I'll preface this by saying I'm mostly interested in German as well as modern British routes so the Flying Scotsman isn't really relevant to me. Nor do I really care about getting the game 5 days early (I'll be deep in Starfield by then anyway).

That leaves the Vectron as the only real benefit to me of Deluxe Edition. Is it worth the $15 by itself? Will Voralberg be interesting/enjoyable without it?

My 2 cents is the Vectron looks super cool so I think 15 for that would be worth it. Like it will be a while before I get tsw4 (supporting a sibling out of work and just barely making it, but we making it) but when I saw that Vectron, I knew I needed it. And I'm mainly US freight kind of person.

The Deluxe edition is (my opinion) a bargain.

Actually the more I read the more amazing it gets. The amount of new content- routes, trains, potential layers, NYT, Nidder and DRA, plus the new feature set and the editor, is phenomenal for $53.

They've had a long, long time ( at least 8-9 months to work on all this content, so it ought to be in really good shape at launch. Fingers crossed.

$15 is I believe less than the normal price for a loco DLC so, yes, combined with the bundle discount for the routes it's a good deal.

You never know one day you might look at that extra content you don’t care about right now and think, wow that’s pretty cool actually I want to a give that a drive.

The deluxe is incredible valve for money really so I’d go with it honestly.

First, as solicitr said above it is cheaper than the usual price for 1 loco, and you get 2 (I know you don't care about the FS but you can consider you are getting it free).

Second, the Vectron is quite different to others because a lot of the controls are on the screens in the cabs. It will give you a different experience.

Third, I think you will be able to use it in Vorarlberg but also on Nahverkehr Dresden and I would be surprised if Joe does not include it in the Koln-Aachen timetable revamp he is working on. Will possibly be selectable as a substitution in many other routes, so plenty of opportunity to use it.

Will it ruin your experience at Vorarlberg if you do not get the Vectron? Probably not.
But given all I said previously, I think getting the Deluxe Edition is a solid option.

Add the base game plus vectron stand alone price if that is lower than the deluxe version then you can decide whether or not it’s worth it for you. I’ll bet they are close.

With the standard edition, considering the current 20% PlayStation discount, you get three routes for the price of one. The deluxe edition, for 15€ more, adds two loco add-ons for the price of one. So arguably the standard edition is a better deal than the deluxe edition. But the deluxe can obviously still save you money if:
    • You want both of the loco add-ons
    • You want at least one of the loco add-ons as soon as possible
Since the deluxe costs 15€ more than the standard and the loco add-ons will cost about 16€ individually, it would not be a good pick if:
    • You don’t want any of the loco add-ons
    • You only want one of them and can afford to wait for a sale (the loco will probably go down to 10€ or less at some point)

I’m just unclear if updated Dresden will be available (I own the route) day one if I don’t buy the deluxe version?

If so it’s standard, if not deluxe.

Dra is free if you own it. You're not buying the deluxe version for dra. You're buying it for the 2 new locos
