I'm coming out of the closet, I'm excited. Ecml and getting my grubby hands on the editor!

I don’t think Matt is personally responsible for this, why call him out directly? Is this not making it personal?

It's actually finally something good but what about the 700 updates or the updates what we where promised before the announcement of TSW4 so what are they doing about them?

Some may think that. I was just stunned by the good musicians and the way they really put their soul into it. Many happy faces there. Yes! I have the Spotify list. But, that's me. In the later sixties as I am. Older people also run this game.

It's not just about optimising - Epic have literally not built their editor for consoles and honestly I have no idea how that would even work - the idea of using a controller to do what the editor does is horrifying to think of. You need a full keyboard and mouse, and multiple screens really.

    Looking forward to it.
Three new routes and five new trains in the deluxe edition is a bargain.
I hope those who are disappointed or angry can find happiness in whatever they play next.

Just for info - the composer of the piece was Ben, who was the one on keyboard. He's done all our music for quite a while now, including last years theme. Generally all round top guy and exceptionally talented at what he does.

Very impressed with the new features on TSW4, in particular 'Scoring 2.0' and the idea of being rewarded for doing things the right way. Much more than we got with TSW3. Special Edition is £89.99, take my money noooww. :D

To anyone I keep seeing defending this with things like "It's a business, shocker", please keep in mind that just because they're a business and need money to survive does not justify unnecessary milking of a product.

There's very little in this announcement that I would say actually justifies having to have made it into a new game.
If you don't have to, just don't.

And if they do, like they do, then I'm expecting a whole lot more of an overhaul of the complete experience than this.

Frankly, considering what's in the announcement, they should've just announced this as a route pack, which would've probably fairly gone for the same price as TSW4 will be, and just do the core features as a relatively large free update.

Now they're forcing you to buy the new the new game which could've just been a route pack to be able to keep support for the game, an to be able to make use of future content in the first place.

Yes, I could just continue playing TSW3, and I have most of the content I'm actually interested in. But now, if in the future I finally see a new route I'm actually interested in, I would have to first buy TSW4 to be able to just get that route in the first place.

    Unacceptable business practices.

I know from trying to play titles like Cities Skylines or back in the day Transport Tycoon on the console with joypad is frustrating and awkward. Trying to do intricate route building just a non starter IMHO unless you have great dexterity and patience of a saint. So PC with KBM wins out on that one.

To be clear. Had they just announced it like this. I would've not complained at all, whatsoever. Would've been totally fine and fair by me.

Do I understand this correctly and this effectively allows you to run your own custom consist in an AI-populated timetable, giving the benefits of TSC Quick Drive mode?

You mentioned the editor being available from the Epic store, will it be usable on the Steam version or only the Epic version?

Those wondering about the Editor and its content shareability on consoles, Farming Simulator does this type of thing and does it very well. Only PC users can create content (maps, vehicles, etc.), but console users can access it (well, much of it anyway).

Assuming us console users will (eventually) have a similar experience, I'm super-happy to see this make its way to TSW.

How does this differ in any significant way from Rush Hour, except the addition of an ordinal number? Bundle of routes, upgraded core, incompatible with older content (but that upgraded for free)

I don’t mind not having an editor, I do mind console players not being able to get access to the routes made with the editor

    That.

Better even because you can spawn, despawn, spawn multiple things such as some wagons to go get, set paths dynamically at any point, clear paths and assign new paths etc. You can wander anywhere and you'll see finally how dynamic that dispatcher really is.

All in amongst the AI in service mode, or without any of it in free roam mode - up to you.

    Matt.

Scenario Planner 2.0?! What a disappointment, you still can’t follow a timetable with timings entered yourself or generated which is such a shame. Even AI generated timings, stopping at stations, would have been something! But nevermind. Will stick to timetable mode I guess!

I just had a look at the pre-order pricing on PS5.

For reference. The cost of ONE route DLC for TSW3 on PS5 is usually $53 Canadian.

The cost of the pre-order for TSW4 standard on PS5, which includes the new core game and THREE new routes, is $53 Canadian.

I am sure pricing is similar for other countries.

So really, to anyone moaning about having to buy "an entire new game", you're actually getting an amazing deal, even if you're only interested in one of the new routes. Its basically 3 routes for the price of 1 PLUS the core improvements.

If you really hate all 3 new routes and have no interest at all (which would surprise me), there is no rush to get TSW4, you can wait for a sale and get it dirt cheap down the road when a route you do want becomes available.

I have no definitive opinion about TSW4. I think it could have been TSW3 + a routes/loco pack but I guess marketing techniques are behind all this.

What puzzles me is what I think important to improve and was not mentionned at all:
    - No UI update
    - Nothing about performance improvements
    - Nothing about STUPID PASSENGERS

We have a lot of problems to solve to make user generated content available on editor - so why wait for releasing the editor until we solve them, let's get it out now and start the process of people learning and creating (which will not be a 5 minute job, trust me, it's a powerful complex tool). Meanwhile we can find the right way to get content over to consoles - there's logistical issues like managing file sizes, storage etc - not hard but just need planning and building - and then there's cerrtification and platform issues as microsoft and sony have requirements and limitations on user generated content and "blueprint" may fall foul of them. There's also the potential for people to write malicious blueprint so we need to see what protections we can put in place to prevent it. There are many problems to solve here, but I am sure we said on the stream that we're heading in that direction and want to make it happen.

Honestly even the livery designer is much better with KBM.

On the subject of this though, I am disappointed to see there’s been no progress with the controller sensitivity. We badly need some deadzone tuning for the analog sticks.

Specifically didn't want to do a UI update. It's a waste of time and money, instead we extended and enhanced the UI, fixing some of the problems, and pushing it into other areas like scenario planner and lviery designer so they look the same.

Sorry if I missed it folks, but do we know if ps5 will have dlc limitations in TSW4? Or is add on manager good to go?

(on mobile today so I’m having a hard time keeping up with all the threads and activity. Pumped for release though)

I will be pre ordering the deluxe edition right now.... free roam and editor is all I needed to hear at the end of stream. As someone making freeware content, I want to stay on my best game and if the rest of the community now entirely moves over to TSW, I want to be prepared for that and get my head stuck in to things.
So if understand this correctly from the stream: I can basicly do anything with the editor? make an own 24 hour timetable, update routes, extend excisiting routes, build entirly new ones. With the only limitation beeing not beeing able to use most of the iconic excisting buldings for license reasons. But I can use any foliage, track, OHE, generic clutter and so on, wherever I would like to?
So for example I could take the foliage from Niddertalbahn, make foliage updates for other routes with it and release this to the community?

Like you I’d be a bit surprised and very unhappy if it was not available on the Steam version.

Edit, we can breathe easier, it has just been confirmed ok with Steam on another thread.

I’m know not to assume by now; I think there was a time when TSW2 had it and TSW3 was waiting for some time.

If you download the "route" you probably download everything else including the assets. What could be done is a community vote to see which route made by fans can go on consoles

Because with Rush Hour, a lot of features where introduced in a bundle in the already existing game in the first place.

If you did not want to make use of the features from Rush Hour, you could just not buy it and move on while still having a supported product when it comes to future content (even though they announced TSW3 shortly after that, which would've been a better comparison).

Now, it seems like you're going to have to buy TSW4 to make use of any product released in the future.

With TSW2 I was okay with it because the gameplay changes did actually seem significant.
With TSW3 I did not like it, but I put up with it also because at least it'd been a while since TSW2. And at least it fixed some of the TSW2 bugs, which still isn't acceptable for a remake/overhaul, but still.
Now though, TSW3 is barely out for a year, and they're already cutting support?! Just no. Not without absolutely gamechanging overhauls that make it feel like a significant different game than its predecessor.

    Deluxe edition preorder for me

    - very excited for the Austrian route. Was hoping it wasn’t just the one line but more of the network. Was very pleased to see that

    - very excited for the ecml and especially the flying Scotsman (my single most favorite British train). I don’t know the ecml well but so many of y’all swear by it so I’m thinking it’ll be great fun

    - the only thing I don’t like about antelope valley is the volume of trains. Nothing dtg can do there irl that’s the way it is. I love the setting. I know the American southwest isn’t for everyone but I love it.

    - the just trains route looks amazing. I was hoping for black pool north and south but they are going beyond that. I like the br blue variety.

    - love love love photo mode

    - love love love driver assist. I’ll be doing custom settings I want the help knowing what I forgot when I get into the cab of an engine I haven’t driven in awhile but can make expert settings elsewhere

    - I’m digesting scoring 2.0 I don’t use the safety systems because I want to drive the train without being a slave to them. The other stuff though is wonderful

    - I haven’t used creator club too much it was a nice presentation I don’t know how it’ll apply to my journey though

    - love love love volumetric fog. Want to see that in action

    - dtg you can’t forget about the issues with oakville and the baby bullet.

with discount for me on Xbox the deluxe is $56 … that’s three routes plus two locos for the price of 1 route plus one loco. That means I’m getting everything else tsw4 offers as a bonus. That to me justifies the new game.

not entire pleased I’ll have to download 283 gig of content again but that is a short term pain point.

    I’m a happy customer

So regarding the saved progress from TSW2 and TSW3 which can be transferred over, will that be inter-console (so PS4 over to PS5) or will that be just a PS5 copy over to the PS5 copy of TSW4

And regarding your routes from TSW3, will the TSW3 version be immediately compatible with TSW4 or will we have to wait for something which happened in the past whereby we have to wait for a compatible version before we can play on it?

UE and its editor are made by Epic, so it’s fdownloaded from its store. However, it works generally on PC

Very pleased with today’s announcement and future content apart from the fact it’s called TSW4 and when will the bugs start. Hopefully none.

I just want to be clear. I love Train Sim World, and I do appreciate and love DTG. And I understand perfectly well that it's a business and all that.
But I'm just very disappointed in this, and I would've expected and hoped better.

But none of this will ever happen!

We'll never see editor content on consoles, mark my words.

They'll say they're working on it for a while til the furore subsides, then it'll turn out to be too hard, or certification issues, or whatever.

TSW4 is a PC game with limited-feature console ports. They should just be transparent about it IMO.

I think TSW 2 had the same problem on PS5 but was not yet identified as a limit problem. It was around the time TSW3 was announced they identified the problem

Did I notice though subtle color differences in the choices? I though I saw orange highlights at the top and white and black vs the gray
