It takes time. Hopefully if we keep referring the newbies to this thread we'll see some more detailed suggestions soon.

Who has the time to write such an essay for a suggestion.

Not me that’s for sure.

 

No essay needed. But saying "Add this route with this train because I want it" doesn't exactly outline a good suggestion.

 

At this point, why not just list everything damn train and line in the world then? With no context or info?

 

It's pretty to the point and can't be any more clear. I see nothing wrong with it.

 

Most people wont care if someone just randomly names off a train and route that they haven't heard of. They also wont to their own research on it. Not to mention its very low effort and buries the actual good suggestions with work done to them.

 

Should someone who made a suggestion care about what other people think about it?

 

The point of the suggestions is to sell the idea to both the playerbase and DTG, and if it does fit and is good suggestion, it could actually get made.

But if the suggestion is plain and short, and no one outside of those that knows it see it, they wont care and what incentive should DTG do to pursue that suggestion.

 

I don't need to sell anything. DTG needs to sell something and to do that they need market research.

DTG will know what's suggested, and if plenty of people suggest it, they know there's a demand, no matter how short the suggestions are. Writing a long essay isn't gonna do anything.

I think they should, because since this topic has been pinned people have been using it as an excuse to go around policing the forums telling others their suggestion doesn't meet up to their self-invented standards.

But that’s all that’s needed in all honesty. It’ll then be down to DTG to decide whether to pursue it and how they go about doing it.

 

Blacknred81 You were only trying to be helpful and informative. Remember this is just a silly little online forum for a train simulator game - don't let what others say go over your head. If other people disagree with your idea or take it to heart then that's out of your control - you cannot be blamed for that.

 

Clearly DTG wants to see detailed suggestions instead of having "add [route] would be nice" as a suggestion because if they didn't care they wouldn't have pinned this post in the first place... use your brains people it's not hard. So I'm pretty sure DTG are going to prioritise and look more into the detailed and researched suggestions.

I was disagreeing, and I think there's nothing wrong with that. OP decided to delete his whole topic, that wasn't my decision and honestly surprised me.

 

Nobody knows why DTG pinned this topic, and until they make a statement we can only guess. Personally I think this topic was decent enough as a guide for those seeking to expand their suggestions. Unfortunately some people here seem to have seen this topic as some kind of rules and felt the need to post in several suggestions that people needed to expand their suggestions in order to comply with the guidelines set in this topic, as if they were actual rules.

I see two things wrong with that;
1. Whatever was posted in this topic weren't rules. (They were only a suggestion)
2. It wasn't up to forum users to enforce these guidelines. (That's what moderators are for)

DTG is well enough capable to research suggestions that they see come by often. They have their own way of doing market research. They don't need us to write essays, although writing essays may provide more useful feedback to them (mostly because other people are more likely to reply to the topic to bring their feedback). But that doesn't mean that one-liner suggestions aren't useful feedback (especially when in numbers), and thus we don't need to tell people they need to write expanded suggestions.

there are more ways to write suggestions than just essays and one-liners, there are alot of people who will writes lists
all you would need to show is the basic information about the era, trains you would like to see and a list of stations/yards and maybe some key points and depots with some pictures which is good enough, i dont think anyone is asking people to write essays.
infact, in the original thread one of the points was to avoid writing massive amounts of text and essays:
