I have surprised myself how much I am enjoying the MML! Plenty of variety and you can just enjoy a HST Derby to Leicester non stop. 2nd last scenario. I love the cloud shadow realism and weather and lighting!!! TSW3 is brilliant!!
Yes it's a good route and I keep interrupting my alaphabetical rotation of my route collection (with the odd Quick Play lucky dip) to come back to it. Warts and all MML (and Peak Forest) stand out for me at the moment.
Exactly what I need, exactly what you presume I need or what you need? Let’s not assume that your preference speaks on behalf of the community
Just had a very enjoyable run from Leicester to Derby with the HST. Late evening service calling at Loughborough, EMP and Long Eaton so lots of opportunity to open up that lovely VP185 engine to the max. It is quite dark but in this case it adds to the atmosphere, remebering travelling in the TGS of a HST, with that lovely sound drifting back - even better if the Guard had left the door to the brake compartment open. I am really hoping SHG can look at extending this route, either north to Sheffield or south towards Bedford. What we have at present is almost an appetiser or teaser for the main course.
I want to love this route but (for me at least) the PS4 edition is in a really bad state. There are the known aws trigger issues, but i am yet to be able to drive a HST into Nottingham without the game crashing completely i hope another patch is coming for PS4 users, as it seems to work for most other players, and it would be nice to enjoy an uninterrupted run on this route.. i want to be optimistic and hope the route improves in the future!
I really have to agree, on PC with the mods installed it a great route to explore. Still like the 158 but the HST is good too.
Good to hear some positives about MML, I'm tempted to pick it up soon but was a little put off with all the negative reviews on steam. I do enjoy driving the HST so i think i'll just have to bite the bullet at some point.
It’s really not that bad, following the initial patch. The HST and 158 are more than worth the odd little anomaly on the route itself and on PC/Steam I’ve never had it crash on me. It all seems to have gone a bit quiet from SHG following the first patch, but hopefully they are still working on further improvements and enhancements.
I read all the complaints here and went and bought it the same week. I haven't had any issues (maybe several minor ones but nothing excessive!) and have got the Mastery. Even Dresden Riesa they had to fix a tutorial (I think in pipeline) to be able to get mastery. Maybe I will try another tutorial. But Dresden is one of my absolute favourites!!! MML is gorgeous!!! And Vern Skyhook IS making other parts of the network. It just depends which is first....
The HST is a nice ride with gorgeous sounds, I enjoy it more than even GWR. I do like Kassel Wurzberg route though! I was on it the other day.
Yes it's a shame the cab doors are forced shut on the GW version. IRL there was no interlocking between the cab doors (or any other doors) and being able to release brakes or take power. In fact it was not uncommon in the summer for drivers to leave the cab doors open for extra ventilation or if the cab a/c had failed.
One thing I did not like about MML is that the journey is very small. It's the only route I have I started doing timetables because I ran out of stuff to do in the Journey
Now doing a fast run from Leicester to Derby and yes it’s just under 25 mins. Hopefully when we get the ECML there will be scope to rag the MML HST up and down there, get a longer run. As it stands on MML the 120 and 125 MPH sections are a bit academic as you never get up to that speed before having to slow down again, either for a station or lower restriction. Indeed you wonder why IRL the Civil Engineer even bothered getting such short sections fit for speed that can never be attained over it.
Can anyone give a up to date comment on what the route is like on consoles? Are Safety systems still a little off the wall and random TPWS stops? The routes still on my radar just keeping my eye on it
Yes this is a alright route to drive but when all the bugs are fixed like the TPWS bugs outside Nottingham which they said they are fixed but they are not then I would recommend this route. Plus the carriage numbers are still broken plus the lighting on the HST and the 158 at night and in day light are still broken. Plus when your paying £30 you expect the route to be top notch but it isn't and the texture bugs are still a thing so this route will only be good with the MML mod on the train sim community website.
To be honest… I wasn’t expecting MML to get made and released until Skyhook Games announced it. I was surprised at the announcement, so watched the preview of the route and bought it when released. The joy of finally pulling into my home station at Leicester was very satisfactory! Needs more track and rolling stock though. The route definitely needs a 222 Meridian! If they made that train then, I’ll be ecstatic!
I have just done a Derby to Leicester HST run and had no sort of AWS or TPWS or crashing issues and that is on a series S so would likely be similar on the series x. A very enjoyable route with great rolling stock, though as discussed would benefit from being a bit longer.
I agree. Both the trains and the route are exceptional. 158 is lovely, but since the mod came out with the raised driving position of th4 HST and now the formations as a bonus, I can’t stop playing on it. Lovely sounds. Few little improvements and tweaks I’d still like to see improved but wonderful never the less.
Thankyou for that! Im also on series S! Only issue is between this another route, saving for TSW4 and the eagerly awaited JT route
Have you got any reward points? I know I am near earning a £5 voucher with it. Also glad to be of help!
Wait your not have the ASW/TPWS glitch outside Nottingham because for some reason when I come close to Nottingham C line the emergency brakes come on idk why tho. Edit: Btw I'm on PS5.
No I have never had a TPWS application there apart from one occasion when I was, admittedly going too fast and so it was correct to stop me. I will have a drive into Nottingham, tomorrow perhaps, and just double check nowt new's appeared.
I'm still having a lot of the known issues (tpws trigger and total game crashes), but i'm on ps4, it seems that the pc version is very good, the xbox version is mostly good, it's just the ps4/5 versions that have the most outstanding issues still
Same I'm on PS5 and I'm having TPWS issues I do hope they are fixed because I like driving on the route especially the 158.
My main issue I have is that the DSD on the HST doesn’t release with the button on the controller and instead I have to look down and kick the plate as such
Im getting closer to another £5 but I need to prioritise my wishlist for routes haha! Especially with TSW4 around the corner
True it is quite frustrating when you have to look down. I would probably say the split in half 158 near Derby or the trees that seemingly sprout from the ground as you drive up to them can really break the immersion
It is a great route. Too bad it crashes half the time so I can't play it anywhere near as much as I want to.
On PS5 you do seem to get random TPWS failures, the 158 suffers from them on the Nottingham approach, then the HST gets it going into Leicester. I’ve also crashed a couple of times going into Nottingham. Skyhook has now seemingly gotten over whatever honeymoon phase they were in, as there is still no update to address the update which arrived in random packages for people.
Exactly same for me.. i really want to like this route but the crashes are so common on ps4 for me still
I would like to see more daytime freight added to this route , I'm not a native to this route (only ever travelled between Derby and Sheffield on the MML) so don't know what kind of freight operates during the day but I guess there must be more IRL than what we see in TSW
Decided to revisit this route off the back of this thread. Chose the 1510 Derby- Nottingham service and just outside Nottingham right at the linespeed change to 25mph, which I was doing, the whole game just crashes, this is on PS5. Was not an AWS issue as had alresdy passed that alert and responded. So frustrating as was enjoying the drive, really like the 158. Is there any news on any further updates to this route?
Haven't played this route as often (I only really got it for the HST layer on SEHS). But what I will say is that despite only completing one service and not doing much else, it is a great route. I particularly like driving the 158.
