In terms of distants, they won't pull off until all the block is clear, so you wont get a Distant Off on the approach to Poulton unless the last signal before Singleton is pulled off etc.

    Hello everyone!

I'm Tom one of the scenery artists for Just Trains, just wanted to firstly say a huge thank you for all of your comments so far towards the route. It really is humbling to see such kind words and excitement towards what we have had to keep secret for so so long!
We look forward to reading all your future comments, feedback and taking on potential suggestions as we move ever closer to the finish line.

This route is rather special to myself with it being on my doorstep, having lived along the Fylde Coast all my life just north of Blackpool. Its great to be part of a team bringing this iconic area to life in Train Sim World especially in such an interesting period which was well and truly gone by the time i was into the railway scene.

However this certainly not the first time i have had a dab hand into the area within the Train Sim scene. Those of you who will know from my Train Sim Classic output.

The project has been a labor of love for sure, not an easy road either with us having to learn the new tooling system via the unreal engine. But once we had put the time into learning this we soon got up to speed being able to bring over the detailing we have been known for in our more recent TSC projects.

Anyway enough of my waffle as i could go on forever and Mark will only tell me off for it :D

We are aware of the dating for the Class 40s along the route however we made a judged decision to give people more variety and to utilize another fantastic piece of traction that is available. I hope this helps :)

    Thanks

    Tom

Quick question. Will the Pacer feature the original inside (that looks and feels like a bus) or the refurbished ones with normal train seats inside (hoping for the former)?

In plain English, if a stop signal is at danger the preceding signal must also be at danger, and if the preceding signal is a stop signal it must not be cleared until the train has nearly come to a stop. The driver knows when seeing this to expect the next stop signal to be at danger. If on the other hand after passing a distant at danger the driver comes to a cleared stop signal, then they will expect all stop signals until the next distant to be clear as well.

This will be a day one purchase for one simple reason...

Really happy to see it finally coming to TSW, I can't wait to try it out.

I am assuming the Pacer drives in the more traditional DMU manner (i.e. 158 and 165), not like the 101?

Great that the 40 is layered, and much like railway modellers do, I think it’s good to be slightly flexible with the period, let’s say mid-80s, which allows for a decent selection of traction.

Correct, the Class 142 has an automatic gearing system rather than the manual style you see on the 1st Gen DMUs

Will you folks be giving the 47/4 a bit of spit and polish before release?

Just wondering if you've developed a new speed sign set of assets for this route? I guess a mixture of cut-out and reflective speed boards? It's just that the current UK reflective speed board set for TSW is pretty terrible imo, I know for your TSC routes you use a very realistic set. Can't seem to see any speed boards in your screenshots as yet.
It's a weird peeve I have with TSW at the moment (well, since GWE), but a decent set of speed signs would greatly enhance the immersion, for me anyway!

Also, was there any AWS in this era?

One question Mark, are the Class 20/31/40/45/47 all driveable on services? (If the user has the required locos as DLC). Or are they just AI?

All the lines, including those around Preston only used Cutouts in 1986, so we've just gone with DTGs for those.

AWS - Just between Fylde Jn and Farington Curve Jn, the other lines didn't receive AWS until later, despite colour signals featuring up to Kirkham.

So, the 20 has its own railtour, which visits every corner of the route, takes about 5 hours to do so. You'll need the 20 for that and that's all it spawns on.

Other than that the 31,40,45,47 all share other services and AFAIK the 47 is available on ALL trains that the 31,40 and 45 can spawn on.

I forget the number of drivable services for each, but put it this way, there are plentiful options for all, the 31 is the one with the least amount of services, but it's still a satisfying amount I'd say.

Does this mean 8F railtour or we drive diesels with MK1s and the 8F just sits in a siding or something

It is great to see another BR blue route, I hope it sells well (I am sure it will) so we see more in the future.

This will be a great route, I have the TSC version which is fantastic so can't wait to see it in TSW. The Ormskirk branch looks like it will be a nice relaxing drive too. It is great to see the layers too, can't wait to work a class 31 into Blackpool.

It would be great to see some slightly scruffy blue and grey mark 1's for some of the summer Saturday trains, we could certainly do with some more BR blue coaching stock.

Anyway, very excited for this route, if I wasn't getting TSW4 already, I would get it just to get this route.

Anyone got any ideas on the gradients? I am keen to have some thrash with a 47 ;)

Fairly confident, going on recent memory, it might be uphill from PLF to Blackpool but in saying that, it's a short distance between the two so you might not get much of a thrash. It's pretty open between Kirkham and Preston so you might get some decent action there

I'm super stoked for this route, looks fantastic and great choice of locos / AI. Really great to see my DLC being put to good use.

Given the hints we've had, I took the chance to do a round trip from Blackpool North to South via Preston over the weekend with the kids. Looks a fantastic route and can't wait it see it represented in the game. The screenshots look amazing.

Looking forward to this, and coming from Just Trains I am feeling confident this will be great.
One thing is when I look at the screenshots I really don't see much difference between TSW3 and TSW4. But that's a criticism of DTG, not Just Trains.

This is for the 8F railtour, it utilizes the MK1s from Spirit of Steam due to VAC Braking

Not being a train enthusiast but rather a casual player of the game, I recently discovered what a Pacer really was and it made me laugh. Having learned what it used to be, I saw a video of a Pacer, and it sounded just like a city bus that rattled so much you'd think it would fall apart at any moment.

Looking forward to the preview stream for this route.

This is my most anticipated route, it looks great and the cherry on the cake is a Pacer. Oh how I love the Pacer, let's hope you hit this out of the park JT.

Can't wait for a Pacer. I'm around class 142s and 143s 3 times a week as we use them at a heritage railway where I volunteer.
In fact, today we will be running a 142 and 143 lash up for services.

I hope Blackpool Tower will be lit up for evening services.
Also, I hope this route has the same high standards as the JT routes for TSC which I love driving on.

None of the TSW 4 routes piqued my interest until I saw this at the end.

FINALLY we are getting to play with the proper trains again. (I'm not including the pacer in that but at least it's got more than one handle :) )

The layers look excellent too. Thank you

Can you point me to where, please? I can see that it says that the 101 will appear in the route if you have Tees Valley, but it says the ‘route timetable will call on’ the additional locos/units listed. That could mean they only appear as AI, or that they have their own dedicated drivable schedules, or that you can choose to drive them on some schedules designed for other locos/units. I’m not clear which of these is the case.

I have to agree with Jetwash. It might sound stupid to many but I really cannot take that amount of money, even with the discount, out of our pension to buy this. This is most disappointing. I have supported this thing since it began with Railworks. Thank god i still have TSC in which steam engines actually work as intended etc. etc.

As I’ve already preordered TSW4 the angst doesn’t really affect me. However might one option for those who don’t even want to buy one of the £30 starter packs to get TSW4 to make this route part of a starter pack on release? Something for JT and DTG to consider perhaps and go a little way to placating at least some of the more discontented players.

Well done to the team at Just Trains. When it was announced that you were joining TSW around 20 months ago, I was thrilled based on your TS Classic content. Looking at the superb quality of your screenshots, the time spent has been well worth the effort, not to mention the fact that the route is even more extensive than initial theories suggested. I look forward to being a day one buyer. I am super keen to find out what you will next be working on once this route is released. I hope and pray that we might see the Chiltern Mainline perhaps.

Very much looking forward to this route. Could someone from JT confirm if period-appropriate working PIS is included at the relevant stations? I can see the back of a yellow PIS screen in one of the Preston screenshots but don't know if it's working or not :) Thanks!

Seems interesting for sure with the original mechanical setup of the 142. Such a shame a 150/1 in original Provincial livery is not included for the additional variety.

Great news, thank you. I think this is the route I’ve most looked forward to since Northern Transpennine, so in a very long time! Having a good number and variety of services on which I can drive the 101 is icing on the cake. Thank you to you and the team for thinking of those of us who loved the trains of this era and for your work on this route. May it be the first of many!
