DTG JD Can this thread be re-pinned, please? I’m not sure why it’s been unpinned. Thanks.

Much agreed, this is the best thread on the entire forum and deserves to stay at the top.

    Placeholder for later…
Found one on the Bakerloo 1938 stock Journey mode. Run from E&C to H&W, but you are following something close in front from the get go. It is mega tricky as you are getting red signals in the tunnel sections, some of which are on the right hand side and can’t be easily seen from the driver side. First attempt ended in a SPAD approaching Waterloo. Going back in for another try later, at which point I’ll confirm which service/Journey it is.

I stopped playing Bakerloo because with the 1972 stock there are some signals which, because of the particular curvature of the line at that point and the fixed Driver’s position in the cab, were literally not visible at any point on approach. Having twice had SPADs at signals which were never visible in the windscreen, I gave up.

Is the visibility from the 1938 stock any better in this respect? I refunded it immediately having heard its sounds (or lack of) but I believe this has been fixed so I’m thinking of re-buying it.

1938 sounds are 75% fixed and actually quite good. I even swear to hearing reverb in the tunnels. The view out the front is worse for signal sighting than the 1972 stock. In fact I might have to consider switching signal distance and aspect back on for this run, particularly as LUL signalling is unforgiving with its advance warning of upcoming red signals.

Back to my Bakerloo Line run referenced above.
The train is 222D-11 from the 1938 stock Journey mode. Note this is shown as a service to Harrow but in fact terminates at Stonebridge and goes on the depot. You are following very closely behind a service to Queens Park through the tube section, requiring great skill and observation particularly if driving with the signal aids off. There is only the one in cab forward view available on the 1938 stock though you can try and get into head out view (two clicks on the Left Key for PC users),

I strogly recommend saving after each station so you can go back if you end up SPADing like I did on the first attempt. Second time I completed the run and without switching on the aids too, but there were a few white knuckle moments.

Thank you for maintaining this list. Can I request that they be merged into a single table? TSW3 is about to be obsolete and it doesn’t make sense to have a separate list for TSW4 routes.

That is exactly what I was thinking as well. I plan on keeping TSW3 & TSW4 on the same list and migrate DRA services as they are posted once the upgrade and Vectron come out. I will include a reference in the spreadsheet to the 35(!) or so runs already posted for DRA.

I want to thank you for your efforts in maintaining this list -- I find it refreashing to see sucha long lived thread that promotes these activities that people find enjoyable in contrast to the constant bickering in most of the other threads.

The TSW3 spreadsheet is now updated to TSW3&4 with reference to prior DRA and SEHS recommended runs:

I am looking forward to the TSW4 additions, though we may want to hold off on recommending runs during the early access period since all the layers won't be available.

On Niddertalbahn, RB 7058 Bad Vilbel - Stockheim at 08:20 sees the train being split in Heldenbergen-Windecken where the rear 628 ends. The front half continues to Stockheim as this service, while the rear one has two follow up shunting movements (RB Heldenberger-Windecken Stabling Part 1 & 2).

I would also like to see the documents merged, there is no reason for having to first find out when was which route released. And updated routes like DRA will suddenly start jumping between the documents with re-releases.

Two services which belong here from SEHS:

    4Z61 and 4Z62.

Once you finish 4Z61, you can then continue with 4Z62.

4Z61 from Faversham to Rochester old station. You follow a 375 all the way. Ypu catch up to it near Rainham

4Z61 you follow a Thameslink from Rochester to Dartford. You catch up to it at Gravesend. On the approach to Gravesend, you also pass an unusual Class 66 formation (two locos, two HKA (I think?) wagons.

    Nice AI for both services.

  21. Hahaha I spadded a few times on Bakerloo.

I think once you get good habits it will happen less or ZERO!

I wish District or Piccadilly line can come.

What is the time set for Bakeloo? 2017? They still use Old stock???

RE1 Aachen Hbf on SKA, New Journey timetable.

I selected the DB BR 112 for this afternoon run starting at 14:10 and there’s quite a bit of traffic all along the route ranging from S-Bahn, freight and Regionals.
I even saw a freight train being held at Langerwehe station while, a regional express was leaving the station! Certainly not a dead run!

DTG JD dtg_jan why does this topic keep getting unpinned? Surely it's not causing that big of an issue to the TSW4 threads.

We restructured the forums last week, so in that time, it's likely been unstickied. What I'll do - as TSW4 stuff will likely dominate for the foreseeable, is pin this into the Guides section, as this would be a great thread for new players as well.

The problem with the TSW4 threads is they all become screaming matches between people with some rather extreme views about DTG. This was one of the few threads which was still worth reading because people communicate in a civil manner.

The problem is, it relies upon people contributing to it regularly, and hidden away here, that won’t happen - it will just get forgotten and die. The point of pinning it was to keep it visible so that people remembered to keep contributing. Pinning it here has the opposite effect.

Can you tell us what the problem is with it being pinned in the general discussion forum? Why do all the threads there have to be on the same subject? If the problem is that it’s not about TSW4, that’s just because TSW4 hasn’t been released yet. As soon as it is, people will contribute their favourite runs on TSW4 routes too.

Personally, I am also not a fan of this move. I would much rather have it periodically unpinned here than hidden in the Guides section, where expienced people are less likely to see it and contribute. This thread is the first place I look when sitting down to start a session. It relies on experienced players recognizing a good run and posting the relevant details.

The community has kept this going for nearly 3 years and for me, it serves as a welcome reminder of all that is right with this game and how much I enjoy TSW.

I think this great thread was created with the intention of being a meeting point for players to share those services that for one reason or another had surprised us and we found special because they stood out from the rest. It was a great idea because today there are thousands of them in total and the task of searching for these services and finding them for a single person would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

It has more than served its purpose; thanks to this thread, the generosity of the players and the great dedication and patience of its creator in updating the spreadsheet, many of us have been lucky enough to enjoy those special moments.

Therefore, in my opinion, moving this thread to a subforum where traffic is minimal compared to the general discussion is a big mistake for two reasons. First, because it is condemning it to be practically invisible, which will negatively affect the participation of players reporting new services, and reducing the possibility of other new players to see it and enjoy all the existing services, and second, as I said before, because it is giving a wrong interpretation to the sense for which it was created, since the intention was not to become a guide but a meeting point where you can share good times.
I fear that this movement will mean the death of this thread, and it does not deserve it due to the great impact and acceptance it has had, in addition to all the effort that so many people have put into making it so. For all this, I ask JD to reconsider its position and return it to its natural place, that of general discussion, where it is encouraged that new and veteran players can continue enjoying and sharing awesome services on the existing routes and all those that are about to come.

Here's a different sort of service for DRA, the 766.2 "Empty Stock to Meissen" at 0550. Although it's fun to roll through all those stations that these services usually stop at, you do have to watch out for PZB checks due to catching up to a stopping Meissen service. You might be able to time everything so you don't have to come to a complete stop, except for that last one! If you select a mid-September run, you'll have a great sunrise behind you, including a great photo opportunity at the Elbe crossing.

I also support moving this thread back to general discussion for maximum visibility. It is certainly the most positive thread in the entire forum. It should be prominently displayed where the players will be most likely to see it.

Certainly needs to be in general discussion.

There are a couple of runs I wouldn't have otherwise done had it not been for this.

We can always review this, but for the time being, this feels like the most sensible place to have it, given the influx of new players coming in with TSW4 - plus the fact we would unlikely sticky it in the General forum over the TSW4 Early Access and launch window, and there is a greater chance of it getting lost among the other conversations.

Endless duplicated threads on the same subject in the general forum is fine, but create a genuinely interesting, useful and popular thread and it’ll be shunted away to a little-used sub-forum which is completely inappropriate for the subject of the thread, where nobody will see it. Ridiculous.

No offence, JD, but why would it need to be unstickied in General Discussion anyway? Is having one thread celebrating TSW’s timetables truly that bad for TSW4’s release?

Not at all, but it's likely we'll need to have multiple stickied threads, particularly over Early Access.

OK, I know it is "dangerous" to be posting TSW4 runs before all the layers are available on the 26th, but this one is 25 minutes of pure Vectron TSW4 goodness:

70999 Light Loco Move Lindau-Reutin to Wolfurt at 09:35 with the Vectron on S-Bahn Voralberg (SBV? VBG? - do we have the "official" abbreviation yet?)

The Vectron is flat out awesome. The looks, the sounds, the physics, and the functionality are all spot on for me. I can't get enough of driving this loco. To make this run more immersive, change the power at the start to DE 15kv. That way you have to change it to AT 15kv at the border neutral section.

That changeover requires a lot of looking down and, at the changeover on this run, you don't want to miss any signals. So, I recommend using keyboard shortcuts for panto up and down and MCB open and closed. For PC, the default shortcuts are P for panto up and Shift P for panto down. I changed the Circuit breaker shortcuts to Shift O for Open and O for Closed. That way, you enter the changeover with Shift O and Shift P, all the while looking up out of the window. When you have a chance to look down, you can switch the power over to AT 15kv. Then you can be looking up for panto up with P and MCB close with O.

The adverse signals begin at the changeover and continue due to 4024 traffic in both directions.

I highly recommend the Vectron Advanced Features thread by cwf.green found here:

Great run! I had a lot of fun with it. Another thing to keep in mind if you drive it is that pre-signal repeaters in Austria, unlike German ones, can have a 1000 Hz PZB magnet. I didn't know, so when I spotted a magnet next to a repeater I was like "ah, spotted the rare 500 Hz magnet, cool" then got penalty braked :D

Oh, and the service that gets this Vectron to Lindau in the first place, 49765 Wolfurt -- Lindau-Reutin at 09:12, is great as well. As you can see from the times, the 70999 light loco move back to Wolfurt follows immediately after you arrive in Lindau. Both services together give you a nice 45 minute out-and-back run, with two border crossings, changing ends at Lindau, and a bunch of adverse signals both ways to keep you busy.
