One of the most diverse railways of England the Great Central Railway, was what the name implies the railway goes through the central of the cities. I chose Leicester because the preserved version is one of Leicester’s best and Sheffield because it’s not that far away.

The Great Central Railway was formed in 1897 and was the last Railway to arrive at London with their station London Marylebone. It was sadly demolished in 1969 from the Beeching Axe.

The route is only 57 miles and switches from city to country and room for many expansions and loco packs. This route is based in 1964 with Steam and Diesels. Because the railway is diverse this means mainly every 1960 working locomotives can be Layered onto the route. In 1923 the Great Central merged with other companies to make the LNER so I will suggest eastern Steam trains.

I'd prefer an earlier steam route. But would definitely still pick this up.

I would love to have an early route like an Edwardian because the Great Central had both lined black and Green with 4-4-0s, 4-4-2 Atlantics and 2-8-0s. If we did have it based in this time then it would be hard for sounds because no original GCR loco runs and the towns and people would look very different. I'm happy either way.

Great suggestion mate, would be a brilliant route to have, and drive. Just out of pure personal preference I would rather a V2 than B1 but any LNER traction would be great.

Personally I would prefer to see the southern section from Leicester, certainly to Woodford Halse if not all the way to Aylesbury.

I think it's sensible to layer everything (1960 related) on to this route and have it as one grand steam and diesel route

What about a standard and deluxe version of the route
