Just started up TSW4, jumped into the "Testing the limits" scenario for ECML. Bad vibrations Get into the cab and my controller is vibrating like crazy. Ok, turn the "haptic" feedback down a bit. Got it down to 1% and it's still the most annoying thing on the planet — every time you move over a control you get a hideous shake. And it's exactly the same shake for train movements, moving controls etc. So, that's all of those turned off permanently, then. A subtle 'bump' would be nice, but if the Xbox controller can't do that, just don't bother. The sound of silence Wow, the Azuma is quiet. Is it really that quiet? I've been on plenty of those things on the ECML and I'm pretty sure they're not that quiet. All sound turned up to 100%, fine, I'll turn my speakers up. Get up to speed and suddenly I'm nearly knocked out of my seat by the music. Incredibly loud music. I'm so distracted that I don't notice an AWS warning and there's no way I can hear it behind the music. Go into the audio menu and selectively start turning everything to "Off" but nothing turns that damn music down or off. What the hell? So now I'm just sat with music blaring at me while my Azuma gets on with its emergency stop. I guess I'll just have to sit in the middle of the track and wait for the music to play out before I continue. What else can I do? I'm not driving a train with a full orchestra sat in the cab with me, nice though the music might be. The rest of the game might be good but my first 5 minutes have been pure pain. For absolutely no good reason. Not a good start...
Hi, thank you for your feedback. If you have specific feedback about ECML, please join the master feedback thread here: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/east-coast-main-line-feedback-thread.73266/#post-717555 If you encounter a genuine bug, please submit a support ticket with further details: https://dovetailgames.freshdesk.com/support/tickets/new
Yes, the 801 cab is insulated and isn't even in a motor coach, obviously elsewhere in the train you can hear the motors depending on the coach you're in
Well, that's good to know! I obviously need to be travelling in the cab next time I need to go down the ECML... I suspect that the issue with the music and the controls aren't just limited to the ECML (although I'll need to check first). Is there a more general TSW4 feedback thread?
Series X, been on the splash screen loading for 20 mins. Not the best of starts! Clearly something wrong...
The feedback about the haptics is unfortunate to hear. I was looking forward to the haptics during acceleration etc., but have no idea why they added these vibrations when moving the cursor over interactive controls. Hopefully a setting to turn those specific vibrations off will be added.
You can enable/disable vibrations for various elements individually. The options are: Throttle Track Rumble Vibration Control Hover Vibration Lever Moved Through Notches Flicked Switch Coupling Vibration The problem is that they all just feel like the controller rumbling, at least on a standard Xbox controller. Not really very 'haptic'. I've ended up turning them all down to zero except for "Coupling Vibration" (as that's a good one to feel, and it's not constantly making holding the controller uncomfortable, like the others).
I‘m in Xbox Series S and can’t find how to turn the haptic feedback down. Where can I find the setting? Appreciate any help
Problem there would be Xbox controllers themselves don't have true haptic feedback. Just traditional spinning motors. The "impulse triggers" have more potential in that regard, but overall, Xbox force feedback has lagged behind both Switch and PS5. If the recent leaks are anything to go by, Xbox have been planning a new controller revision sometime next year with haptic feedback more like the Dual Sense.
Your ears won't "bleed" from the motors or ventilations for that matter. If anything, the noise is to prefer to the mind numbing silence. I hate cabcars in the game and real life and most drivers I know feel that way as well.
The azuma is way to quiet, especially from the outside, usually the motors of these trains is decently audible so its weird that they're so quiet
No it's because DTG couldn't get the correct sounds, used somethin else and seem to have managed to botch that as well.
The first thing I did was to drive the 185 on the Austrian route (I know, not even a new train) and for the throttle it just vibrates constantly as you move the control as it has no notches. This is on PS5 and I was expecting that the throttle would be allocated to the trigger and only work for notches but it appears not to be the case. The next thing I encountered was going over a junction or two with vibration but no junction sound, which was just weird. I had already turned off the controller hover and switch flicked rumble as that was seriously annoying but I decided the best thing to do was to set all the controls to zero and not have any controller rumble at all. That’s the best setting. One thing xbox players won’t be able to experience is the PS controller lighting up with the colour of the next signal aspect, a feature I thought I wouldn’t like, but is actually quite cool, so there is one thing that they got right. The rumbles are just as you say, the same rumble for everything.
Anyone managed to get a TSW3 route copied over to TSW4 such as Midland Mainline. What was the process followed? The add remove components seems to not show previous gen routes.
it’s not possible yet… the tsw4 compatible versions of older routes are not getting released until the game’s official release date next week
