They will finally get the licensing to conrail so we can finally have them in the game! Conrail was a major railroad in the US for 30+ years. You cant have a great train sim game with all the other major railroads and not conrail. I always wondered why it was so hard to get the licensing for them.
DTG will let us know if and when they get the license. Conversations about licensing with each company are kept private. Starting to point fingers left and right does not help to get more licenses.
Licensing is really difficult. It is not something that can happen in a single day. There are a lot of rules and regulations or how the license is owned that impacts whether the license is possible at all. Maybe even valid personal reasons such as the possibility of their reputation being tarnished. It was mentioned in an old stream, but Matt explained how some tocs don't want to be in tsw4 simply because they don't want players to purposely crash and derail and post all over social media which gives the toc a poor reputation. Even if a toc reaches out to dtg and says "we want to be in tsw4", actual discussions and a licensing deal needs to happen.
According to their website, Conrail are jointly owned by NS and CSX. I should assume from that that DTG need not work too hard to obtain a licence if they even need one.
New licences are coming all the time (3 news ones for TSW4 already) but I am told that they take years to acquire and some do no want to allow the licence at all.
Yeah i understand that. But given that CSX and NS both bought Conrail, and both are in the game, i would of thought that conrails shared assets would of been easy to get.
Funny how conrail was so maligned while it existed because marked the end of what many considered a great railroading age. now people want them. I’m here not there. If they get the license and put it on the game I’ll be happy. If you don’t I’ll be happy with the heritage units we got
Funny you said that. Thats very true. I also think that most rail fans grew up with conrail ans now that its gone they want some sort of it back. Either way your right, atleast we got 3 heritage units out there.
Technically they are in game on Horseshoe Curve..... If you go to the curve itself and look closely at the sign for the GP9.... Note how there is a photo of 7048 in Conrail paint with Conrail branding.
