Train Sim World 4 Roadmap Q&a (august 24th)

Hi!

can i please ask if external camera is still an option to use while driving in train sim world 4 please?

i almost always drive using external camera and not the traditional cab view, as that way you can see the track ahead and the scenery completely uninterrupted.

i always drive with a 'front nose' view; positioning the camera just outside the cab window, in the centre of the track, looking directly ahead.. and i hope i can still do this in train sim world 4.

i remember when tsw2 released there was an error where every time a train entered a tunnel, the externam camera would immediately switch to internal camera, i hope this doesn't happen again!

finally (this is probably an idea for the future now) it would be nice to have the external camera available to automatically set to a front facing external camera view looking ahead out of the cab.. instead of having to set this up every single time, is that something that could be looked at in a future update please?

perfect thank you! that was my only outstanding question yet to be answered going into tsw4.. now i can sit back and just look forward to driving my home section of the ecml next month!

 

Will there be any consideration of doing some permanent price drops for the old TSW1 era DLC that is still compatible with TSW4? there are a few routes that really don't justify the full price anymore but would be worth it at a lower price to provide layers to the newer DLC they work with (yes most go on sale for dirt cheap but Xbox never seems to get that).

 

Rapid Transit, for one. If there is really no intention to fix the issues it has then it should really be in the bargain bin permanently at £4.99.

Another example is LIRR... it is really not a route I'd want to play these days and it doesn't meet anywhere close to current standards but I'd still like to have it even just for the AI layers coming to NYT. I feel like those old routes are worth maybe half the original price.

 

My question for the Roadmap stream:

You are clearly moving to an annual TSW version increment and paid release. Can you please let us know the thinking behind this and the movement away from bi-annual version increments? Can you confirm that TSW4 will not be supported beyond September 2024?

 

Matt just confirmed that the Dosto Interlock issue is finally fixed. So it only took the full lifetime of TSW3, but at least it's finally coming. I'm probably in a minority of 1 but it's still one of my favourite routes

 

Will probably buy it again, though the main issue for me remains the almost silent 1442's. They are even worse than the UK Class 700's for sound level implementation.

 

Currently on consoles (at least Xbox), the external camera that is not directly attached to the train, spawns after the train and the is no way to catch the train let alone get ahead of it. Will it be fixed to spawn ahead of the train as I believe it does on PC.

 

Can you save in Free Roam mode?

Was any thought given to adding additional save slots to make it easy to come back to tour sandbox but still use routes as usual.

 

HEY YOU I need to report a little bit of an fail on the vectron lights. If I look on the Screenshots the high beam is completely wrong. Because the lower lights are still on. When turning on the high beam the lower ones turn off and switch smoothly to the upper ones..

 

My question is simple. Is it now official DTG Policy to go to a once a year release cycle? I ask purely for the sake of clarity and nothing more.

 

That's not respectful at all. Yelling out "You" in all caps at a dtg employee. Do you do that do your family and teachers or any other individual?

 

They're already at a lower price point ($29.99 and conversion equivalents) and when they go on sale, they can get real cheap.

 

Do you plan to make an SWT route? I’d pay a lot for one.

 

I am personally looking forward to TSW4, but I would like some clarification on the haptics. If we use a Dualshock (PS4 controller) or a Dualsense (PS5 controller) on PC, will we get the special features? Plenty of other games are able to utilize the full suite of features on their PC ports/counterparts, as I'm sure there's an API available for that (almost all of the Sony 1st party PC ports along with games from Ubisoft). It would be a real shame if us PC controller users get the shaft. Maybe in the future, we might be able to utilize the PS5's dynamic triggers as well for trains that might use a notched power/brake handle.

 

My family isn't trying to fleece me either, is yours?

What’s the difference betweenFree Roam and Scenario Planner? The way it’s been described, it seems the same to me.

 

Free roam is a world without trains where u can spawn trains how u want. Scenario planner you are doing the timetables for the trains, but u still can spawn trains.

 

according to the roadmap 2 article you can also do free roam in service mode and potentially mess up all the timetable traffic, so it isn't just a world without AI

 

It's already been fixed, so I presume it's being patched into the route for those players who are sticking with TSW3? (Not for you to answer, unless you've heard already.)

 

I missed todays stream. Any key takeaways now that the feedback loop has been in full swing for the last 24hrs?

Are station names now on the TSW4 route map?

 

From the videos that I have seen the map looks the same

 

DTG JD If I buy (preorder) the special edition with the extra routes (I don’t have three of them such as the French route and the koblenz route) will those routes become available to me whilst using tsw3 now? Or do I have to wait until the release? Only reason I’m asking is that surely the Xbox store becomes aware that I now own that older content?

This roadmap did not have the codes anymore. Or are we not getting them anymore?

 

That is disappointing, with all the changes and improvements I had hoped this would be introduced, so that we know where we are and what points there are on the map.

 

you can go to the pause menu and there is a map accessible from there with the names on it.

You are right it’s locked to tsw4 which is a bit of a shame but no biggie.

I can’t complain too much the special edition worked out quite well for me as the other routes I didn’t have plus the three new routes make it a bit of a bargain for me.

Will I have to buy Cajon Pass or will it transfer over?

 

Every DLC you got in TSW 3 will transfer to TSW4 as long as you stay in the same platform and account.

 

DTG JD what about freight cars cc livery lock, did you solve this issue. It only available to you ease to use method to make freight train more attractive, as I see by tsw4 content you back off from freight routes significantly..

 

Was anything stated in the stream about save game improvements?
Specifically more than one save slot and this issue of taking over a second train then saving and resuming losing the objective data?

 

No, afraid not on either point.

I did ask in the Q+A thread about more slots, specifically related to Free Roam saving but it was not answered.

 

Think we have to take that as a no on both points then, unless DTG JD or DTG Matt can address the issue.

 

Probably too late to ask now but, with the new reduced hud - can that be edited like we can edit on TSW3 ?
I currently drive with just destination and next speed change. I’d want to remove the gradient and signals?
I’m on Xbox series X but have keyboard which I currently use to edit hud.
