I’ve been having this problem with the Flying Scotsman lately where the brakes will apply randomly while I’m in the middle of a run. And once I come to a stop, the brakes won’t release fully. I know it’s not a safety system issue because I tried running it on the training center, and it still had the issue. I am completely stumped so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you make a vacuum (moving the small and big injectors)

If you are talking about setting the small and large ejectors to fully open, then yes, I did do that. And the brakes would either not release at all, or get to about 3/4 released, then go down to 1/2 released and be stuck there.

I haven’t run the Scotsman yet; I’m having too much fun with the Vectron.

However, according to the stream, the Scotsman is equipped with both vacuum and air brakes. With the Mark 2 coaches, the train is airbraked. If you put any vacuum on at all, the air brakes won’t release.

To solve the problem, I would assume you could hit the “I’m stuck” button. The official way to solve the problem is to purge the vacuum out of the loco and the tender. This is explained in the stream.

The bottom line is don’t use the ejectors on the Scotsman with modern coaches. Just use the air brake system.

This is all explained in the latest stream. I hope this works for you.

The vacuum chamber release was what did it, thanks!

On PS5 it is very hard to open or close the cylinder valves with the controller without accidentally opening the ejectors as the left thumbstick has no dead zone in the middle and is overly sensitive to tiny movements. When you press it to operate the valve it will open one or both of the ejectors a little as you do.

This is also a problem in the game’s settings menu as an up or down movement of the stick going through the menu will also change the setting as if a deliberate sideways movement has been made when in fact the stick only has to be barely moved sideways to change a setting. The stick is just too sensitive. It should require a significant movement before altering any settings.
