Overview The RF&P Subdivision is a 115 mile rail line running from Acca Yard in Richmond, VA to Union Station in Washington, D.C. The line serves CSX, Amtrak, and the VRE. Lots of passenger and freight comes through the RF&P sub. Areas of interest along the RF&P Union Station in Washington, D.C. is the start of the NEC and one of the most famous stations in the US. Doswell is where the Doswell interlocking is located. This is where the C&O Piedmont Sub and RF&P Sub cross over each other. Ashland, VA is a famous town in Hanover County. It has its own virtual Railfan because of the amount of trains coming through the area. Acca Yard / Bryan Park Terminal is the main rail yard for CSX on the RF&P sub. Excellent, this is a route that I know several people want in TSW. If DTG is able to work with VRE it would be awesome to make it happen. The combined freight and passenger services would make for a very cool dynamic on the route.
Here's an example of what the timetable could look like for passenger services (a lot of this is pre covid which I use for a lot of the timetables I build).
I haven’t seen a VRE train in years as I live near the southern end of the RF&P so I didn’t know. If they still use the passenger SD40 or GP40 (I forgot which one), that might be a good second engine for the VRE services. Edit: I just learned they retired everything except for the MP36PH-3C
All the Amtrak services do terminate on Northeast Corridor Boston Trenton via Providence Rhode Island Brown University Station and NY Penn making the Regional services playable on this route and NEC Boston to Trenton route.
This looks like a great route. Plus we get both freight and passenger trains. I really want the Siemens Chargers or P42DCs. A CSX ET44AH, Genset Switcher, SD40-3, GP40-3, and GP38-3 would be nice to see, too.
Here’s one of my Railfanning videos I did at Ashland on the RF&P. Shows some of the variation of trains on the RF&P. (Sorry about the part where I start yelling, I made a mistake and stood on the side of the tracks the train was on making it too close for comfort)
