With TSW4 less than a month, there's lots of content coming out in the next few months. Some of that content will require other DLC to add layers to the route. Are you planning to get any other DLCs to add layers for the upcoming routes? I'm planning to get LIRR for NYT. Not sure about freight yet still waiting for the complete list. Niddertalbahn and Sursee for Vorarlberg.
I’m looking forward to the Blackpool route, but as I have all other uk routes I don’t think I’ll need anything extra. However, I am going to be trying the new Dresden route (which I’m getting with the Deluxe package) so might need to look into what I can get for that, that’s if I like German trains lol Can’t wait to try all the new routes now
TBH I might key word might get MML enchancement bundle because thats a good deal and wait for the JT route. Not sure though.
Good shout for MML enhancement as your on PC. I love MML but I’m on Xbox X so still a few problems when playing. Definitely jealous of the PC enhancements
Steam bundle it comes with: TSW3 (already own obviously) MML class 66 RHT class 37 europhoniex. For me because I only own 1/4 items its 33 quid - which is roughly equvilant to the price of MML and one of the two locos.
I still want to buy Niddertalbahn, I hope now that TSW is no longer in the GamePass that it will be on sale more often. I don't know what other DLC I need for Layers on the new L.A route.
I might finally get the Rivet Luzerne route to get that Swiss train to show up on Vorarlberg (I haven't had a huge interest in that route before because I read the safety systems are fudged). Other than that I have most of the routes that are feeding into the new ones.
To answer your question, yes. I have already done this, particularly for SEHS (literally the only reason I have the LGV route as well as other DLCs).
For the us route, it would have to be cajon pass with possibly the bnsf sd70 subbing in. That was what was shown in the gameplay video during the big event. Cajon pass is the only route in tsw to have bnsf
MML is actually pretty decent now on PC, especially with the Enhancement Pack mod for it. It's my second most used UK route after SEHS.
I fear I may have to buy MML for the layer on ECML but I really don’t want to buy it at full price just for that. If it is going to get fixed up at some point then it will be worth getting it for the route itself as well but in its current state I don’t really want it. I’ll see how much the the layer adds to the ECML before I decide.
I'd like to get Niddertalbahn and Sursee to fill out the Vorarlberg route, but since I only want them for that reason I'll probably wait for a sale. I already own Midland Mainline and LIRR.
I´ve got a lot of things on my list, now that I´m looking forward to TSW 4 with editor and all that. Even though I don´t have much game time in TSW 1 & 2, I picked up alot stuff in big sales over the years and I just got the Class 700 bundle thingy for SEHS. I´m missing most of the stuff that layers in to the upcoming JT route. Hoping for a sale to come along to pick up BR Diesel Pack (or whatever it´s called) and the Tees Valley. Will also have to pick up Midland Mainline for Layering purposes at some point. Over time I will pick up most UK and German content, I guess.... I´m still missing Niddertalbahn. It never seems to be part of sales. Maybe just bite the bullet and get it a full price. Seems to be worth it anyway! New York-Trenton with Accela is also my list when it´s gotten the new timetable. My rule of thumb is generally: if certain stuff is down 70-80% in a sale, I´ll just buy it no matter what. It will layer in to something at some point.
I'm probably gonna go for the MML + The IOW2022 or TVL + Class 20 and 31. I can't decide which one though.
I thankfully have all the DLCs needed for the Preston-Blackpool route. Got some of these add-ons (like the Heavy Freight Pack) originally to unlock some layers on other routes like WCL, so it’s nice that purchase is paying off once again! I am thinking about getting NY-Trenton once the new timetable is out. Will depend on my experience with Antelope and how much I desire more US action. Regarding other DLCs, I’d maybe get the 700 for the ECML, but there should really be more places with playable services apart from SEHS. Would love to get the 158, but only if the PS5 MML crashes are resolved. Another DLC I’ve been looking at is the 313, because I just upgraded to the PS5 version which makes it playable on London-Brighton.
Absolutely. Got these in some sort of british bundle back in the TSW2 days, and I’ve been having lots of fun. The route is amazing, and the loco add-ons show up in lots of places like railtours and other era-appropriate routes.
I don't know what players are finding so wrong with MML. I'm playing both trains all over the route with no problems. Now I do play on PC so it may be a console issue. Not the most fascinating route, but at least it isn't electric push and go. However there is that rather garish toy- like paint job on the locos. Personally, I'm hoping for a little mini- sale to celebrate the launch of TSW4. Maybe you could get it then. I'm hoping to pick up Peak Forest which I'm also not willing to pay full price for.
I'm going to do the same. The layers at Glossop and ECML are enough reason for me to buy it but only with a big discount.
I will get Niddertalbahn for the 628 for Vorarlberg. Niddertalbahn has been a route I've potentially been interested - as I absolutely love German routes - and thanks to it being popular, but the older time period is the main frustration. The 313 is absolutely recommended. For London Commuter you get lots of AI traffic at Brighton, epic ECS services to Selhurst and back, and so on - also, it brings a whole new life to East Coastway and is an absolute joy.
I bought Oakville Subdivision for $3 on Steam once upon a time. I fear that those days are long past, however. You’re better off waiting for the Humble Bundle or finding third party resellers.
For me I usually go items that are on sale for MS Store and Xbox like the DCZ DLC for Wunderline Bremen Oldenburg TVL for BCC just like RHTT Dispolok 182 for SFS Hannover Wurzburg the actual name for Kassel Wurzburg.
None, I seem to have everything for the layers of TSW4 except maybe US freight but I'm not going to bother with that
Yeah thats understandable. From what i've gathered only the class 700 and MML layer onto the ECML. I have neither but will probably grab 700 when its on sale later this year and Im planning on getting MML (+37euro&66RHTT) soon because its a route im really intrested in due to its geography (Albeit from what ive seen SHG missed a HUGE oppurtunity to have the GW logo on warhammer world which can be seen between Beeston-Nottingham IRL but thats a small nitpick and also irrelevant, 158 looks and sounds good and Im happy to get another HST given I actually dont have one yet - So yeah I think, for pc players, MML is a really good route.
Only one I might need to get is Luzern to Sursee if the RAB unit layers into Vorarlberg. Otherwise I will be looking to pick up Linke Rheinstrecke in a decent sale but that’s about all. More focused on what’s to come than what’s missing from my back collection.
I’d forgotten that there is a layer on Glossop too, probably because I don’t have Glossop yet as it is another route I’m waiting to appear in a sale. Hopefully there’s another PS store sale soon too. We’ve not long had the big summer sale so I’m expecting a bit of a wait. Peak Forest is a lovely route, well worth a sale purchase.
I know for the Antelope Route you will need UP and BNSF freight locos. Not sure which. There's some for the German / Austrian Route (but I saw that in a closed beta session so not sure I can comment). Looking further down the line (pardon the pun) for Blackpool Ormskirk you will require the following:- Compatible add-ons that can be used with the route as of 21st August 2023: If you have any of the below add-ons in your library, the Blackpool-Preston-Ormskirk route timetable will call on the appropriate Locomotives and rolling stock from these to allow you to enjoy a fuller timetable experience. Note! These are not required for Blackpool-Preston-Ormskirk to operate, they are optional add-ons that if you own them will give you a more authentic experience: Tees Valley Line: Darlington - Saltburn-by-the-Sea Route Add-On for the Class 101 DMU and PCA and HEA wagons. West Cornwall Local: Penzance - St Austell & St Ives Route Add-On for the Seacow and Turbot wagons. Northern TransPennine: Manchester - Leeds Route Add-On for the Class 45 "Peak" Diesel locomotive. Spirit of Steam: Liverpool Lime Street - Crewe Route Add-On for the LMS Stanier 8F Steam locomotive, Mk1 Coaches, 16t Mineral Wagon and 20t Brake van. BR Heavy Freight Pack Add-On for the Class 40 Diesel locomotive. BR Class 31 Loco Add-On. BR Class 20 'Chopper' Loco Add-On. https://www.justtrains.net/in-development/tsw-blackpool-preston-ormskirk-route-addon Hentis
Seems like I still will need some Loco DLC for Blackpool. Damn! I have already so much vintage UK trains.
Yeah I dont have ANY layers for Blackpool other then SOS. I might grab the BR routes on a sale later this year if I really enjoy Blackpool.
You’ve made my day, I’ve got all those routes! Blackpool is quickly becoming my favourite route and it’s not even out yet
Hmm. I have all those dlc, so good for me. But you seem to suggest that, for those who don't have some or all of them, the route will seem a tad empty. I've bought JT products in the past that required me to buy extra dlc, like wagons etc. to make them " more authentic ".
Dresden comes with a fistful of German trains already. About the only layers I can recall are the 101 and 403 (there are the usual substitutions for freight and shunting)
A complete anachronism on a modern-day route. BRO (set in 2010) is about as late as you would see a 110 other than railtours (not counting the 115 Autotrain services)
The BR110 can only be used for RE50 Services. This has been the case since the last update for Dresden-Riesa. Since then, you can also use the DB BR 182 for RE50 Services again.
Thank you for this. Can I ask, I have the Ice 1,3 & 5 from Kas/ Wor route that I think either came with TSW2 or 3 (I can’t remember as I’d never used them before now). But I think the 101 is a buy alone train? (£11.99 on Xbox store) Would you recommend I get it, as I’ve done a few runs this afternoon and I’m quite enjoying the German trains. Thank you
For the DB BR101 you need Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr installed. For all Loco DLC from TSW2 or earlier you need the corresponding home route.
You need the Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr only for the tutorials. You can use the DLC on Kassel-Würzburg and all other Routes with layers for it without HRR, but then you have no Tutorials. And yes, I would recommend the BR 101, its a really good locomotive.
This is not true, for all Loco DLC released during TSW1, TSW2020 and TSW2 you must also have the corresponding home route installed, otherwise they will not work.
It's my understanding that the only DLC locos which function without owning the underlying "home" route are those released for TSW3, the update that introduced route-independence.
