Hello everyone, as Ihave been doing landscaping on several german freeware routes over many years, I have been sold on the editor finally coming to Train Sim World. So who else is excited about beeing able to do freeware in TSW in the future? I´m really excited about the perspective of beeing able to easily download route extensions, updated, whole new timetables and more on the creators club. I think this is fantistic news! So, lets speculate or even get some answers out of Matt on here. What will be possible? If I understand correctly, the number of assets we can use will be limited at first. Where do I get assets besides building them myself? I only do landscaping and not asset creation. So what can I work with? TSG has allready responded to on railsim and denied using any of the stuff they have done. My first go to idea would have been to plant the Niddertalbahn foliage on other routes. No, not allowed.... So DTG ... what is allowed? What will be the options for making route updates and the like? Can I just plonk extra trees and grass and upload the whole thing to the community, like I would do it in TS Classic?
I would imagine there are a lot of free assets for UE that you will be able to use - especially things like foliage and landscape stuff
You should be able to place every asset in any DLC pack you own. Just keep in mind that just like with TSC, adding an asset from one DLC makes that particular DLC a dependency for your project. So be mindful of which ones you choose to implement.
From what I'm hearing, the Editor comes from the Epic Store. Do we need to buy the DLCs from the Epic Store to use them with the Editor, or is it possible to use Steam DLCs with the Editor?
You can use steam DLC with the editor. Unreal editors are just always only through epic, as they own the engine.
