As we know with the release of the next title of the series, TSW4, legacy DLCs won’t be fixed (we’re not surprised honestly) except “NEC: New York to Trenton”. So the thread created by Jane Skyhook, really derailed as everyone noticed, that implies we won’t have the so called “2nd part of update” to MML ?
If that’s the case, personally Skyhook has lost any credibility and is not viable for doing any new content to TSW.

    What a shame if that’s true…

    Hiya,

All feedback currently being processed about Midland Main Line has so far been made to the TSW3 version. That allows the improvements to be released on that version, and ported forward to TSW4.

    According to DTG TSW3 is now a legacy product and will receive no more patches (except Trenton). By definition therefore the TSW3 version of MML will receive no more patches. If you wish to receive any further patches for routes you have already purchased (and funded the development of) then you will need to buy TSW4. It’s there in black and white in the FAQ and couldn’t be any clearer;

Will Train Sim World 3 continue to receive updates?
There will be a short window after the release of Train Sim World 4 where Train Sim World 3 will receive updates focused on improvements to tutorials, and the Trenton – New York timetable. After this time, there will be no further updates.

Will Train Sim World 3 be compatible with new add-ons?
No, Train Sim World 3 will not be compatible with any add-ons released after the launch of Train Sim World 4.

What is considered a legacy Train Sim World game?
Legacy Train Sim World games are those that are no longer being updated. This includes…
    • Train Sim World 2020
    • Train Sim World 2
    • Train Sim World 3

...or are we now saying the FAQ is wrong?

This really highlights the issue with releasing a new game and making the previous title legacy content within 12 months - Any of the devs working on TSW cannot patch things within 12 months.

Where does this leave people staying on TSW 3, awaiting fixes they were promised? Obviously this is rhetorical as we know the answer already.

I just hope someone somewhere that is involved with development & marketing, feels some sort of shame for what they’re doing & how they’re going about it.

I think there may be a misunderstanding from the TSW4 FAQ. I read it there will be no more core fixes, not that individual content with issues won’t be repaired. There are a number of quite recently released products that need attention, the Class 700, PFR to name but two. Surely these are not abandoned in entirety? However if the answer is that they are not I guess the next question is whether the fixes will only apply to the routes in TSW4 or be backdated to at least TSW3.

I mean I have preordered TSW4 on PC but sticking with 3 on the PS5 (wife not going to agree to two purchases of the same game!) with a view to maybe picking it up via one of the starter packs later on.

DTG Matt DTG JD I think we do need some urgent clarification on this and the FAQ updating to make intentions clearer.

They have said that previous content isn't abandoned, and will still me patched. Just that it was implied only on TSW4.

Yes. Come on guys, it is there in black and white and is clear and unequivocal.

There will be no more updates for TSW3 after the Trenton patch, if that ever materialises. Best not mention TSW2 here.

There will be new features and fixes for content that until yesterday you played within TSW3, but those will be available only as updates to TSW4. You will need to own TSW4 to get them, and they will only be available through the TSW4 game.

    Surely that is clear enough?

Why is it than whenever MML gets mentioned the waters become murky and the lines get blurred. It really doesn’t sit well with me.
I’m sticking to my tried and tested method now of, if it looks fake, if it smells fake, then it probably is fake.
    MML = fake. ;):mad:

Alright I got it but what I don’t understand is you’re telling me that feedback being processed, has been made to TSW3 but on the other side DTG confirmed they won’t be any fixes for any legacy DLCs (except for NEC with new timetable). So who’s right and who’s wrong ? There’s one thing for sure, there a lack of communication between DTG and its 3rd party partners and that’s not good.

To be fair to Skyhook, they responded to the MML feedback and they responded to it well - the route is much better than it was at launch. I'm optimistic for more improvements, which should always be encouraged.

That's not entirely accurate. After NYT (and perhaps MML, but that's up to Skyhook), there will be no improvements to the TSW3 versions of DLC. That does NOT mean "won't be any for any legacy DLCs;" if by "legacy DLCs" you mean "everything released up through now." The TSW4 versions of all DLCs back to Sand Patch are subject to upgrades and bugfixes, just not the old TSW2 and 3 versions.

I read it as TSW3 will become legacy content, not DLCs.
Look at as refently as June this year, a number of patches of the Arosa, IoW original, the Swiss mainline route and others had patches, even Bakerloo got attention.

It would be a major own goal if they simply dropped dlcs released as recently as glossop or PFR

They also just announced that NYT, and Koln-Aachen are getting updated Timetables. So not really abandoned.

    Exactly.
I read it as the TSW3 core program will become abandonware, not the addon routes.
Part of me thinks people are just looking for any excuse to spread misinformation of shake a spear at DTG.

Yeah I agree with Bravo it does look more to the side of them saying TSW3 itself is becoming legacy content and not DLC's, plus a staff member from Skyhook trying to inform people. Can't see why they would lie I think if they did they'll just keep quiet.

Now that I know that NYT will get its updates, I'll jump to TSW4 asap. Frankly, I'm not counting on any fixes to other legacy routes, I'll be ( pleasantly ) surprised if there are any. I'll just move on, that's what DTG wants us to do.

Not that I'm entirely happy about leaving all those issues on TSW2/3 behind. I don't like broken promises. But I do like the look of TSW4 so, as I say, I guess I'll just move on.

I think those people who are saying that this new version has come too soon have a point. It's causing more than a little confusion. And caught in the middle you have SHG trying to update a fairly recent route. Then you have JT coming with their route. Plus a veritable feast of a Roadmap for the next 6 months. Too much going on too fast maybe? My wallet is going to take some big hits!

I think DTG could have given some indication of these changes earlier in the Summer at least. I mean you know they have to have been planning and working on this stuff for practically the entire year since TSW3 was released.

For some it's confusing, maybe chaotic.

But boy, isn't it exciting?!! Lots to look forward to. It's gonna be one hell of a fall.

Clear to everyone except for those who think they know how DTG operates better than DTG themselves.

They still had credibility after the 187?

And in the same faq, there's a section where dtg says there's a short window where they'll release updates for tsw3 content. Also mentioned in detail in one of the roadmaps what is being fixed. Of course tsw2 fixes were promised but dropped due to technical reasons but how would it be miscommunication if dtg have said tsw3 is still being fixed and skyhook is saying the same thing.

Matt mentioned on a recent stream that the dev team have moved onto TSW4 so any changes they make can only be patched into TSW4 but Matt himself is still using a TSW3 dev build so fixes he is working on can be patched into TSW3, it's not much of a stretch to think Skyhook is fixing MML using a TSW3 dev build.
