Unusually for me, I’m more impressed with the choice of US route than the British one. (The Austrian route - meh).
Yes, people have asked for LNER but what a strange choice of section. Peterborough - Donny is neither her nor there. Surely Kings X to Peterborough or York - Edinburgh would be more logical.
It is an unbelievable missed opportunity not to have York Station.
I might play this if it is on Game Pass but otherwise will wait until there is a route I want.

Core features- Scenario planner 2.0, only for TSW4. Chaining paths, adjusting start time relative to service start time. Some other stuff which looks pretty cool like sending ai trains to portals. But.. only for TSW4

 

More specifically only for TSW4 (and onwards) routes. Standard DTG fire and forget for all existing DLC

 

Great, selling a feature that was on the roadmap for years as an exclusive for a "new" release. I see they have chosen the Trainz way...

 

Waste of time if you ask me, haven't been impressed by what has been shown. Again like with TSW2>TSW3 all of this SHOULD be a core update not an entirely new game... Have fun paying for TSW 3.5 ladies and gents.

EDIT: After watching the full stream the only thing that peaked my interest was the Preston to Blackpool route with the pacer set during the BR blue era.

 

I thought the TSW3 version was Scenario Designer 2.0. It was a significant improvement on the original.

 

PC spec requirement is my main concern. hope it will not be skyrocketed.

 

Looks like they looked at which bits of TSW2 they never did and just added these as 'core updates'

You just wait and see, TSW5's deluxe edition will come with an update to the 187

 

Toggling liveries is an excellent idea

 

So far, Scenario Designer 2.0 and Livery Editor 2.0 don't look too amazing. A few nice QoL things. DTG talking about how all these features are amazing, but really, they're basic stuff that should've been there from the start. Setting a low bar?

 

Is it just me or do the graphics look exactly the same? Im still seeing the same issues we currently have.

 

Livery designer 2.0- new UI, Undo, Redo, Custom text. Toggling ai liveries On/Off, Layer limit increase 300 to 1000, operator logos

 

It's exciting to think about a toggle for AI liveries that aren't showing up in timetable mode in the first place.

To me, no new ICE train, no new Germany route, I will not buy

 

Watching it now but my problem with the ÖBB Baureihe 1016/1116 are they new build or simply reusing the Rapid transit DB Baureihe 182. If DB Baureihe 182 was the base then problems like AFB off from save

 

The thing is though, improving on what already exists should be encouraged, it's what DTG should do, so I'm happy with this.

 

Clarification: is it the uploader or downloader that sets the toggle on liveries?

 

Spot on and for Railpool Vectron it can be reskinned to make the ÖBB Baureihe 1293 Vectron which runs on Vorarlberg Bahn the TSC Three Country Corner route

 

That's nice, but really do you need to build up a hype around something like an undo feature? Undo is pretty much the standard in even basic software. It's nice, it's useful, but should've been in 1.0 without a few developers talking minutes on how awesome the new undo feature is.

Same for other basic features they've added. Nice stuff, but not hype-worthy.

 

Photo mode? Pausing the game? Funny that for years we've been told by Matt that the game can't be paused because the engine doesn't like it and breaks things but it's now an added feature for a paid update...

Thinking about it now.
They should have built the ECML from Stevenage to Doncaster.
Then we could have used the Class 700 from Stevenage to Peterborough instead of it being Ai only.

Every new feature announced for TSW4 sounds like it could be a free update. Also some trains like Class 387 and
ÖBB 1116 are not present for the base routes. But Dovetail will probably sell them to us like a whole new DLC

 

Fixed scoring - £60 please

 

I honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry. "Scoring 2.0" Like you just couldn't fix the scoring in TSW3!

 

Portals, Pressing Pause and making Screenshots, routing trains a certain way.... all stuff, that is totally normal in TS Classic. It´s only taking them like 6 years to include all this in TSW. What a joke!

 

Some very good scoring system updates more geared towards driving safely and correctly. Penalties also geared towards this so not so punitive. This looks actually good. Safety systems accounted for as well. Very disappointing thats its only TSW4 apparently.

 

The details on the JT Blackpool route and all the pricing/bundle details is coming just as I'm getting on a train, boooooo

Photo mode is cool but overall very disappointing so far....nothing to justify TSW4 IMO.

 

They were thinking of least effort routes to maximise profit. That's just how DTG operate.

The 700 is AI only because there's nowhere for it to go. It runs from Peterborough to the south, while the route runs to the north.

 

Turned it off after them announcing tsw 4 and started talking about the austrian route. Listened to that boring intro music for nowt, think of the production costs alone on that intro. When they were supposed to be taking a break fixing bugs? I suppose that's what they said about 2 before 3 was announced. Shows you how much money they're making though and where the priorities lie in spending it.

So what is it 3 lacklustre routes, the ones that were leaked? Even the ecml, another great route chopped up into a disappointing section. And some features that have been promised since the tsw 2 days, locked behind a pay wall.

I'm just disappointed really I had hoped they weren't daft enough to announce 4 but it seems I was severely disappointed. (Edited after putting the wrong country)

Maybe a lot of time and resource has been spent in order to work out how to do this and implement it.

 

Thought I’ll chip in with my feedback so far on the TSW4, I wasn’t particularly liking the system of abandoning TSW3 of course, but in the end I would have probably got “TSW3 rush hour” so ain’t a great deal of an issue for me.

The routes seem in general interesting and nicely detailed especially with the long distance scenery, they didn’t miss out the LA skyline and the mountains in the background of Austria are looking nice.

I’ll touch on ECML in specific, I was predicting ECML south Peterborough - London, I’m quite happy with the choice they went with on that front, I never minded which section tbh. maybe could have went to York but 80 miles is a decent section. Would be nice to see the 91 arrive to TSW in the future in some way or the other, but I do like the 800 series especially the cab. Don’t really want to say it was bad without York as I really don’t think it is. It leaves open for the future a longer section such as Edinburgh to Newcastle or now Doncaster to Newcastle in order not to miss out the York to Doncaster section or have York stop at Darlington or Durham not Newcastle. (Not forgetting the diversion line of the Durham Coast Line)

scenario planner I wasn’t expecting to see here, I’m glad it’s been given some requested features, text input and increased layers something of which I called for and indirectly called for recently on the forums. And some return style services is very nice to help bring about a custom timetable system, probably should be kept separate from scenario planning should it be fully done though.

screen shot enhancements are nice, I do often take them so improving them is quite welcome.

hopefully new scoring system will be implemented good to what everyone already has on completed services and won’t be impossible to achieve.

my thoughts overall are positive, I still as I’ve called recently want to see the outstanding issues of routes and core addressing that hasn’t of course changed. once I see things in previews and when they release I’ll probably pick it up, should things be on good quality type stuff.

 

But DTG chooses the route? I mean we have only ourselves to blame i guess assuming they had bigger plans for the Class 700....

 

Am I the single one that don't want to burn everything here ?
