 tomorrow *joking as I’m going out tomorrow so catching the highlights later on before reading the forum fume
Basically with RTX 3060 I can run East Coastway for example on Ultra in TSW2, but on High in TSW3, and get the same GPU temperature (same engine.ini settings as well). Running Ultra in TSW3 is an oven.
Everyone will have something to complain, no worries there. Everyone will be arguing why someone else is wrong and because it was not done like "everyone" wanted it to be done the game will fail and DTG will go bankrupt very soon if they not make the changes before the release.
Dear, I cannot run it on "low" and maintain 60FPS, at all. Miniumun GPU required for this game is GTX750Ti and my Rx480 is apparently about 166% faster than that.
Oh yeah, as far as FPS, I'd say average is about 40. Once in a while I look and it's 57-58 and that's unusual.
It always was 2pm UK time. It is advertised as 1 pm UTC, which is therefore 2 pm BST, and 3 pm on the continent (CEST).
