Resorting to insults now are we?

No I don't have adhd, not that that's any of your business.

And as for Vienna, that was in response to your statement that OBB have no depots, which is completely false.

[Removed - Alex: Insulting] If I say No depots in Vorarlberg you think it's all of Austria. You have a [Removed - Alex: Insulting] view about countries. So probably Switzerland is just a city in your eyes...

My view about different countries is fine thank you very much, I was only pointing out that Dtg don't have to visit the actual route to get sound recordings, just a depot where the trains are based.

In Austria no train is based on a single depot. They go to the nearest depot. So you know.

Yes I know that, that goes for trains in most countries, you're just misinterpreting what people are telling you.

I don't see that in all countries?? Austria is one of the only countries doing this.

Uk bases the same type of trains at multiple depots, so does Germany, United States, France, Switzerland etc.

bodensee#8535 from the start, you've been a problem in this thread. First you can't accept that dtg couldn't record a talent 1. Then you can't accept that sound recording is complex and requires a lot of planning. They can't just invade a depot or a train just to record sounds in the middle of the night or 2am. You said you don't care if it has be done that late but they're not robots. They need their sleep too and telling them to pull an all nighter shows you have no respect for them. Sound recordings takes multiple days, not one hour. You also need clean recordings so you can recreate it without background noise getting in the way. Now you're just insulting people because you have nothing better to say. And just because a train can't be recorded in person, doesn't mean it shouldn't be made otherwise many dlc in tsw wouldn't exist.

I agree, though background noise really isn't a problem, as long as it doesn't clip or the 'important' frequencies and their respective harmonics are nearly inaudible

Right. Please stop the back-and-forth, or I'll lock the thread and take further action. Points have been made, let's leave it there.

Isn't there a way of rent a 4024 or 4023? I mean they are getting replaced. There should be some standing somewhere and waiting for their new owner or the scrapyard. (this should not insult someone, it is just a idea)

Why don’t you rent a Talent 1 by yourself and record the sounds? Might as well buy a RhB GE 4/4 ii along with it, since those sounds are also not correct.

Might as welk lock this thread up

If ÖBB or other EVUs rent them out, it might be theoretically doable, but renting one would be extremely expensive. You’d probably also need to get an EVU on board as DTG is not a registered EVU (and thus can’t run trains). Nothing in railroading is cheap. Even if DTG invested that sort of money, it would not do them much good. Besides a qualified driver, they need space to run it on.

A yard/depot would do in a pinch but you would not get the recordings you need (no open track for full speed and open throttle). You’d also need to get the dispatcher for the yard on board for which you need good contacts in the industry. Not just anyone will let you do that. Running it on open track would likely be a bureaucratic nightmare with permits, licenses and forms needed. The specific things needed for a sound survey would also be a problem. You can’t just stop and go however you wish and hold up traffic.

In short, the idea is just not realistic.

In real it is easy to get a train on a Railway. U can book that online. And u don't need someone for shunting. Normal traindriver can do that too.

If it really were that easy, there would be no issue with getting sound recordings. But it's a lot more complicated than that when you look at the whole picture and organizing everything without causing disruptions. It would also be highly unlikely it can run on the mainline to get sounds as speed which is what you need. Static sounds and really slow speeds don't result in anything meaningful.

This thought has been bothering me the whole time. If DTG is able to copy-paste the incorrect Talent 2 sounds onto the Talent 1, what's stopping them from copy-pasting the mostly correct Class 377 sounds onto the Talent 1? Everyone seems to be glossing over this.

Maybe AP wouldn't have allowed it? They are the ones who own the 377 sounds after all and the licensing deal with that probably said it is only allowed to be used in a 377, not anywhere else. Otherwise, dtg would have just used it

Maik did the sounds for the Talent 1. He said he simply wasn’t aware that the 377 sounds similar. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if rennekton#1349 is right and even if Maik had been aware, there might have been licensing issues with AP.

That's not true, the person who took this decision already explained on the forums. The sound being similar to the class 377 was something that another forum member found out after the preview stream, before that was posted nobody knew that this option existed or that it sounded more similar to the 4024.
Basically it looks like this task was done by a single person who did not draw this connection.

Personally I am a bit concerned why the person felt the need to expose themselves like that, DTG should IMO keep their devs from assuming personal responsibility for issues, for mental health reasons. But I think it's also good that DTG are not committing to a fix if they cannot guarantee it right now.

With a 1000 layer livery editor you could create and run your own "i hate railpool" livery in whatever colour you wish now right....?

Quick way to solve your boredom, you knew that though before posting right?

A release with no livery wouldn't matter now you could source your own..

Well heck, I’m not well informed enough to argue with the all-powerful force that is licensing. I’ll just remain hopeful that using these sounds still is a possibility in the future.

I simply can't just grab any sound that lays around in the sources. Especially AP sound is a No-Go without having licencing cleared before. As i was not aware that this would be a possibility to use instead of the 442 sound, there was no option. Since i made the sound for the 442 the days back, i just could use it again without asking anyone. There was a plan to replace some traction audio with more prototypical ones, but since we have no recordings and i can't simply put my fingers into YT videos and such, there was nothing to use, or nothing that was good enough to use and so i decided to use the 442 sound as it is for now. It's not the worlds end i would say (maybe for some of you it is). We developers need to make decisions sometimes that we don't like either. But there is always the need to get the product done in the given time. There is no "i need 10 weeks more to do it because there is no good sound". It wasn't either clear that there will be no sound source at the end. I did expected some recordings of course. But then they were not coming. I always had the backup plan to use the 442 sound then to get a product done. No product, no income, no payment to Maik, no Maik anymore.

Please stop spreading false facts (and trolling). Talent 1 aren't replaced anytime soon by the ÖBB. They just got upgraded with new liveries and interior. In Vorarlberg they are getting replaced by Desiro ML, but they aren't scraped in the near future just used elsewhere in Austria.

Why are you still refusing to understand and move along. At this point, do it all yourself. You go ask AP and use their sounds, create your own vorarlberg and your own 4024. It's not even appropriate to treat staff members that way. You don't have any respect for anyone. He explained everything and you refused to listen.

The critical node istn't thr train so much as the driver. To do a sound survey you effectively need to have somebody drive the train for you at various speeds and acceleration rates etc etc etc. The RW basically has to provide DTG with a rail chauffeur.

Thats correct, usually railway operators have spare units in case one brakes down. They are also necessary for the HU (Hauptuntersuchung) or R1 / R2 bogie overhaul as "moving spare" to not affect the timetable.
Either you have to overhaul the vehicles after a certain age, or after the traveled distance, depends what comes first (example for small overhaul 6 years / 700'000km, depends on the type)

In praxis one unit goes out of service to make the overhaul, one spare unit enters the service. (Same for bogie overhauls).
